Chapter 1749
Wang Peng gave a bitter smile, "Where else can we go?"
"You can no longer stay here. If that demon race discovers you, they will likely capture you and eat you as food."
Zhao Yang frowned slightly. "Is that so? Then very well, we shall set off now." Zhao Yang and Wang Peng followed Hilda, retracing the path she had pointed out earlier. They knew this road might be fraught with danger, but they had no other choice.
They encountered some minor obstacles along the way, such as traps set by the demon race, but their luck held, and they passed through them all smoothly. Zhao Yang looked ahead. "What should we do next?"
Hilda replied, "We need to find a safe place to hide temporarily while waiting for an opportunity to find a way out."
Zhao Yang nodded in agreement. They found a patch of woodland near the temple, deemed it relatively safe, and decided to rest there for a while.
They found a large tree in the woods and sat down leaning against its trunk. Hilda looked at them. "Do you have any ideas about how to leave this place?"
Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng shook their heads; they truly had no solution. Zhao Yang sighed. "For now, we can only take one step at a time."
They settled down temporarily in this place and began their first day. They took turns resting and standing guard to prevent the demon race from appearing suddenly.
The next morning, Zhao Yang gazed into the distance. "I feel this place is full of danger; we must be careful."
Hilda nodded. "I know, we will be."
They continued forward, hoping to find a way out within this woodland. What they did not know was that a crisis awaited them ahead. Deep in the woods, they discovered a small stream. Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng were somewhat thirsty and intended to drink some water by the stream. Hilda warned them, "This place may not be safe; we must be careful."
Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng nodded, indicating they understood. As they approached the stream, a roar suddenly erupted from the woods.
Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng were startled. They saw a huge black wolf charging out from the woods. Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng were terrified, and Hilda was also caught off guard.
"Run quickly!" Hilda shouted. Zhao Yang and Wang Peng followed Hilda, running back swiftly in hopes of escaping the black wolf's pursuit.
They ran for a long time, but the black wolf kept following behind them. Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng were becoming physically exhausted, and Hilda also felt her strength rapidly depleting.
Suddenly, a coughing sound came from the woods. The black wolf stopped, appearing somewhat afraid. Seizing the opportunity, Hilda pulled Zhao Yang and Wang Peng and ran back. After running a long distance, the black wolf finally ceased its pursuit.
Hilda breathed a sigh of relief. "That black wolf must be the guardian of this forest; it probably does not wish for us to venture deeper into this forest."
Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng breathed a sigh of relief as well; they also felt extremely lucky to have escaped the black wolf's pursuit. Hilda continued walking forward. "We must quickly find a way to leave this place."
They continued following Hilda, hoping to find a path leading out of here. They walked for a long time but still found no exit.
Hilda looked ahead. "I sense a very powerful demonic qi here; we must be careful."
Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng nodded; they knew there were likely very dangerous demons here. They continued forward cautiously, trying to avoid the thick demonic qi. The deeper they went, the stronger the demonic qi they felt became.
Suddenly, a low roar came from ahead. Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng froze, and Hilda's face also turned somewhat pale.
"This is... the strongest of the demon race!" Hilda's voice trembled slightly.
They cautiously approached the source of the sound ahead and discovered a huge demon squatting before a cave. This demon looked extremely powerful, emitting a strong aura of demonic qi from its body.
Zhao Yang looked at Hilda. "What should we do?"
Hilda shook her head. "We can only stay away from this demon; we must absolutely not let it discover us."
They cautiously bypassed that cave and continued deeper. They knew this forest was full of danger and they had to be extremely careful.
Suddenly, a sound of footsteps came from ahead. Both Zhao Yang and Wang Peng grew tense, and Hilda also prepared for battle.
But when they clearly saw what was coming, they all breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out to be a group of humans; they looked somewhat exhausted but very excited.
Hilda looked at them. "Who are you? Why have you come here?"
Those people looked somewhat surprised. "We are villagers from nearby. Because of the demon race's invasion, we had no choice but to flee here."
Hilda thought for a moment. "Are you willing to leave this place with me?"
All those people nodded; they all hoped to leave this place. Hilda led Zhao Yang, Wang Peng, and that group of villagers, continuing deeper.
They walked for a long time but finally arrived at a road leading outside. They followed this road for a long time and finally walked out of that forest.
Zhao Yang looked into the distance. "We have finally left that place."
Hilda was also somewhat excited. "Yes, we can now return to the human world."
Wang Peng looked at Hilda. "Thank you, Hilda; you saved our lives."
Hilda smiled. "No need to thank me; I am also very glad to be able to leave that place."
