Chapter 228: The Great War of Ice and Fire

~26 min read 5,073 words

Vargo Hoat of Qohor, with the remnants of the Brave Companions and the remnants of the Mountain's forces, arrived at King's Landing.

After the Brave Companions and the Mountain's army were routed by the Wolf King's army, they quickly devolved into bandits in the Riverlands and the Westerlands; to escape the hunting of the Wolf King's army, they fled to the Reach.

Everywhere they went, the Brave Companions would hack off the hands and feet of commoners, while the Mountain took pleasure in torturing and ravaging women; they committed many heinous crimes in the Reach before finally being routed by Randyll Tarly.

With nowhere left to turn, the Brave Companions and the Mountain had no choice but to flee with their remnants to King's Landing.

The Regent Queen Cersei sat upon the Iron Throne and granted an audience to the Mountain and Vargo Hoat.

"You are truly models of loyalty. Ser Gregor, your brother Sandor has turned traitor; only you remain a loyal hound of the Lannisters."

The Mountain stubbornly said, "I am willing to be the eternal servant of Queen Cersei and King Joffrey."

Vargo Hoat of Qohor spat as he spoke, pledging his allegiance.

After Cersei dismissed the Mountain and Vargo Hoat, Jaime, standing to the side, frowned, "The Goat and the Mountain are models of loyalty? Their crimes are unforgivable to the nobles of every land; no one would take them in, which is why they came to King's Landing."

"The Wolf King Eddard has publicly declared that he will not forgive any member of the Brave Companions, for the mercenary company of Vargo Hoat has committed monstrous crimes. Pious Urswyck, Tym, Pyg, Shagwell the Fool—which one of them does not have hands stained with the blood of the innocent? And what of Qyburn, who studies the dissection of the living, or Septon Urswyck, who likes boys? Which one of them is a normal person?"

"As for the Mountain, his lands were stripped and occupied by the Wolf King Eddard and transferred to Sandor. The Mountain is now a stray dog; the Red Viper, the Hound Sandor, the Wolf King Eddard, and Daenerys are all hunting him, and the Tyrells of Highgarden have even placed a bounty on that ugly head of his."

Cersei gave a light snort, "What do you know? These people can spread fear; the Mountain and the Goat still have their uses. Once they die in battle for me, the Great Other will resurrect them directly as Death Knights."

"Whether it is Robert the Death Storm, Prince Rhaegar, or the Kingswood Brotherhood, they are all loyal to me."

They are loyal to the necromancer, Jaime truly wanted to shout at Cersei, yet Duke Tywin, Kevan, and Gillian had warned Jaime many times not to provoke the necromancer.

Joffrey and Cersei had already become fanatical believers of the Great Other, and the two had murdered many innocent commoners and followers of the Seven in King's Landing. Jaime looked at Cersei on the Iron Throne and felt as if he were seeing the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen of years past.

Back then, it was in the Throne Room that Jaime had used his Gilded Sword to slit the throat of Aerys II Targaryen, stopping the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen's plan to burn King's Landing with Wildfire.

The Cersei of today is even more insane and depraved than Aerys II Targaryen.

It is all caused by the necromancer Ogbeta; Jaime has always believed that it is the necromancer's evil magic that has controlled Cersei.

Cersei is merely vain, arrogant, greedy, selfish, impulsive, jealous, ostentatious, self-centered, dogmatic, vicious in her actions, proud and willful, cold-blooded and ruthless, and controlling—that is all.

If not for the necromancer Ogbeta whispering in Cersei's ear, Cersei could never have become so bloodthirsty.

Joffrey's scalp oozes pus every day, and every day, like a butcher, he personally sacrifices living people to the Great Other at the Dark Altar in the Red Keep. He is depraved and evil, though Joffrey had shown cruel traits since childhood, so Jaime was not surprised by his depravity.

What truly breaks Jaime's heart, in fact, are Myrcella and Tommen.

They are nominally Robert Baratheon's children, but in reality, they are Jaime's own seed.

