Chapter 7: Between Yin and Yang

"With the power of a Demon, you have absolutely no need to waste your time in that boring school."

Returning home, Shendu was fiddling with some of this world's little trinkets.

"You want me to pin all my hopes on a Demon?"

Lv Cheng tossed his schoolbag onto the sofa and lay down.

"Do I look like that kind of fool?"

The power of a Demon is dangerous, and according to the Yin-Yang Balance Shendu spoke of, if he were to completely lean toward the side of the Demon, the power of the Immortal God would abandon him.

Even this Pure Yang Sword, which can restrain Shendu, might leave him as well.

Therefore, he must keep his position straight.

The power of a Demon can be used, but one cannot act recklessly.

If he relied too heavily on the power of a Demon, given Shendu's treachery, it was hard to say when he might be backstabbed!

"Suit yourself." Shendu did not say much more.

If the human world is Yang, then Hell is the corresponding Yin; in Hell, a Demon's power and wisdom are absorbed by Hell until the Demon is assimilated as a part of Hell!

The longer they stay in that godforsaken place, the weaker they become!

He spent the least amount of time in Hell, so his power and wisdom were weakened the least, while the other Demons have basically lost their minds.

"Alright." Lv Cheng nodded.

"Then another question: I clearly obtained half of your power from you, so why am I not your match at all?"

The Demon's Yin-Yang Balance Contract divides their own power into two equal parts, and he received half.

But last night, Shendu beat him like it was child's play!

"First of all, you only obtained the power; it doesn't mean you know how to control this power," Shendu said.

"Secondly, and this is the most critical point: if you were just an ordinary human, my Demon Qi could easily combine with your soul, allowing you to master this power quickly."

"But you are a descendant of the Immortal God; the Immortal God Qi in your soul suppresses my Demon Qi, preventing you from being devoured by my Demon Qi."

The corner of Lv Cheng's eye twitched, "Devoured?"

"Did you actually think the power of a Demon was so easy to take?" Shendu asked.

"A human soul is fragile; after obtaining a Demon's Demon Qi, one gains power very easily. This doesn't mean the human has mastered the Demon Qi, but rather that the Demon Qi is actively cooperating. The more it is used, the more severe the Demon Qi's erosion of the soul becomes."

"In the end, humans tainted by Demon Qi all become puppets of the Demon."

"If you want to control my power, there are only two choices."

"Which two?" Lv Cheng asked.

"The simplest method: actively accept the Demon Qi," Shendu said.

"To explain it with the simplest example you can understand, a Demon's Demon Qi is like a computer virus, while the Immortal God Qi in your body, along with your Sword, acts as a powerful firewall that blocks this virus from invading."

"But as long as you turn off this firewall, open your mind, and actively let the Demon Qi enter your soul, you will quickly obtain my power."

"And the other one?" Lv Cheng asked.

This one clearly couldn't be used.

Turn off the firewall? Is he looking to die?

"Become a Demon," Shendu said.

"..."

"Are you serious?" Lv Cheng silently took down the Pure Yang Sword pendant from his chest.

Shendu's eye twitched, "Of course I'm serious. Only a Demon can truly control Demon Qi."

"If Demon Qi could be used at will by the side of Righteous Qi, why do you think the Immortal Gods could only seal the Demons in Hell using the Panku Box?"

"If a human uses Demon Qi, they will inevitably be devoured. To avoid the backlash, the only way is to become a Demon."

"But the Twelve Talismans separated from you are essentially the power of a Demon, yet they have been used many times by the side of Righteous Qi and became a power to fight against Demons. Why is that?" Lv Cheng asked.

Shendu said nothing.

Clearly, he did not want to answer this question.

"It seems my respected Demon teacher has some hidden agendas."

Lv Cheng somewhat sadly transformed the pendant into a sharp Sword.

"I trusted you so much, yet you refuse to be honest with me."

"Teacher! My heart! It hurts so much!"

"Wait a second!" Shendu, with black lines all over his face, interrupted Lv Cheng, who was preparing to hack him with the Sword.

"I'll tell you!"

"I'm all ears, my respected teacher."

Lv Cheng changed his expression at light speed, looking just like a pious student eager to learn, and sat down opposite Shendu.

If the blade of the Pure Yang Sword weren't so blindingly sharp, Shendu might have even been moved by Lv Cheng's appearance!

Shendu took a deep breath, "This is a loophole in the Yin-Yang Balance discovered by Luo Pei. Based on that loophole, he created a special Magic Spell that seized my power, allowing the power of a Demon to be safely used by the side of Righteous Qi as well."

"Demon Qi is Yin, Righteous Qi is Yang, but the Twelve Talismans exist between Yin and Yang, so they can be used by either side!"

"Do you know this Magic Spell?" Lv Cheng asked.

Shendu gave him a look like he was watching an idiot, "What do you think?"

If he knew how, the Divine Power of the Twelve Talismans would have been completely reclaimed long ago!

The effect of that Magic Spell of Luo Pei is permanent!

Dividing his power into the Twelve Talismans, forcibly pulling the power of Yin into the space between Yin and Yang!

They are clearly his Talismans! His power! Yet they have become an existence between Yin and Yang!

"Doesn't that mean I have no way to control the Demon Qi of the demons?" Lv Cheng frowned slightly.

Using the Demon Qi of the demons directly carries the risk of being devoured.

"Teacher, do you still remember what Luo Pei looked like?" Lv Cheng asked.

"Of course! I will never forget that damned Saint Warrior!" Shendu raged.

"What are you trying to do?" Shendu suddenly had an ominous premonition.

Lv Cheng smiled, "Teacher, are you interested in the art of sculpture?"

"You want to use a statue of Luo Pei to resurrect him?" Shendu asked.

"Don't forget, my current power..."

"I know." Lv Cheng shook the Pure Yang Sword in his hand.

"I know that your Spell Divine Power cannot be used normally right now, but that is only because it cannot be used in the outside world."

"My respected teacher, you could perfectly well create the statue of Luo Pei in Hell and resurrect him there."

Shendu's expression stiffened, "Actually, having been locked up for too long, I also reme..."

"Remember what?" Lv Cheng leaned in front of Shendu with an innocent look, resting the Pure Yang Sword against his neck.

"..."

"I remember!"
