Chapter 78: The News of Gaia
"Hello! You're here!"
Hikari heard a girl's voice calling out; he looked around, then finally turned to Judai.
"Where?"
"Right in front of you?"
"Oh dear, it seems you still can't see me~" The girl's voice continued, "But you will soon, right?"
I see.
Hikari nodded.
He could vaguely sense something before him, but unfortunately, he could still only hear the spirit's voice—without a three-dimensional image, he remained unable to see the spirit.
"First, I'm sorry~ Sorry, sorry!" Hikari seemed to see a golden-haired girl with her hands clasped, bowing repeatedly, "Anyway, you should know why I'm here, right?"
Hikari glanced at Judai; Judai spread his hands, indicating he had no idea.
"Oh come on, you're so dumb—Chaos Warrior, Chaos Warrior!"
"Ah! You're the one Chaos Warrior sent?!" Judai's eyes lit up, "Oh oh oh!! Does this mean we can go back again—?"
"Chaos Warrior asked me to deliver this for you—"
Seeing that Judai still didn't understand, the Black Magician Girl could no longer hold back; she swung her staff and drew a bridge of light in the air. On the bridge, a card appeared and slowly floated down to rest before Hikari.
"Hah! Isn't that guy?!"
"Hahaha, I thought he'd forgotten!"
Hikari heard the voices of Flame Sword and Black Flame; his curiosity deepened. He reached out, took the card, and examined it closely—
No way!?
Chaos Warrior!?
No other card, no restrictions, no embellishments, no flashy effects—just these four words: Chaos Warrior!
Level 8, Warrior-Type, Earth Attribute, Ritual Monster!
"This?" Hikari stared, dumbfounded, as he took the card.
"Master, it's Gaia! Gaia!"
"Gaia? Oh—" Judai suddenly understood beside him.
"Gaia? Could it be… the Dark Knight Gaia who fought alongside Winged Dragon as a tag duel partner back then?" Hikari looked at the card in his hand, "He actually evolved into Chaos Warrior?"
"Bingo!" The Black Magician Girl cheerfully replied, "They say that after you defeated that warrior, he worked hard to correct his mistakes and collaborated with a Light-attribute spirit to complete the Chaos Ritual."
"But I heard he still plans to challenge himself further. Once he fully completes his transformation, he'll come personally to apologize and join you." The Black Magician Girl gently tapped her hat with her staff.
I see.
Hikari nodded lightly.
Though he had no Ritual Magic, and though he might never have a use for it, he truly received Gaia's intention.
"And then, there's something else." The Black Magician Girl floated in midair and pulled out two more cards, "These are coordinates for two worlds. Each of you take one."
Hikari and Judai each took one card.
"Chaos Warrior asked me to deliver them to you."
She pointed at Judai first and said, "This is the coordinate for a dimension where a Fire-attribute female hero resides."
"Ah! It's Hot-Blooded Lady!" Winged Dragon flew out excitedly, "Judai, we—"
"Shut up, go squat over there!" Gold Captain kicked him flying.
"Ahahaha…" Judai scratched his cheek, slightly embarrassed, "So that's how it is—thank you!"
He never expected Chaos Warrior would care about his friends' whereabouts—it left him speechless.
That quiet, fair-minded warrior was unexpectedly very kind-hearted.
"As for this one… oh dear, sorry." The Black Magician Girl tapped her head with her staff, "I came to the world of the living to help, but when I saw your celebration, I couldn't resist sneaking in—and forgot…
This is the coordinate for the Village of Magicians. Consider it compensation. Please don't tell him I forgot this! Please! Please! If you don't answer, I'll take it as a yes!"
"Oh, and one more thing—the prize for losing the duel, right? I get it, I get it, I know the rules!" She pulled out another card and scribbled her signature on it, "Ta-da! Ultra-ultra-ultra-ultra powerful card! Knight of the Black Magician Girl! This is a card only I have! Here you go! Don't lose it!"
"Whoa, what's that? I've never heard of it!" Judai's eyes sparkled as he stared at the Fusion Monster.
On the card: a Black Magician Girl in silver-white magical armor, holding a shield and sword, beneath her stood a dragon Judai had never seen before!