Myrcella has golden hair and emerald eyes; she inherited her mother Cersei's beautiful eyes, yet she possesses not a shred of Cersei's viciousness. The maiden Myrcella has already shown the potential to be a great beauty.

Tommen is a simple, honest little fatty, docile and obedient.

The only thing Jaime finds fortunate is that Myrcella and Tommen have been living in the Maidenvault, which is protected by Lancel with Lannister men-at-arms. Many nobles stranded in the Red Keep, such as the twins of Lord Redwyne, Hobber and Horas, Lady Tanda Stokeworth, Lord Gyles Rosby, and others, all reside in the Maidenvault.

Even Grand Maester Pycelle, in order to avoid the necromancer, moved from the Xueshita to live in the Maidenvault.

The Maidenvault has become the only sanctuary in the terrifying Red Keep.

Myrcella and Tommen, who have lived in the courtyards of the Maidenvault, are unaware of the horrific events occurring in the Red Keep and King's Landing, such as the sacrifice of living people and the resurrection of the dead, but they have sensed that something is wrong.

When Jaime arrived at King's Landing, Myrcella and Tommen asked where the septas and septons they were familiar with had gone. Jaime could not answer, because these septas and septons who had educated Myrcella since childhood had all been killed by the necromancer and sacrificed to the Great Other.

Damn the necromancer Ogbeta; Jaime will never allow the necromancer Ogbeta to bring death and terror to his children.

Every night, Jaime personally sharpens his sword with a whetstone, dreaming that one day he can slit the necromancer's throat with a single strike and let his Gilded Sword drink the necromancer's blood.

However, Jaime knows very well that the necromancer Ogbeta can foresee the future in the darkness.

According to Grand Maester Pycelle, Lancel, and others, Tyrion, the eunuch Varys, and the Hound Sandor, Bronn, and others once carried out a carefully planned assassination in King's Landing, attempting to kill the necromancer Ogbeta. The assassination plan failed, many brave men lost their lives for nothing, and Tyrion, Bronn, Varys, and Sandor had no choice but to flee in the night.

To assassinate the necromancer Ogbeta, Jaime needs more patience.

The necromancer Ogbeta walked in, "Your Grace, the frost dragons and the giant bats have occupied Duskendale. Daenerys and her army have already left Duskendale."

Cersei revealed an evil smile, "It seems you resurrected Viserys and Khal Drogo, scaring Daenerys so badly that she fled directly back to the sea."

The necromancer Ogbeta said apologetically, "Your Grace, Daenerys's army did not flee; they went to Harrenhal."

"The Mother of Dragons and the Wolf King Eddard have formed an alliance."

Cersei's expression immediately turned gloomy.

"Impossible. Back then, the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen executed Eddard's father Rickard and his eldest brother Brandon. Eddard helped Robert Baratheon overthrow the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen; they have a blood feud, how could they possibly join forces?"

The necromancer Ogbeta revealed a terrifying, scarlet smile, "Daenerys and the Wolf King Eddard have reached a compromise. They both know very clearly that neither side can resist the army of the dead, which is why they chose to form an alliance."

"Daenerys and the Wolf King Eddard are both staying at Harrenhal. That is even better; our frost dragons can just happen to capture Harrenhal and wipe out Daenerys's Magic Dragon, the Wolf King Eddard's Magic Dragon, the giant eagles, the griffins, and the skinchangers all in one go."

Cersei leaned forward on the Iron Throne.

"Between the Wolf King Eddard and Daenerys, there are a total of six Magic Dragons. Which frost dragon do you intend to send?"

Jaime chimed in, "We must also be wary of Stannis in the south. Ever since he obtained the fire demon and the fire slaves, Stannis's strength has greatly increased."

The necromancer Ogbeta said, "The fire demon's strength is terrifying, yet the fire demon cannot purify the land cursed by the frost dragons like the Magic Dragons can. The land cursed by the frost dragons becomes barren. The Blue Queen and Seasmoke, these two frost dragons, will coordinate with the Kingswood Brotherhood and the Death Storm to deal with Stannis and the fire demon."

