Chapter 1310

~5 min read 816 words

The King of Hell was nearly furious; though clearly a being of ten million years, he felt an irresistible urge to settle scores with Little Qiongqi.

Fortunately, Miss Hongxiu hurriedly appeared, interrupting what nearly became a confrontation.

"Ahem, um, well, I think it's getting late; why don't we head straight to the Demon-Imprisoning Tower?"

As she spoke, Miss Hongxiu nudged Geng Zhong's arm with her elbow; Geng Zhong instantly reacted and chimed in, "Yes, yes, that way we can rescue the King sooner."

Fortunately, the King of Hell also knew which is light and which is heavy; he sighed and cast a regretful glance at Little Qiongqi.

The King of Hell opened the window and pointed into the distance: "You should be able to see it from here—that corner, that place is the Demon-Imprisoning Tower. However, rescuing Mi Hei won't be easy. You must understand: you cannot destroy the Demon-Imprisoning Tower, or else the hundreds of millions of years' worth of demons and monsters inside will be released."

Ning Chen looked in the direction the King of Hell pointed; suddenly, Ning Chen felt a momentary dizziness before his eyes, and when he opened them again, he found himself in a completely different place.

The environment here was harsh; magma surrounded them, and all kinds of demons and monsters dwelled within it.

At first glance, Ning Chen locked onto a man—a man in a black long robe, with long hair and peach-blossom eyes, his entire demeanor so alluring he looked like a woman.

At that moment, he lay on a sofa utterly out of place here; the sofa was extremely ornate, while the demons and monsters attacking from all sides turned to dust within a meter of him.

The man lying on the sofa with closed eyes seemed to sense something; he lifted his gaze toward Ning Chen, his eyes showing a hint of confusion.

"Who are you?"

Though Ning Chen and the other were still at some distance, the other's words reached Ning Chen's ears with perfect clarity.

Ning Chen opened his mouth; he wanted to reply, yet no sound came out.

And Ning Chen clearly felt the surrounding scenery begin to collapse and vanish.

Within a second or two, when Ning Chen came to his senses again, he had returned to the familiar place.

Ning Chen looked at the King of Hell; his finger still pointed outward, not yet withdrawn; not much time had passed, at most a second or two.

Yet Ning Chen did not believe what had just happened was false; it had been far too real. Ning Chen formed a thought: perhaps that man just now was the Demon King Mi Hei, and that place was the Demon-Imprisoning Tower.

But why had he suddenly appeared there, and why did those demons and monsters seem not to have noticed his presence at all?

As for Mi Hei, Ning Chen felt he had not truly seen him, because the eyes that had looked toward him then held no focus; perhaps it was simply that Mi Hei had suddenly sensed his existence.

Though he did not know why this had happened, Ning Chen had a premonition: perhaps to rescue him, one would need to enter the Demon-Imprisoning Tower.

This place was the Underworld; guided by the King of Hell, the journey proceeded without obstruction.

Upon reaching the surroundings of the Demon-Imprisoning Tower, everyone clearly felt a powerful suppressing force, which grew even stronger the deeper they ventured inward.

The first to be unable to endure it was Xu Chenchen; having already lost his three souls and six spirits, he naturally could not withstand such pressure; the Demon-Imprisoning Tower's influence upon him was simply too great.

Seeing this, the King of Hell summoned a Yin Soldier to take Xu Chenchen away from the Demon-Imprisoning Tower.

The rest of the group followed the King of Hell to the vicinity of the Demon-Imprisoning Tower.

Around the Demon-Imprisoning Tower, some soldiers still stood guard; by the look of things, they were a mixture of people from the Demon Realm and people from the Underworld.

Two individuals approached Geng Zhong and the King of Hell respectively, offered salutes, and then reported the situation.

The two spoke almost identical words, and their voices were exactly the same.

At this moment, Gu Yanqi noticed that the two appeared to be twin brothers.

"They look so alike; they feel like brothers, yet I somehow feel they are separated, and they are not even in the same place," Gu Yanqi whispered quietly into Ning Chen's ear.

Miss Hongxiu patted Gu Yanqi's shoulder and smiled as she explained: "They are indeed brothers, but their mother is from the Demon Realm and their father is from the Underworld; therefore, one inherited their mother's bloodline and the other inherited their father's bloodline, which is why they are like this."

Gu Yanqi's face lit up with sudden understanding.
