Chapter 244: Final Preparations
Before coming here, Tenjou Hikari had specifically and carefully watched the duel between Dinosaur Ryuzaki and Insector Weevil.
On one hand, he wanted to see what new cards Insector Weevil now possessed.
On the other hand, he needed to examine closely whether Insector Weevil was playing any tricks during the duel.
Even with Tierra present, Tenjou Hikari could not let his guard down.
After all, the goddess Tierra herself was a deity who would "passively slack off" and pretend not to exist once she lost interest in her surroundings; if she found the duel against Insector Weevil truly boring, then after returning to the workshop, Tenjou Hikari would have to rely solely on his own physical attributes to deal with Insector Weevil's ambushes.
And since he saw that the opponent's duel was actually such a "duel,"
Tenjou Hikari naturally had other ideas.
Tactically speaking,
Insector Weevil and Dinosaur Ryuzaki had similarities, but their tendencies were different.
For instance, Dinosaur Ryuzaki leaned more toward destruction, while Insector Weevil leaned more toward restriction.
However, that was not important—
What mattered was that Dinosaur Ryuzaki's tactics were extremely simple and direct.
Self-destruct!
Of course, with the Ultimate Mutant Insect Queen on the field, insects could not be destroyed by card effects, so when dueling Insector Weevil, Dinosaur Ryuzaki attacked first before self-destructing.
However, when dueling Dinosaur Ryuzaki, Insector Weevil did not use Hand Destruction to swap the Insecticide in his hand; he used it directly.
After all, the opponents were different; even if the hand was designed beforehand, the tactics would still differ.
Similarly, for Tenjou Hikari's deck, it was rather difficult to execute Dinosaur Ryuzaki's line of thought.
After all, he didn't have cards that could blow up the entire field—
Fortunately, he had other tricks up his sleeve.
"Normal Summon, Elemental Hero Prisma!"
Tenjou Hikari summoned Prisma from his hand once again.
"Prisma's effect: Once per turn, I can show a Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck, send one Fusion Material monster listed on that Fusion Monster's card from my Deck to the Graveyard, and then treat its name as that card's name.
I will send Dark Magician from my Deck to the Graveyard!"
"Dark Magician!!??"
Seeing this, Insector Weevil cried out in shock.
The people beside Tenjou Hikari couldn't help but crane their necks to look, while the cameraman displayed ten times his usual professionalism, frantically moving positions to capture several close-up shots of the Dark Magician card.
Although everyone had heard that Tenjou Hikari possessed this card, seeing it on television and witnessing it with one's own eyes were two completely different experiences!
"Next, I activate the effect of the Field Spell, Fusion Recovery. Once per turn, I can discard one card to activate this effect. I select one 'Fusion' from my Deck or Graveyard and add it to my hand."
Tenjou Hikari had adjusted his deck, primarily altering the number of standard Fusion cards to make room for more cards capable of Deck Fusion and Extra Deck Special Summons.
However, the reason he hadn't used this card's effect last turn was simply because he already held two Fusion cards in his hand, so there was no necessity to discard a card.
"I discard Metalmorph Fusion from my hand." Tenjou Hikari sent the card he drew via Hand Destruction last turn to the Graveyard, then opened his Graveyard viewer. "I add Fusion from my Graveyard to my hand."
"Then, I'll also activate the effect of Metalmorph Fusion. I return this card from my Graveyard to my Deck and shuffle it. Then, I draw one card."
Tenjou Hikari returned Metalmorph Fusion to his Deck; after the Deck automatically shuffled, another card popped out.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Wow..."
Now, all the conditions were truly gathered.
"Activate Continuous Spell Card, Power Bond!"
This was yet another card that most people had never seen in their daily lives.
However, when everyone saw the illustration on this card, they knew—this card was absurdly powerful.
At least in this world!
Because the card art actually depicted the Chaos Warrior riding the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, gathering for an attack!
"Wh-what is that?!" Insector Weevil subconsciously stepped back.