"Currently, the fire warrior Prince Duncan, the Dragonfly Prince, Jenny of Oldstones from Stoney Sept, Aegon V, and others resurrected by R'hllor are engaging in fierce battles in the Stormlands against the servants of the Great Other—the Smiling Knight of the Kingswood Brotherhood, Dick Straw, Wenda the White Fawn, Simon Toyne, Oswyn Longneck, Big Belly Ben, and others."

Jaime rubbed his sword belt, "I even had a hand in pacifying the bandits of the Kingswood Brotherhood back then. In those days, I followed the Sword of the Morning Arthur Dayne, Ser Barristan, and others, and it took a Herculean effort to pacify that band of bandits."

"Cersei, you actually resurrected the bandits of the Kingswood Brotherhood. Now, Stannis's side has actually resurrected the legendary member of the Kingsguard, Ser Dengken Jueshi, to fight against the undead Kingswood Brotherhood. If Ser Arthur Dayne knew this in hell, what would he think?"

Cersei giggled a few times, "Thanks for the reminder! If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten that we ought to resurrect the famous Sword of the Morning Arthur Dayne to fight for us."

This is the end; even the Sword of the Morning Arthur Dayne cannot rest in peace. Jaime was deeply depressed and hurriedly said, "You already possess so many Death Knights; resurrecting Arthur Dayne is completely unnecessary!"

Cersei said with a straight face, "It is very necessary! Stannis resurrected the legendary Ser Dengken Jueshi, and the traitor Ser Barristan has gone to serve under the Wolf King Eddard. Right now, among Joffrey's Kingsguard, you are the most famous, but you are the Kingslayer. Compared to Ser Dengken Jueshi and Ser Barristan, the Kingsguard of King's Landing is too lackluster."

"The Sword of the Morning Arthur Dayne, Oswell Whent, and the White Bull Gerold Hightower all died at the Tower of Joy in Dorne. If we resurrect them all, we will not only have three more Death Knights but also three legendary Kingsguard."

"Look, Oswell Whent is still a member of House Whent of Harrenhal; he is the most familiar with Harrenhal and might be able to help us capture it."

Cersei turned to the necromancer Ogbeta, "Gerold Hightower, Oswell Whent, and Arthur Dayne are all buried at the Tower of Joy in Dorne. I remember that several of Eddard's companions also died there. Quickly send out the undead to retrieve their remains and resurrect them."

The Skull Scepter in the necromancer Ogbeta's hand emitted bursts of blood-red light.

"Your Grace, rest assured. My dark bats have already spread throughout the Seven Kingdoms. We continue to sacrifice living people to please the Great Other, and my magical power grows ever stronger. As long as I can retrieve even a bit of their bone or ash, I can resurrect them."

Cersei was intrigued, her eyes flashing with malice.

"Back then, the bitch Lyanna also died at the Tower of Joy, but it is a pity that the Wolf King Eddard took Lyanna's ashes back to Winterfell, and they are now buried in the Crypts of Winterfell."

"I remember that the Kings of Winter, the Kings in the North, and the Dukes of Stark of every generation of House Stark are all buried in the Crypts of Winterfell. If you could think of a way to resurrect the Stark ancestors in the Crypts and make them serve us, wouldn't it be easy to create an army of the undead in Winterfell and catch Stark off guard?"

The necromancer Ogbeta smiled and said, "Your Majesty the Queen Mother, things are not as easy as you imagine. Winterfell was built by Brandon the Builder, which dictates that the foundations of Winterfell's walls possess magical power. Moreover, the Starks and the descendants of the First Men of the North remember many things that Southerners have forgotten; they know to place longswords before the statues of the dead to suppress ghosts."

"The Godswood of Winterfell also enhances the castle's magical defenses. Ordinary resurrection magic is difficult to succeed in Winterfell. Unless the undead occupy Winterfell."

"When winter comes, the Night King will lead the army of the undead to conquer the Wall and Winterfell. By then, our magical power will be even stronger, and only then will we have the opportunity to resurrect Lyanna and the ancestors of the Stark family."

