Chapter 162: The March of Light and Dark

~7 min read 1,235 words

A massive gate slowly opened within the Star Fall Continent dimension.

Once the gate was ajar, two colossal orbs of light surged out, colliding in mid-air. They clashed, erupting with terrifying violet lightning, then slammed into the ground, carving out deep craters.

Occasionally, the two orbs would collide with such force that they shattered mountain walls, triggering rolling rockslides—a scene of terrifying, cataclysmic proportions.

"Heh heh heh, Lei En, you are still as irrational as ever."

"Gefa, what exactly are you trying to do!"

After several more clashes, the two orbs came to a halt, slowly revealing their true forms.

The one called "Lei En" was a demon wielding a golden spear, looking immensely powerful and radiating "colorful" light; it was Lei En, the Dark World Demon God.

"Gefa," meanwhile, was a grey demonic dragon with wings that blotted out the sky, exhaling ferocious heat and wreathed in violet lightning. It was Gefa, the Dragon God of the Dark World and another of its spirit administrators.

The two beings stood opposite each other, seemingly of the same origin. As they ceased their fighting, more and more demons emerged from the pale gate.

One faction, led by "Bulong the Mad King of the Dark World," gathered behind Gefa.

The other faction, significantly smaller in number, followed "Sinu the Artificer of the Dark World."

Once the demons had split into their respective camps, they could all see that Lei En had sustained heavier injuries from the fight, its wounds oozing blood that shifted in color. Yet, the Demon God remained silent, its gaze fixed solely on the Dragon God.

Since the disappearance of the "Supreme King," the Dark World had split into two factions: one led by Demon God Lei En, seeking to find and awaken the Supreme King's reincarnation, and the other led by Mad King Bulong, who sought to exploit the Supreme King's lingering prestige to invade other spirits and seize resources.

Originally, the Demon God faction had been the mainstream, as Lei En was the stronger of the two.

Some time ago, Lei En heard that the Military God had discovered the Supreme King and was deeply moved. However, upon learning that the Mad King’s subordinates had attempted to assassinate the Supreme King, internal tensions escalated. The Mad King seized the opportunity to unseal the Dragon God of the Dark World, completely tipping the balance of power.

Lei En was weaker than Gefa, and the nature of demons is to obey the stronger. Thus, Lei En, once the voice of the mainstream, had been reduced to this desperate state.

"Lei En, we go way back, so I won't kill you. Just watch in fear and anxiety as I slay the Supreme King, seize his invincible power, and rule over all worlds!" Gefa laughed wildly, spreading its wings and leading its entire legion of demons away.

"Lord Demon God, are you alright!" Sinu flew to Lei En's side. Lei En swayed weakly before standing tall.

"Do not worry about me. The Supreme King is what matters! We must protect him and ensure his power does not fall into Gefa's hands—Sinu, regarding the previous matter..."

"I have already entrusted it to my friends!" Sinu replied, though it hesitated for a moment. "However... they have been acting quite strange lately."

"It does not matter! As long as the Supreme King returns, everything will be set right!"

With that, the demons marched in a vast, imposing procession, leaving the gate and heading toward their destination.

It was the afternoon of the following day. Tenjou Hikari sat in the lobby of the Kaiba Corporation, engaged in a video call.

Though the signal was somewhat unstable, the communication remained relatively smooth.

"Hikari, *static*, I've met two new friends here. I'll introduce you later; I'm sure you'll really like them—" Judai was exchanging updates with Tenjou Hikari.

He had already learned that Jim used a "Fossil Fusion" deck, and thinking that he and Tenjou Hikari would get along well, he decided to keep it a surprise for now.

Tenjou Hikari didn't know the specifics, but he was deeply concerned about Judai's recent situation.

"Over here, the matter with the Society of Light has concluded." Tenjou Hikari recounted the recent events in as slow and steady a tone as possible, reassuring Judai that the internal threat was gone, before turning his questions back to Judai's situation.

He was fully prepared to head over to Judai's location to assist.

"No, Hikari, there is something more important." Upon hearing that the Society of Light was no longer a threat, the pressure Judai had been under for days eased significantly, but he then brought up another matter.

It concerned the "sealed dueling zones."

There were likely still students trapped in those areas who were unaware of the outside situation. If they were to step out and be ambushed by demons without any preparation, they might fall before they could even react.

Judai didn't want to see that happen, so he asked Tenjou Hikari to investigate the situation on his end.

"Hmm... like the situation in the Amazon, I see." Tenjou Hikari nodded upon hearing this.

During this time, he had been busy rescuing students trapped on the train tracks and rushing to resolve the internal threat of the Society of Light, leaving him no time for precise, targeted investigations.

Judai's concern was not unfounded. If someone like Misawa were to step out after living a peaceful life only to be ambushed by a passing demon, he might very well end up defeated.

Thinking of this, Tenjou Hikari immediately replied: "I understand. I will find the person in charge at Kaiba Corporation, get the detailed locations and addresses of the duelists from them, and send them to you.

I will prioritize arranging and coordinating the rescue efforts to save as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. You don't need to put too much pressure on yourself."

Judai let out a sigh of relief.

In moments like these, Tenjou Hikari was the friend he worried about most, yet also the one he trusted most.

He worried because if even Tenjou Hikari were to fall, who else could he trust?

Yet he felt at ease because with Tenjou Hikari around, he felt that no problem was unsolvable.

With Principal Samejima's credentials and Tenjou Hikari's personal reputation, he successfully obtained the detailed maps from the Kaiba Corporation staff during this critical time. He posted them to the Academy forum and "White Dragon X" for everyone to see, then took close-up photos and sent them to Judai. Just as he finished these tasks and was about to chat more with Judai, he noticed the image on his phone flickering, and the voice dissolved into static. His expression turned grim.

Could demons have attacked a communications tower?

Just as he thought this, a shocking cry erupted outside the Kaiba Corporation branch office.

"Angels! It's angels!"

"Angels! Angels have come to save us!"

What was going on?

Tenjou Hikari put away his phone and walked outside. He saw that the sky above the station, which had been shrouded in dark clouds for days, was suddenly descending with warm, divine light.

Humanoid and dragon-like beings with pure white wings were slowly descending from the sky, their forms resembling angels from mythology.

No...

They *were* angels!

Tenjou Hikari suddenly realized.

Wasn't that Lightsworn Angel Cherubim on the flank?

It was the Lightsworn!
