Chapter 1758

~4 min read 681 words

"What's going on?" Zhao Yang thought to himself, yet he understood he could not pull the sword out.

The crow emitted a series of buzzing sounds, as if urging Zhao Yang to leave. Zhao Yang's heart stirred, recalling words Hilda had once spoken.

"Only the one who holds Odin's scepter can control Odin's power," Zhao Yang thought to himself. "I must find the scepter."

He released his hand, turned, and walked toward the exit. The crow circled above his head for a while, then flew forward. Zhao Yang followed the crow, walking toward the exit.

Zhao Yang followed the crow through valley after valley, arriving before a massive cave. The cave's entrance was concealed by dense shrubs and weeds; without the crow's guidance, he would never have discovered this cave's existence.

He followed the crow into the cave. The inner walls were lined with many stalagmites and stalactites of various shapes, as if entering a fantastical underground world.

Traversing the long cave, Zhao Yang finally saw the cave's depths. There stood a huge stone platform, and embedded in the platform was a golden scepter. The scepter emitted intense light, as if holding endless power.

Zhao Yang could not help but step forward, wanting to pick up that scepter. Yet the scepter was as if embedded in the stone platform, impossible to pull out.

He turned to look at the crow. The crow emitted a series of buzzing sounds, as if urging him to leave.

Zhao Yang felt unwilling yet helpless. "It seems I can only return first; only after finding Odin's runes can I pull out this scepter."

He turned to prepare to leave, but suddenly heard footsteps coming from the cave's depths. His heart tightened, and he quickly hid behind a nearby rock.

A group of people dressed in black appeared in Zhao Yang's line of sight. They held various tools and instruments, obviously searching for something.

Zhao Yang's heart stirred; he recognized these people as the black-clad figures who had previously appeared in Hilda's café.

They seemed unaware Zhao Yang was here, focused solely on finding Odin's scepter. They searched everywhere, finally arriving beside the stone platform where Zhao Yang had been earlier.

Zhao Yang could not help but poke his head out, wanting to see what they intended to do. Yet when he clearly saw the black-clad figures' actions, he was greatly shocked.

Those black-clad figures actually began digging a hole beside the stone platform, as if trying to dig out that scepter.

Zhao Yang's heart tightened. He knew if they succeeded, the scepter would be in danger. He could not help but step out from behind the rock, wanting to stop those black-clad figures.

Yet those black-clad figures simply ignored his warnings, attending only to their own actions. Zhao Yang was extremely anxious, yet did not know what to do.

Just at that moment, the crow suddenly flew out from the cave's depths, emitting a high-pitched sound from its beak. That sound surged toward the black-clad figures like ocean waves, leaving each of them stunned.

The crow swiftly circled once in the air, then dove toward the stone platform. Its claws sliced through the black-clad figures' bodies like sharp swords, knocking each of them to the ground.

Seeing this, Zhao Yang was overjoyed, knowing the crow had come to help him. He quickly charged at the black-clad figures, wanting to drive them all away.

Yet when he approached those black-clad figures, he was astonished to find each of them had fainted. White smoke rose from their bodies in waves, as if swallowed by some power.

Zhao Yang's heart tightened. He knew these black-clad figures were not simply here to search for the scepter. The black clothes they wore were clearly some special attire, and the tools and instruments they used were not ordinary tools.

He was stunned, not knowing what to do. He turned to look at the crow. The crow nodded at him, as if Si Shiyi he need not worry.

The crow suddenly emitted a high-pitched sound.

The crow suddenly let out a shrill cry.