Cersei smirked and said, "Once I resurrect Lyanna, I will make her my maid, and Robert the Death Storm and Rhaegar will be my guards."

"Immediately send a large army to attack Harrenhal. I want Daenerys and the Wolf King Eddard to taste the power of the frost dragons."

Jaime said, "Ogbeta, only a powerful wizard like you has the chance to win Harrenhal for the Lannisters. You should personally lead the frost dragons in the charge." And then it would be best to be killed by a magic dragon or cannon.

As long as the necromancer and the undead met their destruction, Jaime would rather the Lannisters lose this war.

The necromancer Ogbeta said, "I will take the field myself. Meraxes, the Dragon of Bronze Vermithor, and Dreamfyre—three frost dragons—plus the Death Knight Rhaegar, the Horse Lord Drogo, and the Sleeping Dragon Prince Viserys are enough to defeat the enemy."

"Prince Rhaegar's magical power is growing stronger; he will give his sister Daenerys a big surprise."

"Moreover, we have strong reinforcements waiting outside Harrenhal. I have already used bats to steal the three golden skulls of the Golden Company. At this very moment, Bittersteel Aegor Rivers, the ferocious Maris, and Blackheart Myles Toyne have all been resurrected."

"Especially Bittersteel Aegor Rivers; this man lost the game of thrones back then, lost his lands, his titles, his women, his love, everything. He has the deepest resentment. After being resurrected, he is filled with burning rage and soaring fighting spirit."

The Gods Eye lake south of Harrenhal, the Isle of Faces.

On the Isle of Faces is a forest composed of weirwood.

The Wolf King Eddard rode a giant eagle and landed in a cave in the middle of the weirwood forest, where he met the Wood Dancer Serenei of Lys.

Serenei of Lys sat on the Weirwood Throne. She was a withered old woman, yet in her youth, she was the most beautiful woman in Westeros. She was the youngest bastard daughter of Aegon the Unworthy, and her mother was Serenei of Lys.

Back then, the Bloodraven Duke Brynden Rivers, who came from House Blackwood, and Bittersteel Aegor Rivers, who came from House Bracken, became bitter enemies who could not exist under the same sky because they competed for the love of Serenei of Lys.

The Wolf King Eddard said, "Wood Dancer, the three golden skulls of the Golden Company have been lost. I suspect the necromancer will resurrect them. One of them is the founder of the Golden Company, Bittersteel Aegor Rivers."

The Wood Dancer Serenei of Lys nodded, her shriveled neck looking like a crumpled piece of old parchment.

"Yes, I saw it through the trees. At this moment, Aegor Rivers has already been reborn under the reshaping of dark magic; he has become a Death Knight."

"The other two golden skulls, the ferocious Maris and Blackheart Myles Toyne, have also been resurrected, but the threat of these two combined does not equal that of Bittersteel alone."

"Do you remember when we first met in this cave on the Isle of Faces? I once told you that Bittersteel Aegor Rivers would definitely be resurrected. Plating the skull with gold preserves it better, and the bone retains more memories, hatred, and resentment. It is very easy for a necromancer to resurrect such a golden skull."

The Wolf King Eddard said, "You were once the lover of Bittersteel Aegor Rivers. The songs say that Aegor Rivers and Bloodraven Brynden Rivers pursued you bitterly."

"Now that Aegor Rivers is resurrected, will he lead the army of the undead to attack the Gods Eye directly?"

The Wood Dancer said, "If Bittersteel has his own will, he would of course attack the Gods Eye and the Isle of Faces, then run to the Red Waste to resurrect the brother he loved his whole life, Daemon Blackfyre. As a bastard of House Bracken, he would lead the army of the undead to attack Raventree Hall of House Blackwood."

"He might even run Beyond the Wall to fight his arch-rival Bloodraven Brynden. He might even go to Dragonstone to urinate on the graves of the Targaryens he hates—Aegon the Unworthy, Daeron the Good, Aerys I, Maekar I, and others—and curse them. These are all things Bittersteel might do."

