Chapter 1389

"Release the face-spider!"

Promises made must always be kept.

As long as conditions allow, Su Yang will never break his word.

His reputation is quite good.

Jiazi's eyes lit up in delight: "General Su has an opening?"

She didn't actually understand what an opening meant, only that it was a limitation on General Su's ability.

No beast-tamer doesn't wish to become stronger.

It's like no one ever complains about having too much money.

You can live without money.

But without strength, you might truly die!

After leaving the island nation, Jiazi had little left to pursue.

"Got it!"

A flash of white light, and the face-spider appeared, beautiful as crystal.

Long unseen, Jin Lin the mermaid's strength had nearly reached Sovereign-Rank, yet the face-spider's strength remained unchanged.

This was normal.

Many ferocious beasts take years to rise even one minor rank.

Here with Su Yang, it might take only an hour.

The crystal spider, upon seeing Su Yang, whispered: "General Su!"

Now, it bore no trace of its former glory—leading hundreds of thousands of ferocious beasts to storm cities and seize strongholds—and instead looked frail and pitiful.

Su Yang stood up, stretched, and said: "Come with me into the room!"

"Yes!"

Inside the room, the face-spider quickly signed a forced contract with Su Yang.

As for affection, that was never an issue!

Most intelligent ferocious beasts cannot resist the temptation of bloodline evolution!

The face-spider's loyalty to Jiazi had always been low—it had chosen to submit only because of Su Yang's allure.

The face-spider asked softly: "Is it done?"

"It's done!"

"But why do I feel nothing?"

"Don't rush!" Su Yang reached out and placed his hand on the face-spider's forehead. "Close your eyes and focus."

For a new pet beast, the proper ritual to boost affection must still be observed.

"Ding~ Congratulations, host! You've used a Forced Contract Scroll and bonded the face-spider as your pet!"

"Ding~ Task reward: Awarded face-spider Mythic-tier talent—Darkness Demon Heart!"

"Ding~ Your pet face-spider gains Mythic-tier talent; growth potential rises from Emperor-Rank Top-Grade to Sovereign-Rank Mid-Grade!"

Darkness Demon Heart (Mythic): Greatly enhances the pet's Dark-attribute skill strength, greatly reduces its Dark-attribute skill cost, greatly increases its Dark-attribute energy recovery; in darkness, the pet's strength is greatly amplified!

Su Yang opened his eyes and saw the face-spider's body trembling slightly.

Its eyelashes were also shaking.

It seemed eager to open its eyes, yet feared disobeying Su Yang's order.

"Don't open your eyes—keep feeling!"

"Ding~ Your pet may gain two Mythic-tier resistance skills; host, please choose!"

Su Yang carefully reviewed the face-spider's talent panel and quickly made his selection!

"Ding~ Your pet face-spider gains Mythic-tier talent—Fire Resistance!"

"Ding~ Your pet face-spider gains Mythic-tier talent—Wind Attribute Resistance!"

"Ding~ Your pet face-spider gains Mythic-tier talent; growth potential rises from Sovereign-Rank Mid-Grade to Sovereign-Rank High-Grade!"

Enhancing Fire Resistance was wise, since Fire-attribute ferocious beasts were common and their attacks were powerful.

They could easily counter the face-spider's venom and silk.

For the face-spider, this was extremely cost-effective!

Enhancing Wind Attribute Resistance followed the same logic.

Su Yang looked again at the face-spider's attribute panel:

Finally, the face-spider opened its eyes.

Its eyes were filled with excitement.

Su Yang added three mythic-level talents to it at once, raising its growth potential from Emperor-Rank Top-Grade to Sovereign-Rank High-Grade—nearly a complete transformation; if she didn't feel it, that would be strange indeed!

"Master!"

Through the bond, Su Yang could sense that the face-spider's cry of "Master" came from the heart.

"You now possess Sovereign-Rank High-Grade growth potential. I've also enhanced your Dark attribute talent and your resistance to Fire and Wind skills!" Su Yang patted the face-spider on the shoulder. "Stay with me—becoming a Divine Beast won't be a problem. Jin Lin the Golden Scale Mermaid has been with me only a short while, yet she already has Divine-Level growth potential and her strength is nearing Sovereign-Rank. Work hard—I won't let you down!"

"Yes, Master!"

The face-spider replied with utmost reverence.

High-grade ferocious beasts are just like humans.

If you pay well enough, your employees will treat you like a god and worship you!

"Go back!" Su Yang said, thoroughly satisfied as the face-spider's loyalty surged past ninety. "From now on, call me General Su. Don't reveal our relationship. Serve Sovereign Jiazi well, obey her orders—she's also under me!"

"Yes!"

As soon as the face-spider stepped out of the room with Su Yang, it instantly drew the attention of the two women.

They both stared at the face-spider, clearly seeing the excitement on its face.

The two women immediately understood what kind of benefit the face-spider had gained.

Xia Na wore an expression of envy.

In this light, she realized how far behind she had fallen.

Sovereign Jiazi already had two pet beasts that General Su had helped cultivate.

She also had a Nine-Tailed Demon Fox.

And what about her?

Only a constantly nagging Crow of Misfortune!

Sovereign Jiazi asked softly, "Is it ready?"

"It's ready. Train the face-spider well from now on!"

"Yes, General Su!"

Sovereign Jiazi looked at the face-spider and extended her arm. "Face-spider, from now on, we'll fight side by side!"

"Mm!"

The face-spider reached out and gripped Sovereign Jiazi's hand.

Its loyalty to Sovereign Jiazi was pitifully low—entirely out of respect for Su Yang.

Having settled the face-spider's affairs, Su Yang turned his thoughts to the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly.

After the last battle with the Fire Phoenix Legion, the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly had not appeared again.

Su Yang tried to contact it, summoning it for battle, but it kept replying… it wasn't ready yet!

Three days have nearly passed—should it be ready by now?
