Chapter 28: Chen Wei, Launch the Server!

~3 min read 572 words

At this critical moment, Cai Qiu originally didn’t want to leave the studio, since official server launch was less than twenty-five minutes away.

As a participant in the game, who wouldn’t want to witness this thrilling moment?

But Chen Wei’s words were indeed true.

The number of pre-downloads far exceeded their expectations, yet their server capacity cap was only five hundred thousand.

Beyond this number, players would encounter queueing delays upon entering the game.

For a large game company, this might not be an issue—in fact, they’d welcome it, easily solved by adding more server groups.

But for them, this was a fatal problem.

They had no backup servers…

If the first batch of players who entered never logged out, the players waiting in line would never get in.

The queue wait time didn’t need to be long—two hours without access, and players would absolutely explode.

They’d curse the game and leave a bad review on the spot, and that’d be the kindest reaction.

On the first day of server launch, reputation absolutely could not collapse because of this.

Otherwise, trying to bring these players back later wouldn’t be easy at all.

“Alright, you hold the line—I’m going to find Fish Brother!”

Cai Qiu finished speaking and immediately rushed out of the studio, then sprinted all the way to Qin Xiaoyu’s apartment complex.

Ten minutes later, Qin Xiaoyu, just waking up from bed and washing his face, was suddenly struck by a thunderous banging on the door.

“Fish Brother! Fish Brother! Are you home? Hurry to the studio—something huge is about to happen!”

Cai Qiu gasped for breath, pounding on the door and shouting at the top of his lungs.

A moment later.

The door swung open from inside—Qin Xiaoyu had a toothbrush in his mouth, sleep still clinging to his face.

Seeing him like this, Cai Qiu was instantly speechless.

“What’s all the yelling for?” Qin Xiaoyu glanced at Cai Qiu, then turned and walked back toward the bathroom.

“Today’s the official server launch—you’re the game’s lead creator, and you’re still asleep? Is that reasonable?!”

Cai Qiu followed him into the room, utterly unable to understand why he was so calm.

Suddenly,

he seemed to realize something, and couldn’t help but chuckle teasingly: “Fish Brother, so you’ve got a cowardly side too?

Are you worried the number of pre-orders is too high—if no one logs in today after launch, you can’t handle it, so you’re too nervous to even go to the studio?”

The more Cai Qiu thought about it, the more likely it seemed—this had to be close to Qin Xiaoyu’s real thoughts.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Cai Qiu remembered the real reason he’d come, quickly sobered, and continued seriously:

“Fish Brother, your worries are unnecessary. But now a bigger problem has come up—our servers might not be enough—we need to fix this immediately.”

“I’ve already asked Gaohe to arrange temporary servers—he promised to deliver them by noon. Let’s go back to the studio.”

After wiping the water from his face, Qin Xiaoyu turned to look at Cai Qiu and spoke calmly:

Qin Xiaoyu knew exactly the capacity of their original studio servers.

Although he wasn’t certain the servers would definitely crash today, to be safe, he’d already asked Gaohe for help last night.

But Gaohe said he could only deliver them by noon.

So going early wouldn’t help much—that’s why he’d slept until now.