"However, the current Bittersteel, like Prince Rhaegar and Robert the Death Storm, is nothing more than a Death Knight, a puppet of the Great Other. Unless the Great Other's curse is lifted, these Death Knights cannot possess their own will."

Eddard said, "Now Daenerys is allied with me. Daenerys's army and the Stark Army are stationed at Harrenhal. I estimate the enemy will attack Harrenhal soon. At that time, the Isle of Faces might also be attacked. How about I send some giant eagles and griffins to protect the Isle of Faces?"

The Wood Dancer shook her head.

"No need, Eddard. Guard Harrenhal well. The Isle of Faces is a sacred place of the Old Gods and has the protection of the Green Men. We can protect ourselves."

"Remember, as long as Harrenhal is in human hands, the Isle of Faces is very safe. Once Harrenhal falls, many living beings in the Riverlands will turn into the undead, and the Isle of Faces might also fall under the attack of the undead."

Daenerys and the Wolf King Eddard stood on the walls of Harrenhal, watching the craftsmen repair the towers and catapults. Brienne of Tarth, the Knight of Flowers Loras, Ser Jorah, and Ser Barristan stood together, guarding Daenerys's side.

The big woman Brienne had a face full of freckles and buck teeth, and her appearance was ugly, yet she possessed a pair of eyes as clear as sapphires. Daenerys soon grew to like Brienne.

There was also the handsome and dashing Knight of Flowers Loras. Daenerys knew that House Tyrell had fought for the Targaryens against the Usurper until the very last moment, so Daenerys naturally felt affection for Ser Loras.

However, what Daenerys liked most was Ser Barristan, her grandfather's knight. He told Daenerys some stories about King Aerys and Prince Rhaegar.

Sansa and Arya became Daenerys's friends in a short time. Daenerys was accustomed to the company of the little scribe Missandei and the maids Irri and Jhiqui. Having two little sisters to accompany her made Daenerys very happy.

The magic dragon Drogon, the flying wolf, the eagle eye, the koi, Viserion, and Rhaegal circled in the sky together.

When in Meereen, although Daenerys could ride the magic dragon Drogon, she could not control the magic dragon. Sometimes, the magic dragon would go hunting in the wild, using dragonfire to kill flocks of sheep; wild boars and cows were minor matters, and sometimes the magic dragon would even attack humans.

Drogon once burned a six-year-old girl to death, which caused the residents of Slaver's Bay to fear the magic dragon. To protect her subjects, Daenerys had to lock the magic dragons in the pyramid dungeons to feed them for a period of time. It was not until Daenerys left Meereen that the magic dragons regained their freedom.

Now, because the Wolf King Eddard was a skinchanger, he could easily control every magic dragon. Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion were as obedient in front of the Wolf King Eddard as the flying wolf, the koi, and the eagle eye.

Daenerys stood at Harrenhal, overlooking the vast Riverlands. This castle was practically built for magic dragons. The magic dragons could soar over the Gods Eye or go to the Trident to catch fish. When tired, they would hang upside down from the towers of Harrenhal to sleep; sometimes they would sleep in the Godswood, and sometimes on the walls.

Under the control of the Wolf King Eddard, the magic dragons lived in harmony with humans. Everyone in Harrenhal—whether it was the Golden Company, the Brotherhood Without Banners, the Unsullied, or the Beast-Face Army following Daenerys, or the Winter Wolves of the North and the Three Rivers Army of the Riverlands, or the Vale Falcon Army following the Wolf King Eddard—was full of pride for the magic dragons.

Daenerys and the Wolf King Eddard walked onto the artillery platform, and Daenerys stroked the cannon.

"The power of the cannons is astonishing. I heard that last time, it was precisely by relying on the cannons and the magic dragons that you repelled the frost dragons Vermithor and Dreamfyre."

The Wolf King Eddard said, "At that time, the frost dragons had never seen cannons, and we caught them off guard. This time, the frost dragons have returned, and they must have made full preparations."

Daenerys was somewhat worried, "Yes, the necromancer could create new frost dragons at any time; King's Landing has plenty of dragon remains."

