Chapter 189: Phantom Fusion Summon!

~7 min read 1,266 words

"Come then, let me see your duel, human from another dimension."

Can it speak?

Tenjo Hikari raised an eyebrow.

"My turn, draw."

The opponent, thoughtfully, did not engage in the world's popular Ride Duel, but instead chose a conventional duel.

Though he could not discern his opponent's identity and thus could not perform his favored "Information Duel," Tenjo Hikari did not particularly care about this.

He carefully examined his hand, then revealed one card: "I activate the Field Spell, Fusion Regeneration Mechanism."

A clinking sound echoed across the field as countless drones took flight and began working.

"Activating the effect of Fusion Regeneration Mechanism: discard one card from your hand to activate. Add one 【Fusion】 card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand."

"I add the Spell Card 【Exchange Fusion】 from my Deck to my hand."

Tenjo Hikari added the Fusion card from his Deck to his hand, then revealed another card: "Normal Summon, Elemental Hero Prism Man."

A crystal warrior, resembling a figure with two wings, appeared on Tenjo Hikari's field.

"Once per turn, you may show one Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to your opponent, then send one monster from your Deck with the same name as that shown monster to the Graveyard."

"Until the end of this turn, this monster's name becomes the same as that shown monster's name."

I show the Extra Deck's Super Raijin-Draco, and send the Raijin-Draco from my Deck to the Graveyard.

"Oh? A universal Fusion material? As a Fusion material, it is indeed extremely powerful." The Skull Knight glanced at the card's effect and offered a brief comment. "Human from another dimension, continue your duel."

He appeared remarkably at ease, clearly very confident.

Tenjo Hikari frowned slightly, still unsure of his opponent's true nature—but at this point, it hardly mattered.

Activate the Spell Card: Raijin-Draco Fusion!

He flipped over another card and displayed it to his opponent.

"This card allows you to return monsters on the field, in the Graveyard, or banished to the Deck, then Fusion Summon one Thunder-Type Fusion Monster!"

Tenjo Hikari narrowed his eyes, raised his hand, and clenched it tightly—as if gripping a bolt of lightning: "Enter the new realm of Fusion—Fusion Summon!"

Super Raijin-Draco!

BOOM!

A streak of lightning split the sky, and a dark dragon's silhouette slowly emerged from the mist, revealing its true form.

Super Raijin-Draco, Level 8, DARK Attribute, Thunder-Type, ATK 2600.

"Oh ho, quite a formidable monster." The Skull Knight remained utterly confident, seemingly unfazed.

"You seem awfully confident," Tenjo Hikari remarked, raising an eyebrow at his opponent's unshakable assurance—unafraid of Super Raijin-Draco. "I wonder if this confidence is genuine, or merely arrogance like those nobles."

"Activate the effect of the discarded Fusion Armor: add this card to your Deck and shuffle, then draw one card."

Tenjo Hikari drew a card, glanced up at the Skull Knight, and set it face-down.

"One card face-down. End my turn."

"Hehehe..." The Skull Knight chuckled softly, and as he laughed, faint blue ghostly flames flickered from his mouth.

"My turn, draw—"

As he spoke, in Tenjo Hikari's eyes, the Skull Knight's body suddenly swelled, his skeletal skull looming directly before him, as if ready to swallow Tenjo Hikari whole.

Tenjo Hikari frowned, leaning slightly forward. The dark power, the aura of death, inexplicably stirred a sense of "fear" within him—though the feeling came and went swiftly, he recognized his opponent's extraordinary nature.

Meanwhile, Tierra clapped her hands sharply, summoning Infernoid Satan.

The demon's appearance granted Tenjo Hikari an added layer of protection; strange flames burned upon its dark form, pushing back the surrounding death and decay.

The Skull Knight opened his mouth and emitted a "kekeke" sound—good heavens, this was the first time Tenjo Hikari had ever heard such an eerie laugh in real life.

"Indeed, my observations these past few days were correct."

Upon hearing this, Tenjo Hikari confirmed his earlier suspicion.

This man had been secretly observing him for a long time—and today, he had chosen to strike while Tenjo Hikari was alone!

"Your dark power is stronger than I imagined. Though it lacks that ultimate darkness, this evil... it perfectly suits my needs..." The Skull Knight grinned grotesquely, his jaw clicking with each laugh, making Tenjo Hikari wonder if the man might physically lose his lower jaw.

But—

Evil power?

He glanced at Tierra, who shrugged, indicating she had nothing to say.

Though she herself held no concept of "good" or "evil," her actions stemmed purely from her divine role; to humans, her power and creations were undeniably "evil."

Just as Ma Ling Wang had once possessed Shen Lin Yao and deemed her utterly evil, now with the genuine demon Satan added to the mix, being labeled a villain was only natural.

Clearly, the Skull Knight also regarded him as an otherdimensional user of dark power.

And he had come here for precisely that reason.

"My turn, human. Let me show you the 【Fusion】 that belongs to the dead."

!?

What the hell?

Tenjo Hikari thought he had misheard.

In the S Dimension, in this world likely a hybrid of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, where "Synchro" dominated—how could someone use "Fusion"?

He froze for a moment, but his opponent had already begun his move.

"When your opponent has a monster on the field and you have none, this card can be Special Summoned!"

"Come forth, my soldiers!"

"Special Summon: Phantom Fire Spearman, Phantom Spear Soldier!"

A skeletal warrior spun his spear and leapt onto the field.

Phantom Fire Spearman, Phantom Spear Soldier, Level 5, DARK Attribute, Zombie-Type, ATK 2000.

Phantom...?

Huh?

At last, Tenjo Hikari realized who his opponent was.

The only person who used this deck—Rudiger Godwin!

Rex Godwin's older brother!

So he really was the "Skull Knight"—not a spirit!

But—

How was this possible?

His mind momentarily clouded.

These past days, he had conversed with You Xing and You Wu—no matter how he looked at it, this world was clearly the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime world. Why would a manga character appear? Yet soon after, he accepted it without question.

It wasn't strange at all.

Even Wan Zhang Mu was Kaiba's disciple in this world.

"Next, Spell Card—Phantom Fusion!"

He tossed down a Spell Card depicting a rotating skull and dragon on its artwork.

Seeing this card, Tenjo Hikari was stunned.

"This card allows you to Fusion Summon a monster on your field with a Zombie-Type monster from your Deck or Graveyard—"

Holy crap, it's the original Phantom Fusion!

Tenjo Hikari stared excitedly at Phantom Fusion—the real card required his Life Points to be lower than his opponent's to use Deck monsters as Fusion materials!

His entire Fusion collection obsession ignited instantly.

"Fusion Summon the Spearman on the field with the Phantom Dragon from my Deck!"

The skeletal warrior on the field and the death dragon from the Deck turned to bone and soared into the air.

"With the souls of two dead, summon the Dragon of the Netherworld!"

As he shouted, the once-calm sky shattered like glass, cracking into countless fissures. A colossal dragon with a skull face hammered its claws against the broken world.

"Break through the gates of the Netherworld!"

The Dragon of the Netherworld slammed its head into the world, shattering it and tearing open a massive black hole.

Tenjo Hikari felt a sudden difficulty breathing, forcing Tierra to frown, raise her hand, and manipulate countless puppet threads to expand Satan's size—only then did his discomfort ease.

"Phantom Fusion Summon!"

"Dragon of the Netherworld, Dragon of the Dead!"