These existences had brought him much "pain" in the past.
Don't ask how the pain came about; it just had been brought.
"Activate Spell Card, Fusion." Tenjou Hikari ignored his opponent and activated Fusion directly. "I will fuse Prisma on the field, treated as 'Dark Magician', with Chaos Warrior in my hand!"
"One power guides the light, one power guides the darkness!"
"When the powers of light and darkness intertwine, Chaos shall descend!
Appear.
Level 8, Super Conductor Warrior - Chaos Ruler!"
The warrior clad in golden armor flung open his cape, wielding the long blade and shield in his hands, tearing through the void to suddenly appear beside Tenjou Hikari.
Super Conductor Warrior - Chaos Ruler, Level 8, DARK Attribute, Spellcaster Type, ATK 3000.
"Ohhhhh!! The legendary Chaos Warrior form of Dark Magician, unique to student Tenjou!" The cameraman went crazy again, constantly snapping close-up shots.
"Dark Magician, huh..." Watching this monster via the broadcast, Dinosaur Ryuzaki sighed in admiration.
"Chaos Ruler's effect: When this card is Fusion Summoned successfully, I can Special Summon one LIGHT or DARK Attribute monster from my Graveyard. I choose, Prisma."
"At the same time, the effect of Power Bond activates! If a Ritual or Fusion Summon using 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' or 'Dark Magician' is successful, I can target one card on your field or in your Graveyard. That card is banished!
I banish your Ignore Tribute—"
"Oh no!"
Seeing his Continuous Spell disappear, Insector Weevil groaned in pain under his breath.
As long as Ignore Tribute was on the field, when the opponent attacked, he could banish one Insect-Type monster from his Graveyard to negate the attack.
"You despicable fellow, you knew I would use this card, that's why you chose to banish it—"
"Who is the despicable one? You chose to draw this card at this very moment, didn't you!!" Tenjou Hikari immediately countered with a sharp rebuke.
"Eeek!!" Insector Weevil was so frightened he stepped back half a pace.
"Activate Chaos Ruler's effect: I tribute all LIGHT and DARK Attribute monsters on the field to banish all Monster Cards on your field!"
"All of them!" Insector Weevil looked at the insects beside him. "Wait, don't banish my bugs—"
However!
It was already too late!
"I tribute Chaos Ruler itself and Prisma!"
Chaos Ruler raised his blade, his own body gradually becoming ethereal; then, with merely a swing of his weapon, the sky seemed to crack open a fissure. The insects used their claws to grip the ground with all their might, but they were still lifted into the air, absorbed by the void, and vanished without a trace.
"Damn it... But in that case, your field is empty too!" Insector Weevil growled. "You want to imitate that guy Ryuzaki, but you simply can't..."
"I still have cards in my hand!" Tenjou Hikari inserted his final hand card into his Duel Disk. "Activate Equip Spell, Refusion!
By paying 800 Life Points, I can Special Summon one Fusion Monster from my Graveyard to the field! Return, Chaos Ruler!"
Tenjou Hikari LP: 1400 → 600.
"Hah!"
Chaos Ruler's body emerged from the void, returning from the Netherworld.
"Direct Attack!"
"Waaaaahhh—"
Insector Weevil LP: 4000 → 1000.
Tenjou Hikari glanced at his Graveyard.
After thinking for a moment, he decided it was safer to keep one card in hand at this time, so he declared: "Activate the effect of Swap Fusion, which was discarded last turn; I banish it, return one Fusion Monster from my Graveyard to my Extra Deck, and draw one card."
After all, there were no Fusion Monsters in his Graveyard last turn, so this card was useless then; as the card discarded for Hand Destruction, it at least allowed Tenjou Hikari to refresh his hand.
Tenjou Hikari looked at the card he drew, his eyes suddenly widening.
It's here!
The card Dinosaur Ryuzaki gave him—
I'll use this to decide the match!
Chapter Three, Chapter Three, unsure if the fourth update can be finished before midnight, anyway, I'm writing it.