"Some of my subjects have followed me since the Red Waste, and most from Slaver's Bay. I broke their chains and made them free men, but I never expected to lead them into a war against the undead."

"They need to face frost dragons and the army of the undead."

If a magic dragon were killed by the undead, it might be resurrected on the spot by the necromancer into a frost dragon. However, Eddard felt there was no need to tell Daenerys this; Daenerys's husband and two brothers had all become Death Knights, and she was already terrified enough.

Eddard decided to share a piece of good news with Daenerys.

"I have already written to Winterfell, asking Prince Rhaegar's son, your nephew Jon Snow, to head south to Harrenhal to meet you."

Daenerys was both surprised and delighted, "Does Jon know his identity?"

Eddard said, "He doesn't. You can tell him yourself. Perhaps Jon will even get to see his biological father, Rhaegar."

Three days later at night, the temperature plummeted, and cold winds blew. Even the eagles, falcons, and owls of the Eagle King McCain shivered and hid inside the walls, unable to go out to scout.

Fortunately, Eddard, who controlled the power of elements, smelled the cold and the aura of death outside the city. The frost dragons had come. The Wolf King Eddard immediately controlled the magic dragons to fly into the sky to engage them.

The Hound Sandor and the Lightning Lord blew their horns, and the Red Priest Thoros chanted spells. The longswords of every soldier on the walls ignited, illuminating the night sky.

The soldiers on the artillery platform began to adjust the positions of the cannons, and the ballistae and catapults also began to hold their breath in anticipation.

Daenerys rode on Drogon's back, and the Wolf King Eddard chose the magic dragon Rhaegal as his mount this time.

Although the magic dragon Rhaegal's size was not as large as Drogon's, it was larger than Eddard's magic dragons—the flying wolf, the koi, and the eagle eye.

The Wolf King Eddard said, "The enemy is about to arrive. They may have frost dragons, Death Knights, or other strange monsters, but our magic dragons and cannons will help us win the final victory!"

The necromancer Ogbeta, riding the frost dragon Meraxes, kept climbing upward, avoiding the range of the cannons and ballistae. Wolf King Eddard possessed eyes like an eagle and formidable night vision; he saw Meraxes high in the sky and the necromancer on its back.

Wolf King Eddard told Daenerys, who was at his side, "The necromancer wants to dive down from high altitude. Back then, Aegon the Conqueror, riding Balerion the Black Dread, did exactly this; I must stop him."

Daenerys stroked Drogon beneath her.

"The frost dragon Meraxes is far larger than our magic dragons. If you ride Rhaegar, you certainly won't be a match for Meraxes. I will ride Drogon and go with you."

Wolf King Eddard said, "No, Daenerys, you must stay here to defend. The necromancer Ogbeta surely still has other frost dragons ambushed in the darkness; don't forget, there are also the Death Knights."

Daenerys said worriedly, "But how could one magic dragon be a match for Meraxes? That was Queen Rhaenys's mount during the War of Conquest!"

Wolf King Eddard blew a whistle, and a group of giant eagles circled around Eddard.

"In the high sky, the agility of the giant eagles can help me and the magic dragon defeat Meraxes."

Subsequently, Wolf King Eddard rode the magic dragon Rhaegar and, together with the giant eagles, charged into the night sky.

Sure enough, when Wolf King Eddard rode the magic dragon, ascended to high altitude, and disappeared behind the clouds, two more frost dragons appeared in the air.

Sir Barristan on the city wall issued orders.

"Cannons ready, aim at the frost dragons!"

Tyrion urged, "Ballistae ready!"

Many cannons began to roar, shells were fired, and the ballistae began to shoot; some shells and long arrows hit the frost dragons Dragon of Bronze and Dreamfyre.

However, the frost dragons Dragon of Bronze and Dreamfyre let out a roar and spewed ice over ten meters high; the thick ice instantly froze the cannons, ballistae, and catapults on the east wall, and many soldiers let out screams as their blood froze, dying instantly.

If Bronn hadn't grabbed Tyrion, Tyrion would have almost been hit by the ice as well.

