Chapter 1126: The Seniority Issue! Proposing Dean!

"General Mo, please calm down a bit. Everyone is just discussing Su Yang's reward," Marshal Xu hurriedly said. "Tian Lao, you too. You have to consider the temperament of young people. Su Yang is no ordinary person. Any young man with a bit of pride wouldn't like the way you're speaking!"

"Fine!" Facing Marshal Xu and Mo Yunjian, Tian Lao could only helplessly back down. "General Mo's words do make sense. My tone may have been a bit off, but I still feel Su Yang is too young and needs a period of tempering. I'm not targeting him alone—I'm targeting all young people…"

Tian Lao's words made the other high-ranking officials laugh along.

Strictly speaking, Tian Lao's words made sense.

Young people lack experience, are prone to impulsiveness, don't act steadily enough, and don't think comprehensively enough.

The entire Huaxia Federation has always prioritized stability.

The Federation's high command prefers to send promising young people down to various regions for important posts, slowly tempering their will, strengthening their strength, and cultivating their abilities. Then, by observing their performance, they gradually promote them to important positions in the General Military Headquarters.

If an immature young person is rashly handed significant power, they may very well be corrupted by it, or lose their drive for progress.

This counts as the Federation's long-standing tradition!

Even before the Great Catastrophe, the Federation operated the same way!

When Marshal Xu transferred Su Yang from the Southwest Military Department to the Southeast Military Department, he also had the intention of tempering Su Yang.

The Federation's high command truly values Su Yang greatly.

But none of them expected Su Yang's strength and battle achievements to grow so fast!

He's almost caught up to them!

Among them, some truly had prepared for the day when geniuses like Su Yang would take over!

But not now!

"General Shi, what do you say?"

"I think—" Shi Fanmeng thought for a moment and said, "I think we should still give Su Yang the corresponding reward. If we really don't promote him, it seems a bit… deliberate. Deliberately suppressing him will only make him resent us!"

Seeing everyone deep in thought, Shi Fanmeng continued: "Su Yang is now the Federation's number one powerhouse. He's only eighteen. Before the age of fifty is the golden period for a Beast Tamer's strength growth. His future achievements may well surpass just Imperial-level Beast Tamer!"

"I'm not petty either. Su Yang does lack tempering… How about we table this for later? The military merits haven't all been tallied yet anyway. We'll definitely have to issue rewards for the entire army together!" Tian Lao suddenly said. "This can also give us some time to go back and think it through!"

Many matters among the high command cannot be completely resolved in a single meeting—they need to be discussed and refined step by step.

Especially for sudden incidents like this, they had no idea at all.

"Fine!" Marshal Xu also knew what these old fellows were thinking, so he said, "We're not in a rush to decide anyway. Everyone go back and think carefully about how best to reward Su Yang. Ideally, a solution that satisfies everyone—pleases Su Yang while you can accept it. That Beast Emperor is dead anyway. Today we should be happy!"

The high-ranking officials who had opposed Su Yang also broke into smiles.

Slaying a Beast Emperor at such a small cost!

This was indeed worth celebrating!

"Oh right, there's one more thing I'd like to propose!" Shi Fanmeng suddenly said. "I think it's better to bring it up with you first!"

A high-ranking official asked: "General Shi, what else is it?"

Shi Fanmeng's influence among the high command was still very strong.

As the Federation's number one healer, Shi Fanmeng had accumulated rich connections over the years!

"Su Yang has now cultivated a healing-type pet beast with healing abilities stronger than Forest Sheep Spirit. I propose that Su Yang take on an important position at the First Military Hospital!"

"What? Stronger than General Shi's Forest Sheep Spirit?"

"Correct!" Shi Fanmeng nodded. "And when that pet beast of his treats patients, it doesn't burden itself—it only consumes the pet beast's energy. Even General Mo was healed by him!"

This news once again brought tremendous shock to the Federation's high command.

If Su Yang truly reached the level Shi Fanmeng described, then his importance to the Federation would no longer be just that of an Imperial-level Beast Tamer!

Even they had to carefully consider Su Yang's attitude toward them…

There are two kinds of people in the world one must never offend—one is a cook, the other is a doctor!

Of course, this saying isn't entirely accurate.

These old generals of Menzhe Gang had eaten raw meat before, so of course they didn't care about any cook.

But doctors—or rather, excellent healers—they absolutely had to be on good terms with.

These days, with ferocious beasts running rampant, even they often had to go to the front lines to fight the beasts.

Even if they didn't consider themselves, they had to consider their subordinates and their families, right?

"I think Su Yang needs to hold an important position at the First Military Hospital. I'm inclined to give up my Honorary Dean position to him!"

As for Yaoguang's healing ability, Shi Fanmeng was thoroughly convinced.

Moreover, Shi Fanmeng had a premonition that Yaoguang would very likely advance to Imperial-level under Su Yang's cultivation!

After all, Su Yang possessed that terrifyingly exaggerated talent constitution!

This was already an open secret!

Hearing Shi Fanmeng's words, the Federation high command fell silent once more.

The position of Honorary Dean of the Federation's First Military Hospital was no trivial matter.

The fact that Shi Fanmeng was willing to give it up proved her affirmation of Su Yang's healing ability!

"We'll think it over carefully!" Marshal Xu said.

"Oh right, there's one thing I also need to mention!" Mo Yunjian suddenly spoke up again. "General Shi is no longer really fit to treat patients. The truth is, she's always been treating patients by consuming her own life force—she just didn't tell us… If Su Yang hadn't told us, we'd all still be kept in the dark."

Mo Yunjian was also a straightforward person. Since everyone was here today, he simply laid it out as well.

"What?"

"Consuming life force?"

Didn't you say it would just increase the burden on the body, and that rest would fix it?

"…"

Marshal Xu and the Federation high command were thoroughly moved!

Treating patients by consuming one's own life force?

Why didn't you say so before?

Marshal Xu frowned even more deeply and asked, "General Shi, didn't you say it would only drain stamina?"

"Hard to say. Even if I said so, could I really refuse to treat them?"

Hearing Shi Fanmeng's words, everyone fell silent!

That truly was impossible!

Even knowing full well that acting would drain Shi Fanmeng's vitality, sometimes they had no choice but to let it be drained!

Even if it pained them inside!

But reality was just that cruel.

Someone always had to pay the price!

Even they were no exception!

"It's only a little vitality. I'm a King-tier Beast Tamer; I won't miss that bit of lifespan." Shi Fanmeng said with a smile, "Besides, it's not as exaggerated as General Mo made it sound. I only need to expend vitality when I run into patients with severe injuries!"
