Chapter 29: The Backwater Alchemist from Another Dimension

"Aoo!" Bai Jing revealed a card from his hand, showing it to Tiancheng Guang, then a massive card image materialized before everyone's eyes.

The Art of the Summoner?

Tiancheng Guang remembered this card—it lets you add one Level 5 or higher Normal Monster from your deck to your hand.

Bai Jing's deck glowed, then a massive, smoke-wreathed white crystal coalesced in the sky. With a sharp "crack," the card shattered, revealing its true form.

Gem Knight, Bai Jing.

He added himself to his hand?

"Uuoo—" Bai Jing immediately set down two more face-down cards, then pulled another Spell Card from his hand.

Spell Card: Hand Destruction—both players discard all cards in hand, then draw the same number of cards as discarded.

Tiancheng Guang glanced at his hand, instinctively rubbed his fingers, then gathered the cards and sent them to his Duel Disk's graveyard. After the Disk automatically returned five cards, he drew five new cards.

This finally allowed the Alchemist, who'd been unable to salvage the experiment site and could only watch the duel, to examine Tiancheng Guang's deck.

"What? What? Easy Fusion, Future Fusion, Instant Fusion, Fusion Release… and a Fusion Armor??" At this point, he didn't even care why Tiancheng Guang had 【Fusion Armor】—he clutched his head and screamed, "We're done! We're dead! Why does this have to happen now?! Why did I have to meet a duelist who just started?!"

"Hmph… then let me show you, the backwater alchemist from another dimension." Hei Yan, quieter and colder than the Flame Swordsman, delivered a cutting remark that left the Alchemist speechless.

Tiancheng Guang wanted to say something.

But right now, he had to focus on the opponent's moves—since the man wasn't speaking at all, if he suddenly pulled a "bluff" or "cheat," Tiancheng Guang wouldn't have seen it, and that would be bad.

After using Hand Destruction, Bai Jing activated the face-down Spell Card he'd set earlier.

Normal Spell: Monster Reborn.

Generally speaking, except for Quick-Play Spells, all face-down Spell Cards can be activated in the same turn, so Tiancheng Guang had no objection to this combo. It seemed this poor Alchemist had sneaked out alone and become stranded in this shattered dimension, endlessly running experiments to find a way back—until now.

As the most familiar Fusion Spell effect activated, Wan Rong Alchemist felt momentarily dazed.

No wonder those two spirits were so loyal to this human—it wasn't without reason.

"Next, I activate the Normal Spell: Fusion Soldier!" Tiancheng Guang revealed a Spell Card depicting the Flame Swordsman and activated its effect: "This card can only be activated once per turn. Show one Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to your opponent. That monster can then be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck or graveyard, if it has a Fusion Material monster named in its text."

The Special Summoned monster cannot attack until the end of your opponent's turn, and its effects are negated—

I show Black Yan Knight from my Extra Deck, then… Flame Swordsman, it's your turn."

"Oh! My Lord, I'm already burning with hot-blooded passion!" The Flame Swordsman cheered, leaping from the stands onto the field, raising his sword directly toward the towering knight opposite him.

He didn't mind being used as a stepping stone or a "work-to-death" sacrifice—he danced joyfully with his blade.

"U-Using this method… a material-less Fusion?" Wan Rong Alchemist couldn't help but remove his hat blocking his view, staring at the field.

"Heh, well? Got it now?" Hei Yan laughed. "Our lord will shatter your imagination!"