Knight of the Black Magician Girl!
A unique form of the Black Magician Girl, summonable only by Fusion Summon or "Eye of Timaeus!"
This is an extremely powerful Fusion Monster for this era.
Unfortunately, up until now, Super Fusion hadn't given him the "Legendary Dragon."
At least for now, Super Fusion couldn't produce a card like the "Legendary Nameless Dragon"—perhaps his spirit power was still too low, after all, he'd been making rice for so long.
This card's strength is considerable; to receive it was pure luck. Hikari was very satisfied.
After giving Hikari and Judai their instructions, the Black Magician Girl cheerfully departed. She dared not linger too long in the human world—should Katsuya Jonouchi discover her, it wouldn't be fun. If he tracked her down, her master might scold her severely, so she simply opened a magic array and left this world.
"What a pity," Judai said after she left, rubbing the back of his head, "It seems we won't be able to explore other worlds together during the break."
He had to find his friends—he certainly couldn't travel with Hikari to the Village of Magicians.
"That's normal, isn't it?" Hikari smiled. "Time and energy are limited, after all."
Meanwhile.
"Serena was found by Chronos? And taken to the girls' dormitory?" Seima Zero-Oh, seemingly just returned from another world, heard the report but did not frown.
Hehehe.
Chronos, you don't think capturing my "daughter" will make me hesitate, do you?
You have no idea what I'm planning.
At this moment, he felt he had outwitted Chronos.
Where Serena was didn't matter—what mattered was that she remained alive and within his knowledge, within reach.
Chronos believed he had discovered his "secret," captured his daughter, and could make him fearful, hesitant—clearly, he was far too naive.
He didn't care about such things!
What he cared about more was Serena calling Hikari "Master," further damaging the Fusion Army's reputation.
But it was fine—using Serena's situation to bicker with Chronos and mask his true intentions was not bad at all.
And another point.
"This Marufuji Ryo—is he Marufuji Ryo's younger brother?" He studied a file.
"Yes, he joined our Fusion Army some time ago!" The Red Academy representative quickly replied, "They say he joined on the day Hikari seized the Fusion name."
"His performance today was outstanding!" The Fusion Army members assigned to protect Serena hurried to say, "He first devised a way to get the female duelist involved in the duel, then used words to pressure the onlookers into pressuring Hikari, and even said things like 'You can't use the effect of looking at your hand—it's invading a girl's privacy!' to embarrass Hikari!"
"Unfortunately… our coordination wasn't good enough. We failed to make Hikari slip. Please punish us, Professor!"
"Interesting. He's Marufuji Ryo's younger brother, yet he voluntarily joined us at this moment?" Shinrin Yō frowned, "Professor, he's likely a spy!"
When Marufuji Xiang saw how badly the Fusion Army had lost, and wanting to change himself, he followed Hikari's advice and joined the Fusion Army, treating it as a way to toughen his mindset amid a world full of weirdos. He figured that even if something happened, Hikari had promised to rescue him—so he wasn't afraid. After all, it was just a hobby club; he didn't need to show up every day. He had nothing to fear.
"Can a spy be more outstanding than our own people?" Seima Zero-Oh shook his head.
"Hehehe, I understand. No wonder I've never heard his name before. Perhaps he was suppressed by his older brother? Maybe he's long resented his brother's existence—and finally found his chance?"
He pondered for a moment, and a plan formed in his mind.
Under the heavy blow Hikari had dealt the Fusion Army, he could, just like Chronos, create an "idol" for their own ranks!
Marufuji Xiang—ambitious, capable, and Marufuji Ryo's younger brother—was a perfect candidate!
Once other students learned that the younger brother of "Kaiser" had joined the Fusion Army, wouldn't more newcomers flock in?
By the way, the card Chaos Warrior best embodies the Yu-Gi-Oh! concept that "same card name, completely different cards." In OCG, there are clearly both a Normal Monster version and a Ritual version of Chaos Warrior; aside from their category, all stats are identical. But in the same deck, you can only include up to three cards total of both versions combined.
In this novel, different "Future Fusion" cards follow this format: only three total can be included, but each type can be included.
