Chapter 145: The Absolute Fusionist

Tiancheng Guang glanced at his hand cards.

Because of Long Long Qi's Hand Card Annihilation, Tiancheng Guang discarded two Lei Long and replaced his hand cards; his current hand was unexpectedly quite strong.

But at this moment…

Tiancheng Guang looked at the face-down card on his opponent's field.

Long Long Qi had his hands in his pockets, appearing utterly unconcerned; on the contrary, he watched Tiancheng Guang with keen interest, as if he was quite satisfied with the duel so far.

"The effect of Lei Long fusion in the graveyard can only be activated by banishing it from the graveyard if it was not sent there this turn. Add one Thunder-Type monster from your deck to your hand."

"I add Gem Knight Huang Bi to my hand."

"Then…"

Tiancheng Guang stared at his hand cards.

"Activate the spell card: Gem Knight Fusion."

"This card is a fusion spell exclusive to Gem Knight monsters. I use Gem Knight Bai Jing and Gem Knight Huang Bi from my hand as fusion materials to perform a fusion summon—"

"Gem Knight Light Prism!"

Captain Bai Jing raised his shield and tapped it with his lance, feeling a sense of novelty.

Gem Knight Light Prism, Level 7, Earth Attribute, Thunder-Type, ATK 2450.

Whether it was an illusion or not—he wasn't sure—but in his memory, this was the first time Tiancheng Guang had properly used "Gem Knight Fusion" to fuse directly from his hand.

"In the graveyard, the effect of Gem Knight Fusion: You can activate it by banishing one Gem Knight monster from your graveyard. Add that card from your graveyard to your hand. I banish Huang Bi from my graveyard and return it to my hand."

"Next, activate the effect of Gem Knight Light Prism: Once per turn, by discarding one 'Gem Knight' card from your hand and targeting one face-up card on the field, you can destroy that card."

"I discard Gem Knight Fusion from my hand to destroy your Superconductive Dino—" (Note 1)

Gem Knight raised its prism, aiming it at the Superconductive Dino. The Superconductive Dino roared, its body flashing with lightning—zizz! —it erupted in electric energy, but the lightning struck Light Prism and bounced back like a mirror reflection, BOOM! —shattering it into fragments.

"Hehehe… well done." After his monster was obliterated, Long Long Qi could clearly sense the audience's growing anxiety and speculation.

The atmosphere had reached its peak!

"You're trying to use your Ancient Mechanical Ultimate Giant with 4400 ATK and Light Prism's 2450 ATK to reduce my LP to zero, right!?

But can you actually pull it off?!"

Tiancheng Guang glanced at his hand.

The two cards on the left were fusion cards he obtained by exchanging two Lei Long during Long Long Qi's Hand Card Annihilation; the one on the right was a card used to search for fusion materials.

If the face-down card Long Long Qi had covered truly was that card, this attack would surely fail!

If that's the case—

"I activate the spell card: Fusion Conscription!" Tiancheng Guang inserted a spell card into the slot. "According to its effect, by revealing one fusion monster from your extra deck, you can add one monster named in that fusion monster's fusion material description from your deck or graveyard to your hand. After this card is activated, until the end of this turn, you cannot summon or special summon the monster added to your hand by this effect, nor can you activate its effects, or those of any monsters with the same name!"

"I reveal Electronic Twin Dragon from my extra deck, then add Electronic Dragon to my hand."

"Still searching at this point?"

"Then… battle—" Tiancheng Guang raised his hand and shouted, "Enter the Battle Phase!"

"Whoa!!"

"Be careful, Mr. Dino!"

"This is exactly what I've been waiting for!"

Hearing Tiancheng Guang was about to attack, Long Long Qi's lips curled upward. His eyes widened sharply, the earlier lifeless demeanor vanished instantly, replaced by fiery intensity: "Activate the trap card!

Zhu Zhu Luoji Impact!"

As expected!

Tiancheng Guang cried inwardly.

"I can only activate this trap card when I control a Dinosaur-type monster with 2500 or more ATK!

Destroy all cards on the field!"

"All of them!?"

"Destroy!!!"

The spectators erupted in collective gasps.

"Go, Colossus Beast!"

Upon hearing his command, Zhu Zhu Luoji Colossus Beast leapt high again, then wildly gathered flames. Countless fire meteors plummeted from the sky, as if heralding the end of the world.

Amidst the screams, the Colossus Beast crashed down from the heavens, striking the field directly.

BOOM—

Storms, blazing suns, fire rains—all imaginable disasters seemed to unfold on this duel field.

Neither Gem Knight nor the colossal machine stood any chance against the terrifying meteor; both vanished from the field.

The field was instantly cleared.

After a while.

The dust settled.

The duelists reappeared on the field.

Tiancheng Guang LP: 3500.

Long Long Qi LP: 2400.

The field, now spotless.

