Chapter 253: Advancing Monarch

"My turn."

Tenjou Hikari drew a card, glanced at his hand, and then sized up his opponent.

"Do you know what a high-probability small-probability event is?"

"Hmm? What is that, human mathematics?"

"Activate the effect of Metalfoes Fusion in the graveyard, return this card from the graveyard to the deck, shuffle, and draw a card."

Tenjou Hikari looked down.

Curse of Dragon.

"..." On the other side, the Light Emperor saw this scene and couldn't help but punch the air silently.

5 hand cards.

Destroy 1 card.

Not only is it not a monster, but it's this kind of effect!

The Light Emperor couldn't help but curse in his heart.

Thestalos is such a useless thing. I'll take it out of the deck later. After I become the strongest, I must go back to the domain and scold it severely.

Tenjou Hikari drew the card and scanned the cards in his hand.

"Activate spell card, Instant Fusion." Tenjou Hikari took out a card from his hand, "Pay 1000 life points, fusion summon a fusion monster of level 5 or lower from the Extra Deck!"

"What I want to fusion summon is this—Level 1, Thousand-Eyes Restrict!"

Tenjou Hikari LP: 4000 -> 3000

An eye opened on Tenjou Hikari's field, and immediately after, countless eyes combined to form a terrifying evil god.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict, Level 1, Dark, Spellcaster, ATK 0.

"Heh, an evil god that can devour monsters... although its attack power is low, it possesses an extremely powerful effect—but! It's useless!"

The Light Emperor opened his cover card: "Open cover card, continuous trap card! The Monarchs Erupt!"

Flames suddenly ignited on the Fire Monarch, and rolling flames began to burn along the entire racecourse arena, igniting the entire arena. Many spirits even instinctively began to sweat and fear.

"This is a continuous trap card that can only be activated if there are no cards in your Extra Deck and there is a tribute summoned monster on your field!"

"As long as this card exists in the Spell & Trap Zone, the effects of face-up monsters on the field other than tribute summoned monsters are negated!"

"Lord!" Gaia whispered, "This is the card that defeated me—"

"What a powerful effect." Flame Swordsman also couldn't help but speak.

"Hmm hmm... negating monster effects on the field is indeed very powerful, Tenjou Hikari." Tiera touched her chin and kept nodding, "So that's it. As long as there is this effect, you don't need fusion monsters or synchro monsters, you can still fight, maybe even more powerful."

She then looked at Tenjou Hikari's hand again.

But actually, it's nothing big.

"Indeed, one side has monster effects and the other doesn't. No matter how you look at it, it's a clear gap, but there is one thing that will not change." Tenjou Hikari put a card into the duel disk, "That is attack."

"Activate continuous spell, Flame Sword Domain!"

Like the Light Emperor's field, the same flames ignited from Tenjou Hikari's side, but unlike the flames that wanted to melt people, this flame turned into a fire dragon in the air, dispelling the surrounding flames and protecting the weak spirits.

"Ha, at this time, we brothers should work together!" Flame Sword shouted enthusiastically.

"The effect of Flame Sword Domain, once per turn, send a monster from your hand/field to the graveyard, and fusion summon a Flame Swordsman!"

"I send Thousand-Eyes Restrict on the field to the graveyard, fusion summon, Flame Swordsman!"

Flame Swordsman came riding a fire dragon, facing the Monarch who controlled the lava, without any fear.

Flame Swordsman, Level 5, Fire, Warrior, ATK 1800.

"Heh, what's the big deal about that level of fusion monster even if it appears?" The Light Emperor didn't care at all.

"Then let's 【fuse】 even more—equip spell card, Dragon Fire Fusion!" Tenjou Hikari continued to play the fusion spell card, "This card can be equipped to a Warrior/Fire monster, increasing that monster's attack power by 700!"

Flame Swordsman, ATK: 1800 -> 2500.

"What, it actually exceeded Thestalos!?"

"Battle, Flame Swordsman, stop the lava!"

"Leave it to me!" Flame Swordsman jumped high, heading toward the surging lava Monarch. The ruthless Monarch turned around to stop it, but was dodged by the Flame Swordsman with superb sword skills, and then stabbed in the throat.

Boom—

The Fire Monarch was directly defeated.

Light Emperor LP: 4000 -> 3900.

"Wh-what? Actually hurt Lord Light Emperor!?"

"Wow! The attack succeeded!! Defeated that terrifying Fire Monarch!"

"Humph, what are you excited about? You guys, paying 1000 life points just to cause a mere 100 points of damage, what's so powerful about that!"

The spirits argued, and Tenjou Hikari's side, because they were weaker and often bullied, their voices gradually became smaller at this time.

Tenjou Hikari didn't speak, because there was no need.

As long as they win, they will naturally pick up confidence slowly.

