Chapter 232: Heretic Doctrine – Wrath
Ding ling dang lang.
Because the God of War's body had turned into a card, the axe in its hand fell to the ground with a crisp metallic clang, and then the parchment it held also dropped to the floor.
"Lord Gao Gao Erde!!!"
"Aaaah————"
The spirits watching erupted in terrified screams; in just "an instant," the General who had crushed them with overwhelming power and won their unquestioning loyalty had been instantly obliterated—this sight left them with no courage to stay, and they all fled toward the still-fading Dark World gate, but before they could even reach it, purple puppet threads spread like a net, wrapping them all up at once and trapping them outside the gate.
And in the final instant before the Dark World gate vanished completely, under the gaze of Tiancheng Guang and Tierra, a black mist like steam suddenly rose from the card of "Dark World God of War" lying on the ground; before anyone or any spirit could react, it transformed into white light and shot with a hiss directly into the gate, disappearing from this dimension as the gate shut.
"What was that?" Tierra had somehow run over to Tiancheng Guang's side, pointing at the gate with curiosity.
Tiancheng Guang offered no explanation, as the light merged into the gate and the several cards previously held by the God of War began to shift and emerge one after another, forming figures.
The Elemental Heroes revived from their cards.
"Uh…"
"Where is this?"
"Cough, cough, cough… Is Miss Bud here? I need healing…"
"Where are the citizens! Where did the citizens go!"
A large group of Elemental Heroes, just regaining their senses, immediately began chattering anxiously.
Compared to the God of War's noise, these sounds were nothing to Tiancheng Guang.
"Everyone—" As they stood confused, Sailor Hero swung a chain from the ceiling, then snapped it back, pulling himself down and landing on the ground; he quickly explained to his comrades what had happened around them.
That saved Tiancheng Guang the trouble.
While Sailor Hero was thanking Tiancheng Guang, he walked to the spot where the God of War had stood, picked up the God of War's axe, swung it around, then handed it to Wan Rong, whose eyes sparkled with gold.
Don't say—
This thing might actually be gold!
Then came the physical form of the Dark World God of War, Gao Gao Erde: a Level 5, 2300 ATK, Demon-Type monster card.
Although this card might be useless in Tiancheng Guang's deck, he remembered that before his transmigration, the Dark World had shifted from the "Dark World Uncharted Realm" discard strategy.
The current Dark World… is a Fusion deck!
Dragon King Shao Shou? Just discard.
Beyond that, the important parchment bore a human figure.
"Hmm…"
Tiancheng Guang pulled the parchment, examining it carefully up and down, hesitating for a long while without recognizing who it depicted.
First, structurally, it had a nose and eyes—roughly a human face. But beyond that, every stroke gave Tiancheng Guang only one impression: abstraction.
The drawing style on the parchment was nothing like human art; it looked more like a demon—perhaps, to the demons of the Dark World, this was the more orthodox style.
Give me a sketch instead!
Who could possibly recognize this!
Creak—
As he pulled the parchment, Tiancheng Guang suddenly felt an odd texture; he pulled further downward and discovered something strange hidden between the layers.
He had Wan Rong, the alchemist beside him, gently cut it open with the axe, then shook it slightly, pulling out a card.
"Huh? There's a card inside?" Tierra asked, puzzled. "I didn't sense anything."
She didn't sense it at all!?
Tiancheng Guang picked up the card, glanced down—and Tierra leaned in curiously; he quickly stopped her, telling her not to come closer.
Heretic Doctrine – Wrath!
Effect: When this card is sent to the graveyard, all other cards with the same name in the graveyard are banished from the game.
At first glance, a completely meaningless card—but…
This isn't an ordinary card—it's a ritual offering!
A component of the "Heretic Doctrine," the sacred book used to seek the ultimate fusion: "Super Fusion"!
In the original story, Wan Wan Zhangmu and others were possessed by Heretic Doctrine, their malice toward Judai amplified to madness, leading to their gruesome deaths and driving Judai insane.
Tiancheng Guang looked again at the parchment—now he understood what it was truly for.
These Dark World spirits came to capture "tributes."
