Chapter 1735

~9 min read 1,602 words

"Save your strength," the man said coolly. "Better behave yourself, or I'll make you wish you were dead—and even death won't save you."

Then they left the warehouse.

Zhao Yang was locked alone in the warehouse; he knew he had to find a way out quickly.

His sister had gone to great lengths to save him—he couldn't let her down.

He began searching everywhere for an escape route, when suddenly he noticed a tiny gap between the chain and iron bars of a cage—he started desperately trying to pry them apart.

He succeeded just before his sister and the bodyguards arrived!

In the darkness, Zhao Yang saw his savior!

Then he passed out. When he woke up, he was lying in a hospital bed.

His sister, Zhao Ruoxue, sat beside him watching him—he sat up quickly and grabbed her hand. "Sister, I—" Zhao Yang's voice was hoarse.

"Don't worry, you're safe now," Zhao Ruoxue soothed gently. "They didn't hurt you—you were just overly tense."

"Sister, I—" Zhao Yang choked up.

"Enough, say nothing more," Zhao Ruoxue patted his hand. "Rest easy—they're all taken care of. We're safe now."

"Thank you, sister," Zhao Yang said. "You're the strongest."

"Fool," Zhao Ruoxue said softly. "I'm your sister—it's my duty. Rest well, don't think about anything else. I'll handle everything."

Afterwards, Zhao Yang gradually recovered under his sister's care. Though his body wasn't fully healed, he could already get out of bed and walk.

During this time, Zhao Ruoxue had been secretly investigating the origins of that mysterious faction. She discovered they came from abroad and seemed to know everything about the Zhao family. What was their goal? Why kidnap Zhao Yang? These questions haunted her.

But just then, Zhao Yang unexpectedly received a mysterious phone call. The caller claimed to represent the faction and demanded Zhao Yang's life in exchange for their desired gains. Both Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue were stunned and furious.

"These bastards still won't let me go!" Zhao Yang snarled. "They want my life—I'll never let them have it!"

"Brother, don't act rashly," Zhao Ruoxue urged. "If they dared make this demand, they've prepared thoroughly. We can't risk it—you'll only end up in greater danger."

"But we can't just wait to die!" Zhao Yang said. "Sister, we must find a way to wipe out this entire faction!"

"Exactly," Zhao Ruoxue's eyes gleamed with resolve. "I'll arrange everything—rest assured. I'll protect you. No harm will come to you."

Then Zhao Ruoxue began planning. Through her network, she gathered substantial intelligence on the faction. They discovered the group had a vast international network and deep knowledge of domestic affairs. What was their goal? Why kidnap Zhao Yang? These questions still troubled them.

But just then, Zhao Yang unexpectedly received a mysterious email. The sender claimed to represent the faction and demanded Zhao Yang's life in exchange for their desired gains. Both Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue were stunned and furious.

"These bastards still won't let me go!" Zhao Yang snarled. "They want my life—I'll never let them have it!"

"Brother, don't rush," Zhao Ruoxue advised. "We still don't understand the full picture. We can't act recklessly."

"But—"

"No buts," Zhao Ruoxue said sharply. "I know you're angry, but stay calm. Don't act impulsively—do you understand?"

Hearing his sister's words, Zhao Yang slowly calmed down.

"Sister, do you really believe they're as powerful as you say? What do they want? Is this just a simple kidnapping for ransom?" Zhao Yang suddenly frowned. "Could there be another reason? Maybe they have a grudge against the Zhao family? Or is this some kind of conspiracy?"

Hearing her brother's question, Zhao Ruoxue's expression became solemn. After a moment of silence, she shook her head. "That possibility is unlikely."

"Why?"

"How many coincidences are there in this world?" Zhao Ruoxue analyzed. "Look—how many times have we been kidnapped in the past few years? And every time, we were forced to comply. Would ordinary gangs even dare target us? These people are clearly not ordinary. I suspect they're a hidden organization or faction. These kinds of groups love to play the fool while hiding their strength—they always act mysterious, pushing people to their limits. We must be careful!"

"Hmm," Zhao Yang nodded. "We underestimated them."

"So I suggest we hold off for now," Zhao Ruoxue said. "Wait until we uncover exactly who they are before acting. Your priority now is to recover and return to school. As for revenge—we'll get them eventually."

Zhao Yang nodded. Though Zhao Ruoxue spoke calmly, his heart burned with rage. These bastards dared kidnap and extort him—how despicable! Worse, they'd used Zhao Ruoxue to threaten him—he could never swallow this humiliation.

