Chapter 549

~7 min read 1,261 words

After all, our supply chain comes from the Chiang Mai branch of the Gulf Clan; if we truly wanted to seize this business, killing and dismantling the organization could wait.

Finding the person who manufactures the drugs is the most critical.

But even using your toes to think about it, you know such a person must be heavily protected and impossible to reach easily.

And.

Kov also knew that the Chiang Mai branch and other offshoots might have declined.

Yet the Gulf Clan's headquarters, elusive and unseen, had always maintained its mystery.

So.

No matter how you assessed their combat strength, as long as the headquarters still stood, you could not act.

After all, everyone in this line of work knows.

How terrifying that bloody pact truly is!

Originally.

One of Kov's comrades had gotten drunk, started a brawl, and shot dead a member of the Gulf Clan.

Upon learning of it, the Gulf Clan's headquarters immediately activated the blood pact.

At the time.

Kov and that comrade slept in bunk beds.

Kov slept on the bottom bunk; the man slept on the top.

One night.

Kov noticed no movement at all, until midnight when he woke to use the toilet.

After returning from the toilet, he discovered.

His comrade had been hung from the ceiling.

Limbs severed, bones shattered.

Even his head had been cut off.

Blood pooled everywhere, slick and dripping.

Kov lowered the body and found all internal organs had been removed.

Kov was utterly terrified, trembling uncontrollably.

He thought: if he had been the one causing trouble that night, he would be the corpse lying on the floor.

This sight made Kov understand: only power is the way.

He understood what kind of organization the Gulf Clan truly was.

This became Kov's shadow, one he could never shake off.

So when facing the Gulf Clan.

Kov always remained cautious and respectful.

But.

His methods might be a bit unusual.

"Sigh! I should just tell Luo Wan first—his target has been repeatedly warned; he's a dangerous man." Kov sighed, then pulled out his phone and dialed.

"D-doo-doo-doo!"

"D-doo-doo-doo!"

"Hello, boss? What's up? You miss me already?" Luo Wan answered.

Kov cursed with a laugh, "You bastard, I'm telling you—the Gulf Clan's contact came by, warned me several times not to underestimate that guy Ning Chen, or we'd suffer big consequences! Of course, that's just their side; I still think the kid's a weakling!"

"Hehehe! Boss, what a coincidence? I think he's a weakling too—otherwise, how could he be so scrawny?" Luo Wan laughed loudly. "I bet his background's special—maybe some big corporation's Young Master."

"The Gulf Clan won't act themselves but are desperate to eliminate him, so they told us Ning Chen is dangerous, hoping we'll deploy all our strength to kill him—that's the fastest, easiest plan," Luo Wan analyzed.

Kov slapped his thigh hard, "You're right! Exactly! That's definitely it—they're afraid of stirring up trouble, so they're using us. You're brilliant, Luo Wan!"

"Nothing much, boss, just a random thought," Luo Wan said sheepishly.

"Where are you now? What are you doing?"

"I'm searching the city right now!" Luo Wan replied quickly.

Kov nodded, "Good. Stay there. The contact said Ning Chen has arrived at Xia Dao, but we don't know where yet. Search carefully—you'll likely spot him somewhere in the city."

"Got it! I'm right outside the Five-Star Hotel—if he's someone important, he'll stay at a luxury place." Luo Wan replied.

"Good," Kov asked, "You've received Ning Chen's photo and details, right?"

Luo Wan said, "Memorized them. If I see him on the street, I'll recognize him instantly—even if he's turned to ash, I'd know him."

"Good. Luo Wan, if anything happens, report it immediately—don't hide anything," Kov warned. "I don't want to lose a brother over a bounty."

"You're deeply affectionate and righteous, boss!" Luo Wan was momentarily moved.

"Oh, by the way—if possible, avoid acting inside the city," Kov added. "Something's odd about Xia Dao lately—rumor says many cops have arrived. Be careful, leave no traces or evidence. Stay low, don't drag the police into this."

Luo Wan replied, "Understood, boss. Once I make contact, I'll tie him up and take him to the outskirts for disposal—no clues, no traces! You know my skills, right?"

Kov laughed, "I'll give you a ten percent bonus on this job—make sure Ning Chen is cleaned up completely."

"Yes! Boss, I'm off!" Luo Wan said.

Kov nodded, "Go ahead."

Having said that.

Kov hung up the phone.

Then he tossed the phone casually onto the table and lay on the sofa, thinking for a while.

Kov got up, left the tent, entered another tent, and found someone.

"Nok, do you know what's been going on lately? Why are so many cops showing up here?" Kov said to Nok, who was frantically typing at his computer.

Nok turned around; he sported a short mustache, his dark skin dotted with freckles, his head completely bald, and he always wore sunglasses, looking like a beach tough guy.

But now he was working as a mercenary here.

397. Outmatched in Skill

Nok lazily said, "There's such a thing?"

Coff said, "Investigate it."

"Oh, sure," Nok replied coldly.

Then he turned around and closed the Connect-the-Dots game he had opened.

Coff looked at him, momentarily surprised.

Does Connect-the-Dots even use a keyboard?

Then Coff took another careful look and realized it was the circuit layout of a commercial building.

And just now...

The control over those circuits was actually in Nok's hands.

Coff wasn't surprised; after all, Nok was a computer genius, so this wasn't much of a challenge.

"I can't hack into the police station, but I can still check the phones of those few officers we cast the net on earlier," Nok said.

"Mm, pull them up first; maybe we can get some useful leads," Coff nodded.

Nok yawned, then casually clicked a few times, and more than a dozen chat windows popped up.

"These are chat records from a single day; you should be able to find the leads you want," Nok stretched, stood up, walked over, patted Coff's shoulder, and said, "Feel free to look; I'm going to take a nap first."

"Go ahead," Coff said, sitting in front of the computer himself. "Oh, by the way, I haven't asked you yet; you must have heard the content of the conversation between me and that contact person, right? What do you think of that guy named Ning Chen?"

"Just a clown," Nok said. "Making things up; he'll pay a heavy price sooner or later!"

Coff grinned, "Looks like everyone's opinion is the same."

"Hey, hey, hey! No way, did you start doubting your own judgment?" Nok turned around, looked at Coff, and said.

Coff was silent for a moment first, then replied, "No doubt, just felt something was off."

"Hehehe, it's nothing; if it really turns out that way, we'll just move out together. If that guy Luowan gets taken out early, it just means his strength is truly terrible; he deserves to die," Nok sneered.

Coff sighed, "Go get some sleep first; I'll handle this matter."

"Then I'll leave it all to you, boss," Nok waved his hand, then turned and walked out of the tent.

Coff carefully examined the information on the computer screen; among the more than a dozen chat windows, he found only two useful pieces of content.

The first chat window.

Said that two groups of police were coming recently.

One was a team led by Hua Ping, the entire team including fifteen people.
