Chapter 1: Successful Awakening! System Activated!

"I don't know if we can awaken the Beast Tamer talent!"

"If I can awaken the Beast Tamer talent, I can move my family into the city—living outside the city is far too dangerous!"

Su Yang's companion Zhou Dahai continued: "I've dreamed of becoming a Beast Tamer. What about you, Su Yang?"

Su Yang nodded: "Of course I want to too!"

Su Yang was a transmigrator; he had spent over a decade studying hard, barely made it through high school, and finally passed the entrance exam for his dream university—only to wake up one day and mysteriously transmigrate into this World of Fierce Beasts!

Three hundred years ago, this world was like Earth, with humans possessing a thriving technological civilization and standing at the top of the food chain.

But then a global catastrophe occurred: Qi revived, plants and animals transformed into Fierce Beasts, and the Fierce Beasts began slaughtering humans—human firearms were nearly useless against them, and nuclear bombs only made them mutate stronger!

Countless cities fell, countless humans were devoured by Fierce Beasts, and humanity plunged into an unprecedented crisis!

It was at this moment that the Beast Tamer profession emerged out of nowhere!

Any human who could awaken the Beast Tamer talent could form a pact with a Fierce Beast, harnessing its power or commanding it in battle!

After the Beast Tamers appeared, humanity barely stabilized its position, relying on surviving technology and the power of Beast Tamers to build base cities, allowing humanity to continue reproducing and surviving.

Beast Tamers held high status in human society, but not everyone could become one.

To become a Beast Tamer, one needed talent.

Each year, the Federation gathers all thirteen-year-old boys for an Awakening Ceremony; those who pass and successfully awaken the Beast Tamer talent are granted free admission to elite high schools in their local city.

As long as they pass the exams and graduate, their entire family can move into a safe base city.

Those who fail to awaken the Beast Tamer talent must pay tuition to attend ordinary high schools and study other subjects.

"The Awakening Ceremony begins. You each have only one chance. No noise. Close your eyes and focus deeply!"

An old Beast Tamer stood on the central platform with a silver-white, half-human-tall fox. The moment he finished speaking, the previously noisy hall fell silent—all the boys closed their eyes and focused intently.

This was a chance to change one's fate—no one dared to take it lightly.

The silver-white fox pet stood up, gazing at the thirteen-year-old boys; its yellow eyes gradually turned silver-white, and an invisible silver storm swept across the entire hall!

Su Yang closed his eyes, seeing only darkness—then a streak of silver light flashed before him.

This was the sign of awakening!

He had successfully awakened the Beast Tamer talent!

Now that he had awakened the Beast Tamer talent, after he graduated, he could bring his mother and younger sister to live safely inside Qixing City!

"Ding~ Detected that the host has awakened the Beast Tamer talent. Pet Raising System activated…"

Hearing this voice, Su Yang became even more excited!

System!

There really was a System!

Of course—as a transmigrator, a System was a must-have.

"Open your eyes! Those with silver-white light around you have awakened the talent!" The old Beast Tamer smiled approvingly. "Good, good. This is the final batch—you one hundred boys, thirteen of you awakened. Though all you have are ordinary talents, it's already quite good!"

Su Yang opened his eyes and found himself bathed in a faint silver-white glow.

He glanced at Zhou Dahai beside him—Zhou Dahai was also glowing with white light; he had awakened too, which made Su Yang very happy!

Zhou Dahai was Su Yang's neighbor; they both lived in Baiyi Town.

Zhou Dahai's parents often helped Su Yang's family, and the two households were very close.

Those without silver-white light could only look on with envy and resentment.

Some emotionally fragile boys burst into tears—they knew they had missed the most important chance to change their fate!

This world was just that cruel!

Su Yang glanced at the old Beast Tamer conducting the ceremony, and at the old Beast Tamer's fox pet.

Soon, something astonishing happened…

He could see the data panel of that fox pet!

【Name】: Silver-Eyed Fox

【Growth Potential】: Bronze High-Grade

【Strength Level】: Bronze Mid-Grade

【Attributes】: Beast, Spirit

【Loyalty】: 83

【Skills】:

1. Spirit Piercing; 2. Illusory Eye; 3. Hypnosis.

As Su Yang observed the Silver-Eyed Fox's stats, a tall, thin middle-aged soldier shouted toward them: "Boys who awakened the Beast Tamer talent—follow me! Others who did not awaken, leave the hall within two minutes!"

Thirteen boys followed the soldier out of the hall, walked over fifty meters, and entered a large warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, countless Fierce Beast eggs of all sizes were arranged in rows.

"I'm Chen. You can call me Instructor Chen. First, congratulations on your successful awakening—but you are not yet true Beast Tamers!" Instructor Chen said. "The first step to becoming a true Beast Tamer is to form a pact with your first契约兽."

"The Fierce Beast eggs in this warehouse are all those collected by Qixing City over the years. Choose one you like and form a pact with it," Instructor Chen continued. "Some of these eggs have already been identified; others, we cannot determine which Fierce Beast laid them. The identified eggs may have ordinary talent and potential, but they are sufficient for your current stage…"

"Of course, if you wish to gamble and choose one of the unidentified eggs, I won't stop you—but you must be cautious and take full responsibility for your decision!"

A well-dressed, handsome boy with an arrogant expression asked: "Instructor Chen, my family has already prepared a Fierce Beast egg for me?"

Instructor Chen nodded: "Then you may return home to form your pact. Those without such resources should choose from the warehouse."

The boy's words stirred envy among the other boys.

Su Yang knew this was what they called the privileged class.

Those with wealth and power would surely prepare stronger, purer-blooded Fierce Beast eggs for their children, giving them a head start!

As for commoners like us, we can only rely on Qixing City's aid to form pacts with ordinary pets.

"The method of signing the contract is simple: you have already awakened your Beast Tamer talent and possess a trace of soul power. All you need to do is smear your blood onto the ferocious beast egg, place your hand on it, and use your will to tell it that you wish to form a contract—with that, you will succeed!"

"You are the last group today. Try to complete this within half an hour. After signing your contract beast, gather at the warehouse entrance—I'll assign you to Dormitory One!"

Su Yang's gaze swept across the warehouse, filled densely with ferocious beast eggs, when suddenly a system notification echoed in his ears:

"Ding~ System activated!"

"Ding~ Newcomer bonus quest: Find the ferocious beast egg with the highest comprehensive talent among the 13,677 eggs in Qixing City's warehouse, and sign a contract with it!"

"Quest success: Reward—One Mythic-tier beast talent!"

"Beast talent tiers: Common, Rare, Legendary, Mythic!"

Seeing this quest, Su Yang instantly held his breath.

Sure enough, it was a newcomer bonus quest—this reward was practically free!