The crowd fell silent, feeling what they had just witnessed was nothing but an illusion.

At this moment, Long Long Qi broke the silence first: "Tiancheng Guang, I've seen you on TV—during duels between our dimension and X-Dimension's youth."

You once said fusion is the noblest summoning method in the world.

When I saw you appear at our factory, when I heard you were going to endorse our company's product—even as a technical shareholder—I desperately wanted to know: whether you still had the same spirit you showed on that TV program—"

He continued: "I know better than anyone: climbing onto TV, becoming a celebrity, a great duelist, growing arrogant, looking down on others, even joining dark forces and devouring souls…

What good is being Japanese Champion or Runner-up if it's all just surface glitter?"

Wow…

This Long Long Qi was openly insulting himself!

Tiancheng Guang was utterly surprised.

He hadn't expected this man, decades after the Yu-Gi-Oh! original story, to reflect so deeply.

"You spoke up for me during my argument with company staff—I was glad. Your duel performance so far has been quite surprising. But I can't take the risk—

I want to see your duel!"

"It's currently the Battle Phase. Your monsters are all destroyed. My LP is still 2400, and I have more cards in hand than you." He looked at his hand. "Next turn, I still have a chance to summon a powerful Dinosaur…

If you can't win this turn—no, if you can't win during this 【Battle Phase】, you will lose!"

He widened his sharp eyes: "Come on—prove to me, to everyone, to us, to the company, to our future—that you truly are, as advertised on TV, an Absolute Fusionist!"

"Whoa!" "Ssshh—"

"Oh my god, Mr. Dino, you're being too…"

The staff didn't know what to say.

Tiancheng Guang couldn't help but laugh.

"How interesting… Master." Tiancheng Guang stared at his hand. "I've heard the legend of Yugi Muto. I always thought you were just a clown…"

Upon hearing this, Long Long Qi showed no change in expression.

"But today I realize—you truly are a legendary duelist!"

"If so, I'll use the two cards you drew with Hand Card Annihilation to demonstrate my 【Fusion】!"

"Pay half my LP to activate the quick-play spell: Electronic Fusion Support!"

Tiancheng Guang LP: 3500 → 1750.

"After this card is activated, this turn you may only perform one fusion summon of a Machine-Type fusion monster. You can banish from your hand, field, or graveyard the monsters specified as fusion materials for that fusion monster, and use them as fusion materials!"

"First card!" Long Long Qi's expression remained unchanged as he recited the number: "You have one card left in hand—【Electronic Dragon】—meaning you only have one card left to use!"

"My second card is—Quick-Play Spell: Electronic Load Fusion!" Tiancheng Guang swiftly revealed his card; the artwork showed three Electronic Dragons merging in a spinning vortex!

"You can only activate one card with this name per turn. Return to the owner's deck fusion materials specified by the fusion monster card from your field or banished monsters. Then, fusion summon one fusion monster from your extra deck that uses 【Electronic Dragon】 as material. During this turn, your other monsters cannot attack."

"But… because of Electronic Fusion Support's effect, you can use monsters from your hand and graveyard, correct?" He lightly tapped his forehead with one finger. "First one… Electronic Dragon."

"Then, Ancient Mechanical Ultimate Giant and Ancient Mechanical Knight from the graveyard!" Tiancheng Guang added.

Tiancheng Guang raised his hand high: "Three Machine-Type monsters, fuse together!"

Long Long Qi gently lowered his hat.

He knew what monster would appear.

"Ancient warrior of distant past, knight who guards allies by command—now, gather around Electronic Dragon—"

He clenched his fists and raised them above his head.

"Fusion Summon!" He pulled his hands forcefully toward his chest, "Hybrid Overload Dragon!"

Click-click-click—

Ding-dong-ding—

BOOM…

Countless mechanical dragons flew in from all directions, coalescing into a massive hybrid form, each of its heads glowing with electric light.

"Whoa…"

"Heavens, this…"

The audience could no longer speak.

It actually succeeded!

They all thought Mr. Dinosaur was pushing too hard!

Chimera Overload Dragon, Level 9, Dark Attribute, Machine Type, Attack Power?

"The Attack Power of Chimera Overload Dragon is 800 points per Fusion Material. That means—"

"Exactly 2400 points."

Dinosaur Long Qi hid his eyes beneath his hat and clapped happily himself: "Well done!"

"Chimera Overload Dragon, attack Mr. Dinosaur directly!"

Amid the applause, Dinosaur Long Qi's Life Points dropped to zero!

Chapter Four, completed the duel.

First, "Note 1": My original idea was to write a dramatic low-health scenario with a perfect lethal strike. But I forgot that after Superconduct Attack, you can't explode HP—so Superconduct is still alive. Thanks to the reader's reminder—I often write this novel chasing style and soul, making many mistakes, and I appreciate everyone's continued support (rubs head with an awkward smile).