If they show no mercy, then neither will I. Zhao Yang resolved to deliver a fatal counterstrike.

Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa in Jingcheng, several men gathered in a spacious room, each holding binoculars, carefully observing the distant scene.

"Are you certain they'll leave the school before midnight and meet at the abandoned warehouse in the southern suburbs?" a man with gold-rimmed glasses said coolly.

"Boss, I've assigned men to follow them—no mistake. Around eight tonight, they'll meet at the abandoned warehouse in the southern suburbs," a young man replied respectfully.

"Oh? Then let's wait patiently," the gold-rimmed glasses man smiled.

"But boss, didn't we say we'd eliminate them completely?" a burly man beside him said.

"Not yet," the gold-rimmed glasses man waved his hand, smiling. "First, we must confirm whether the boy is alive. If we kill him outright, his parents might suspect something. Better to keep them calm—for now. Of course, we're not letting him live forever. Just temporarily."

"Hah! This kid's unlucky—he messed with us," another burly man chuckled maliciously.

"Exactly," the gold-rimmed glasses man said. "After this is over, I'll personally lead a team to meet them. I want to see who dares be so arrogant."

"Boss, what do you plan to do with him?" the young man asked. "Kill him?"

"Let him live—for now. Once I find the mastermind behind this, then we'll see." He sneered.

At that moment, the phone in the room rang.

"Hello!" the gold-rimmed glasses man said.

"Boss, according to our surveillance, those two just left the hospital and are heading toward the abandoned warehouse in the southern suburbs," came the voice on the line. "Good," the gold-rimmed glasses man sneered, hung up, and turned to the others. "Now, let's go see who this mastermind really is."

Inside the abandoned warehouse, Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue waited silently by the entrance. Both knew tonight was a battle for life or death. Their opponent was stronger than they'd imagined—but they did not retreat, for they knew that yielding to evil meant living forever in shadow.

"Sister, don't worry. As long as I'm here, they won't touch you," Zhao Yang clenched his fists and whispered.

"I know," Zhao Ruoxue smiled faintly. She knew her brother was ready.

Just then, the distant road roared with the sound of engines. Soon, headlights flickered through the darkness. A van pulled up to the warehouse door. Several men stepped out, wielding gleaming cleavers and steel pipes.

"Hah! You really are here," one man shouted arrogantly. "The boss said to kill you. But first, let's enjoy torturing you!"

Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue's faces darkened. Clearly, these weren't ordinary gangsters. Their kidnapping of Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue must have deeper motives.

"Who are you?" Zhao Yang demanded angrily.

"Hah! You don't need to know who we are," one man laughed wildly. "You only need to know—the boss said we'll slowly torture you until you beg for death!"

"Dream on!" Zhao Yang roared, his figure darting forward toward the man. Simultaneously, Zhao Ruoxue moved—her form flashed like lightning, appearing beside the other men.

"Ahh!"

Soon, agonized screams echoed through the warehouse. Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue's figures darted through the darkness—each punch and kick landed on their foes, drawing pained groans.

A few minutes later, several men were already kneeling on the ground, groaning in agony. Yet Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue were completely unscathed.

"Sis, are you okay?" Zhao Yang asked, looking at Zhao Ruoxue.

"I'm fine. Are you okay too?" Zhao Ruoxue asked with concern.

"Mm." Zhao Yang nodded, his gaze falling on the several men in the distance. "Let's get out of here quickly. Once they recover, we'll be in trouble."

"Okay." Zhao Ruoxue didn't waste any words either, immediately following Zhao Yang's footsteps. The two stepped around the men on the ground and hurried toward the depths of the warehouse. Soon, they found a Tie Sect. Zhao Yang forcefully twisted the handle on the iron door, and the iron door slowly opened a crack. Without hesitation, the two squeezed through.

Behind the iron door was a pitch-black cement corridor. Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue ran quickly, and in no time they reached the end of the corridor. They pushed open another iron door with force, and were instantly stunned by the scene before them.

What appeared before their eyes was a massive underground chamber. And in the middle of the underground chamber, an old man with gray-white hair, wearing a white lab coat, was sitting on a chair. His hands were tied to the back of the chair.

"Dad!" Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue shouted almost simultaneously.

"Xue'er, Yang'er, how are you here?" the old man asked with effort. Clearly, he had already been tortured enough.

Zhao Yang and Zhao Ruoxue immediately rushed to the old man's side, busying themselves with untying the rope on his hands.

"Dad, are you okay?" the two asked with concern.