What was worse, the cannons were hit by the ice, and much of the gunpowder was instantly rendered useless.

The undead under the city wall began to climb up along the frozen wall.

At this moment, Daenerys rode the magic dragon Drogon, shrouded the sky, and spewed dragonfire; the ice melted instantly, and the wights bathed in dragonfire, screaming as they died.

The frost dragons Dragon of Bronze and Dreamfyre began to besiege Daenerys on Drogon's back, and at this time, the magic dragon Viserion rushed out to join the battle.

High in the sky, Eddard used mind control on the magic dragons Wolf, Eagle Eye, and Koi, circling to all sides of the frost dragons, waiting for an opportunity to attack.

Swarms of giant bats burst out from the darkness, their black wings covered in wights; the giant bats shook off the wights as if shaking off lice, and they fell onto the city walls, courtyards, and towers.

Brienne, the Knight of Flowers, Barristan, the Hound, the Lightning Lord, Thoros of Myr, Stout Pig, Grey Worm, Ser Jorah, Daario Naharis, and others brandished their burning swords and fought with the wights; a torrent of steel submerged every city wall.

Giant Eagle Prince Michu and Giant Eagle Princess Bessa, leading the Giant Eagle Legion, fought with the giant bats in the air alongside the griffins.

Inside the city walls, Bear King Byars and Varamyr manipulated bears to fight the wights; Tigris rode on a saber-toothed tiger, biting through a blue-eyed wight, and Giant King Mag brandished a warhammer, smashing every wight that got close.

Shouts, cries, and screams echoed in every corner of Harrenhal.

Death Knight Horse King Drogo, Viserys, Rhaegar Targaryen, Bittersteel, the fierce Maris, Blackheart Myles Toyne, and others rode giant bats and landed in the castle.

Daenerys saw Rhaegar Targaryen for the first time and could not help but feel her heart race. Inhuman beauty, the embodiment of perfection.

Rhaegar Targaryen plucked his silver harp, and the sound of death echoed on the city walls; even Daenerys could not help but be mesmerized.

Those soldiers who had been frozen to death by the ice, under the music, instantly turned into blue-eyed wights and began to attack the human defenders.

Daenerys was secretly shocked; she had not expected that the first time she heard Rhaegar's music, it would be a curse.

Bittersteel landed in the Godswood, which happened to be the camp of the Golden Company.

"I am the founder of the Golden Company, Bittersteel Aegor Rivers; you bastards must all listen to me!"

Following behind Bittersteel were the second commander of the Golden Company, the fierce Maris, and the third commander, Blackheart Myles Toyne.

Especially Myles Toyne, who had only passed away four years ago; now resurrected, many soldiers of the Golden Company recognized Myles Toyne.

Myles Toyne said, "Brothers, lay down your weapons and fight for the Cold God!"

As soon as the members of the Golden Company saw their old commander, their morale collapsed, and many Golden Company mercenaries were killed by the Death Knights and wights.

Jon Connington roared, "They are all dead men, puppets! Kill them, and only then can your commander rest in peace!"

The Golden Company then regrouped, and the Unsullied infantry on the side arrived.

Under the gaze of the Weirwood Heart Tree, the Death Knights could not resurrect the dead, and the magic dragon Wolf began to use dragonfire to attack Bittersteel, Maris, and Myles Toyne; these three Death Knights had no choice but to retreat into the courtyard.

Wolf King Eddard rode the magic dragon Rhaegar and confronted the necromancer Ogbeta on the back of Meraxes in the high sky.

The surrounding giant eagles constantly attacked Meraxes. Because Wolf King Eddard employed mind control, the coordination of the giant eagles and magic dragons' attacks was perfect. Meraxes was huge but not agile enough; under the siege of the giant eagles and magic dragons, it gradually became outmatched, and Ogbeta could only ride Meraxes and flee into the night.

After Meraxes retreated, Wolf King Eddard immediately dived to the sky above Harrenhal, and with the magic dragons, giant eagles, and griffins, swept away the wights in the castle. The Death Knights fled in panic under the dragonfire, mounting giant bats to escape.
