Chapter 47: The CEO of Tap Platform Sent a Congratulatory Telegram!
April 14th.
It was a typical Friday evening in Xia Country, the weather dreadful, with most of the Jiangnan region having entered the plum rain season nearly a month early.
As Qin Xiaoyu and Chen Wei reached the lobby, they were stopped at the entrance by a heavy downpour.
The two exchanged a glance; neither had brought an umbrella.
They could only stand awkwardly under the glass awning, sheltering from the rain.
"Brother Fish, this rain... doesn't seem like a good omen!" Chen Wei looked up at the obscured sky and extended his hand outside to catch the falling drops.
Hearing this, Qin Xiaoyu chuckled softly and patted his shoulder: “Wei, you’re tensing up too much. Our game’s success doesn’t depend on the heavens…”
“That’s true, but… I still feel uneasy.”
Chen Wei lowered his gaze, his brow furrowed into a “ Chuan ” shape. After a long pause, he added: “There are only a few minutes left before the gacha pool switches. Why don’t you go eat on your own? I need to go back and watch it—I won’t feel at ease otherwise!”
Qin Xiaoyu had originally invited him out to help him relax.
Now it seemed to have had no effect at all.
But.
He knew deep down that no matter how much he tried to persuade him, Chen Wei wouldn't be swayed, so he merely shook his head and asked: "What do you want to eat? I'll bring it back."
“Whatever!”
Chen Wei glanced at his phone’s time, dropped the words, and turned on his heel toward the elevator.
Every second now felt like a year to him.
Of course.
Besides Chen Wei, a large number of Genshin Impact players felt the same.
Since the two videos of Klee were leaked at noon, they had been filled with boundless anticipation for the character.
Many players who had just returned home from work opened their phones to log in—only to find themselves back in the queue.
Frustrated, they couldn’t help but curse the entire MHY team.
More accurately, they cursed every member of the development team except the music, art, and writing staff.
Angry players nearly crashed the official website.
Fortunately, this situation didn’t last long.
By 6:15 p.m., all players waiting in line were suddenly let into the game.
The reason? Not because a large number of players quit, but because Chen Wei, rushing back from downstairs, had arranged for two additional server groups to be deployed on short notice.
…
At seven p.m., Qin Xiaoyu returned to the studio with a takeout meal.
As he stepped through the studio’s entrance, he froze in place.
Holy shit!
A dense crowd had completely packed the main conference room.
“Didn’t I tell you all to go home on time? What are you all doing here?”
Walking to the back of the crowd, Qin Xiaoyu tapped one of the outermost men and stared at him in confusion.
“Don’t—”
Before he could finish the word, the man recognized Qin Xiaoyu and quickly corrected himself: "Brother Fish, we stayed on our own accord—we're watching Klee's gacha pool stats!"
This is the first character gacha we’ve ever participated in at the studio. We didn’t contribute much, but everyone’s curious!
It’s already at four million—it’s skyrocketing!”
These young people, like Chen Wei,
were all filled with anticipation for Klee’s gacha pool revenue.
So much so that after work, none of them wanted to leave the studio.
Every few minutes, someone would rush over, knock on Chen Wei’s office door, and peek in to ask about the revenue figures.