"End turn."

Unlike the spirits around him.

Tenjou Hikari not only understood the Monarch deck, but could even be called "especially understanding."

It's not that he likes playing Floowandereeze, Monarchs, or True Draco decks, Tenjou Hikari understands this card completely because he did experience playing doubles with someone using a Monarch deck before crossing over.

The scene was very abstract.

He looked at The Monarchs Erupt.

"That card will be destroyed in the end phase if there are no tribute summoned monsters on your field, right."

The Light Emperor was stunned.

"You actually know!?"

Tenjou Hikari raised the corners of his mouth: "Dueling with friends, with opponents, and even with enemies, regardless of preferences, understanding and knowing the opponent is the true knowledge of 【fusion】. Whether it's tribute summon or fusion summon, it's just a means—but, like you, no matter how powerful the means are, it's just a waste of effort!"

"Bastard!" The Light Emperor was furious when he heard Tenjou Hikari say this, "Just destroyed that useless Thestalos, and you think you can defeat me!? Too naive! Don't underestimate my Monarch deck—

Draw card!"

He looked down and immediately played: "Spell card, Pot of Greed, draw two cards."

Immediately after, several golden stars appeared on his body, looking very happy: "If the opponent has two or more cards in the Spell & Trap Zone, this card can be special summoned!"

He directly played a card.

"Erebus the Underworld Monarch's Squire!"

A white magician wearing a red cloak appeared on the field.

Erebus the Underworld Monarch's Squire, Level 4, Water, Aqua, ATK 1000.

"Next, use the Underworld Monarch's Squire as a tribute, tribute summon—Mobius the Frost Monarch!"

Following the rolling lava, it was bone-chilling cold. Countless ice cubes froze the flowing magma into ice cubes, and then turned into huge ice pillars, freezing everything around.

One of the most practical Monarchs, Frost Monarch!

Mobius the Frost Monarch, Level 6, Water, Aqua, ATK 2400.

"When the Frost Monarch is tribute summoned, you can destroy two Spell/Trap cards on the field." The Light Emperor pointed at Tenjou Hikari's field, "Destroy your Dragon Fire Fusion and that Flame Sword Domain!"

Tenjou Hikari raised his eyebrows.

The flames were frozen by the ice, gradually extinguished, and then the entire arena was completely turned into ice, making the spirits who felt hot and even sweated have to hug each other to keep warm.

"This effect sounds much more powerful than the Fire Monarch." Tiera said.

"Just in case, I'll use this—"

"Continuous spell card, March of the Monarchs! As long as this card exists on the field, your tribute summoned monsters cannot be the target of effects and cannot be destroyed by effects!"

"As a price, as long as this card exists on the field, I cannot special summon monsters from the Extra Deck—of course, I don't have that kind of card."

One of the classic cards for Monarch deck teammates.

"Battle, Mobius, freeze that swordsman who provokes the king into an ice sculpture!"

The Frost Monarch put his hands together in front, blew a violent gale, and the ice and snow swept over, instantly freezing the Flame Swordsman who was trying to counterattack the Monarch as before, and then exploded into pieces with a bang.

Immediately after, countless ice pillars exploded from the Flame Swordsman's body, stabbing Tenjou Hikari, leaving several wounds on him.

Tenjou Hikari LP: 3000 -> 2400.

"Hehehehe... 2400, just enough for the Monarch's strike." The Light Emperor looked like this, "Humph humph, you should be glad that the turn I summoned it cannot attack, otherwise you would be killed by me personally."

Defeating the fusion monster and seeing this life value, the Light Emperor's confidence suddenly exploded, brighter light appeared on his body, and he couldn't help but laugh out loud.

And his followers and servants also couldn't help but sneer.

"Lord!" Gaia was a bit anxious, wishing he could perform hand-to-hand combat with the opponent.

"Don't be anxious, Gaia. This is just the beginning." Tenjou Hikari shook his head, "You haven't seen new friends yet."

While speaking, Tenjou Hikari pointed to his side, and at the same time, several illusory figures also appeared, waving hello.

New friends—

Gaia was a bit puzzled, and then shifted his gaze over.

So many!?

"My turn—draw card!"

Tenjou Hikari looked at the card he drew, looking at the pattern on the card, and couldn't help but shrink his pupils.

It was actually this card.

He looked at the opponent: "Indeed, the existence of The Monarchs Erupt, March of the Monarchs, and Domain of the True Monarchs, ordinary duelists using fusion, I'm afraid they would be easily defeated by you. Even Gaia lost to you.

But—

It's a pity, this duel, it seems it's going to end here."

"Ha, what kind of wishful thinking are you talking about? With my ultimate seal, the power of the Monarchs, how can you cross the heavy seals to defeat me!?"