And it looked like Heretic Doctrine was mass-produced.
So they were casting a wide net to find tributes.
Tiancheng Guang frowned.
The Dark World was, by design, under the command of the King of Kings, but it had also been influenced by Yu Beier.
It seemed his own time to be "targeted" was drawing near.
Yu Beier, with its Light Wave…
In the original story, until Yu Beier fused with Judai and used the power of Cosmic Darkness to finally defeat the Light Wave, the Light Wave had intermittently influenced every person harboring "evil thoughts"—amplifying greed or granting supernatural power; the Light Wave spread like a malignant source, waiting for someone powerful enough to destroy the world.
And Yu Beier's collaboration with it was "adding wings to a tiger."
After all, Yu Beier was top-tier in both dueling and physical combat; in the original story, it had utterly forced Judai into a corner, leaving him no choice but to fuse with it using Super Fusion to resolve the crisis.
And this… clearly, was an enemy Tiancheng Guang had to face.
This wasn't Tiancheng Guang meddling.
In fact, throughout his time in this world, Tiancheng Guang had always focused solely on his own goals; though aware of certain evil figures, he never interfered unless they directly targeted him—like most background spirits in the original story, or enemies who opposed Judai; he hadn't even met many of them.
For instance, he'd never seen the artificial human Soga or the Gravekeepers.
Judai's duels with Ai De, the Hero vs. Hero battles, the paths chosen by Chui Xue, San Ze, Wan Wan Zhangmu—they were their own decisions; Tiancheng Guang could only offer advice, but the final choice was theirs.
Even during the Seven Stars incident last year, he'd prepared to give Judai the Philosopher's Stone—or simply hand over Super Fusion—if Director Yinwan came to challenge Judai.
Because he knew Yinwan wasn't seeking the strongest duelist—he was seeking the duelist with the strongest spirit power.
Though Director Yinwan had inexplicably died later, his intentions hadn't changed.
Do your own thing. Help friends when necessary. You're not a babysitter, and they're not infants—everyone has their own mind; otherwise, how could they become excellent duelists?
What he wanted to accomplish at the academy was still to oppose the Fusion Army!
But…
Yu Beier.
There was no choice.
This was something he had to face—even if Tiancheng Guang had no interest, even if he believed Judai in this world, with better allies and stronger duels, could defeat Yu Beier—he still had to confront Yu Beier.
Because—
Yu Beier would attack indiscriminately anyone near Judai!
Whether through dueling or supernatural power, it would use both!
Not to mention he himself was Judai's close friend.
But distancing himself from Judai because of this? Impossible.
He became friends with Judai not because Judai was the original protagonist—he became friends with him after Judai invited him to a tag duel, and over time, grew close to this lively, passionate man.
His other friends were much the same.
So there was no possibility of distancing himself!
"Human warriors!" On the other side, the Elemental Hero warriors had clarified the situation, lined up, and bowed solemnly to Tiancheng Guang. "Thank you for your aid!"
He tucked away Heretic Doctrine – Wrath, then smiled and replied: "No need for such formality. Helping those in need is what any duelist would do. Don't be so polite."
Tierra nodded along.
"But as those who were aided, we must express our gratitude—"
The leader, Elemental Hero Thunder Giant, captain of the remaining guardians of Motianlou, after thanking them, quickly asked if the two human warriors had any needs in their world—
Finally, the original plan for dimensional travel could proceed.
"Yes, yes—you know Duel Academy, right?"
"Ah! Of course—I understand now. You're friends with Judai—"
Though he'd only visited a few times, Judai was already quite famous among the Hero spirits.
"I understand… but Motianlou is currently…" Thunder Giant looked slightly embarrassed.
Given Motianlou's current state, finding a suitable opponent for a new human warrior was difficult…
"No problem! Any opponent will do!" Tierra raised her hand excitedly, trying to get the heroes' attention.
She herself was itching for a fight.
"I see. Understood." Thunder Giant nodded. "Then let us rest briefly and find an opponent for this female warrior. Please, proceed to the Hero Guild to rest."
"Thank you."
