Chapter 140: The Grimoire
After finishing the exchange with the magical scientist, Tenjo Hikari prepared to leave.
Although being allowed two Dimensional Travels per month was a tremendous privilege for a student, his Spirit Adaptability was still too low—even with Tierra's boost, it only reached a six-star level, and staying too long would still affect his next journey. Moreover, the magical scientist hadn't prepared a new "endgame," so Tenjo Hikari had no intention of lingering.
After resting for a few days, he would use H College's Dimensional Gate to visit "the Mountain."
Since the Village of the Magic Clan was where magic users gathered, perhaps the Mountain would occasionally draw spirits from the Bird and Beast Clan, the Dragon Clan, or the Thunder Clan?
Though not the "Dragon's Ravine," it was still the Field Magic card of these three clans—perhaps he might even encounter some "ancient" spirits?
Thinking this, Tenjo Hikari wasted no time. After agreeing with the magical scientist to return in two months to challenge his new endgame, he prepared to leave this dimension.
But just as he was about to depart, Tierra glanced behind him and warned, "Tenjo Hikari, don't rush back."
"What is it?" Tenjo Hikari asked.
"A spirit has come looking for you."
"And there's such a thing?" Tenjo Hikari was surprised.
In the Village of the Magic Clan, challenging a spirit required submitting an application—so someone actually came to find him voluntarily?
But when he turned around and waited for the spirit to approach, he realized—
Huh.
Mistake.
It wasn't—
It was a magic user, wearing a blue magic robe and a magic hat, panting as he ran, clutching a glowing grimoire.
At first glance, you might not recognize him.
But after a moment's recollection, Tenjo Hikari identified him.
Grimoire Mage Barthol.
A lower-tier monster from the former 【Super Mainstream】Grimoire series, a powerful lower-tier monster capable of adding any 【Grimoire】magic card to the hand.
Even before Tenjo Hikari's transmigration, this card was still used by some, because it could search for the Ice and Fire Grimoire and transform into "Pot of Greed" to draw two cards.
In short, he was a card-filtering expert.
But—
Since he had nothing to do with Fusion, he certainly wasn't a spirit who came voluntarily. Such good fortune didn't exist.
"Oh dear, puff… I'm not skilled enough, not skilled enough…" Barthol sprinted up to Tenjo Hikari, gasping, fanning himself with his hand to cool down.
"Hello," Tenjo Hikari greeted. "You're looking for me? What's this about?"
Uncertain of his intent, Tenjo Hikari treated him as a regular spirit encounter and engaged in conversation.
"Oh dear, oh dear, I nearly messed up." Barthol quickly straightened his robe, cleared his throat twice, and looked up at him. "You are the Dimensional Fusionist, the heir to the Legendary Alchemist, Master Tenjo Hikari, correct?"
"Uh… yes." Tenjo Hikari's lip twitched at the title, feeling an odd sense of embarrassment.
"Haha, perfect, perfect." Barthol sighed in relief, rummaged through his grimoire, flipped a few pages, and said, "First, allow me to introduce myself—I am Barthol, a magician of the 【Grimoire Academy Laimaison】."
Tenjo Hikari nodded.
Though he already knew, nodding was still the right thing to do.
"Our Grimoire Academy is dedicated to spreading the Grimoire, to all magicians… no, not that line." He flipped another page. "Ah, here it is—this is it."
He flipped through several pages and said, "Lord Crowley sent us to find you, because we heard you appeared in the Village of the Magic Clan, so they dispatched me to locate you."
"Crowley?" Tierra tilted his head, thinking. "I remember—Lily the Angel said Aleister was Crowley, right?"
"Ah, yes, Crowley is Aleister, Aleister is Crowley—both are his names," Barthol replied with a smile.
"So you came to find me—wait, is this about Master Professor Dadesi?!"
Barthol nodded. "Yes. Lord Crowley instructed me to inform you: your teacher has successfully reached the Realm of Magicians. You've been to the Warrior's Realm, haven't you? You should understand—it's the closest place to the Netherworld, guarded by the Pharaoh's protectors."
Tenjo Hikari finally exhaled in relief.
In his duel with Master Professor Dadesi, the man hadn't used the Philosopher's Stone, and even attacked all of Tenjo Hikari's friends—but Tenjo Hikari knew he was merely testing their growth, seeing if they were ready for the future.
If one day Master Professor Dadesi was possessed by some random evil force—Yu Beier, the Light of Annihilation, darkness, or something else—and then fought them again, he'd be utterly unable to bear it.
He certainly wouldn't just sit around waiting to be defeated, but actually fighting him would be painful.
"So what about Master Professor Dadesi now?"
"Reincarnated," Barthol said, pinching his chin between thumb and forefinger, eyes rolling upward in thought. "I've never been to the Realm of Magicians, so I can't be certain of the details—but according to Lord Crowley's message, he will become the highest-tier magician!"
Barthol didn't elaborate. In his understanding, if Crowley said that, the minimum was a ten-star or higher powerful magician!
He might even become a terrifying twelve-star magician—
But he dared not voice this speculation aloud.
Hearing this, Tenjo Hikari was stirred with excitement again.
For his teacher to reincarnate as a powerful spirit, no longer vulnerable to evil forces, was certainly worth celebrating.
Moreover, the higher the spirit's rank, the more memories it should retain, right?
Like the Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl—they ultimately retained full memories, manifesting as "Mahad" and "Mana."
After returning, he could tell his classmates—this would reassure them.
"So that's all?" Tenjo Hikari asked again.
"Hmm, there's more." Barthol pulled a card from his grimoire and handed it to Tenjo Hikari—it was a magic card, inscribed with strange glyphs.
"What's this? The Grimoire Academy's coordinates?"
Barthol shook his head. "Your own book already records our academy's coordinates—we wouldn't dare give them to you prematurely."
That made sense.
"This is our Grimoire Academy's certification card. Next time you wish to challenge a magician, show it to them." He pointed toward the distant Exchange Guild. "Our certification card is quite useful."
Wow.
Tenjo Hikari felt both thrilled and regretful.
Thrilled because with this, he could now challenge rare magician clan monster spirits; regretful because from the Fusion Army, he'd obtained a Dark Magician, and aside from wanting "Summoner Aleister," he had no other pressing needs.
Aleister himself had said he would only duel and test him again once Tenjo Hikari found the Realm of Magicians—he clearly intended to remain guarding Master Professor Dadesi's reincarnation.
Still, having it is better than nothing!
If he ever obtained cards like "Ojama Magician" or "Keeper of the Forbidden Tomb," he could always come back—after all, he could visit anytime.
For now, he needed to return to the human world and rest, then visit the Instant Noodle Company.
