Chapter 1497: Su Yang and the Phoenix

Even if it exhausted its energy, its mission and Sovereign Jiazi's would not fail.

To make Su Yang see its strength, it must unleash its true power!

Su Yang's pet beast on his hand was fine—it often stayed by Su Yang's side and wasn't afraid of being ignored.

But the pet beasts Su Yang left beside Liu Mengyun, Sovereign Jiazi, and Xia Na all desperately wanted Su Yang's attention.

Only by gaining Su Yang's attention would Su Yang heavily cultivate them.

Jin Lin the mermaid took a deep breath, drawing countless water mists into her lips.

Within a hundred li, water energy violently surged; under the boost of her Divine-Rank talent, Water Element Heart, especially in the ocean, the energy she could control was amplified countless times.

On the sea surface, the surrounding waves suddenly rose dozens of times higher!

Towering tidal waves crashed one after another toward the Flame Element Lord, who had just emerged from the spatial rift.

"Scorching Domain!"

The Flame Element Lord roared.

The first massive wave, under the crimson glow, was instantly evaporated.

But immediately, another wave came crashing down.

The second wave, the third wave… the seventh wave shattered the Flame Element Lord's Scorching Domain; the eighth wave slammed the Flame Element Lord straight into the ocean.

As soon as the Flame Element Lord fell into the sea, the ocean within ten li evaporated completely.

Jin Lin the mermaid pressed the advantage, sending over a dozen water spouts surging from the ocean to bind the Flame Element Lord.

The Flame Element Lord possessed an S-Rank heat talent; the moment the thirteen water spouts trapped it, its body began rapidly shrinking—but Jin Lin the mermaid had already prepared: the lower halves of the water spouts remained in the ocean, continuously replenishing water, temporarily leaving the Flame Element Lord in agony.

Just then, the ninth and tenth waves arrived.

When the eleventh wave struck the Flame Element Lord, its flames were extinguished.

It fully transformed into a massive humanoid stone, shattered into pieces by the crashing waves.

"Ding~ Your pet Jin Lin the mermaid has leveled up to Sovereign-Rank Mid-Grade!"

"Ding~ Your pet Jin Lin the mermaid has learned the skill Water Dragon's Chant!"

A satisfied smile curled on Su Yang's lips.

Xiao Yu's performance pleased him greatly.

That Flame Element Lord was indeed quite excellent, possessing three S-Rank talents and ranking as a top-tier Sovereign-Rank beast.

Yet even so, Xiao Yu disposed of it with complete ease.

"Phoenix, how are my subordinates?"

"She just had terrain advantage," Phoenix retorted.

"Heh!"

Two full levels behind, and still blaming Jin Lin the mermaid for having terrain advantage?

But Su Yang had no intention of arguing with Phoenix.

He believed Phoenix knew perfectly well who had won.

He merely wanted to deflate Phoenix's arrogance, not fully anger her.

"My subordinate killed that Flame Element Lord—aren't you upset?"

"Why be upset? Worthless creatures have no right to survive!"

"Good!" Su Yang smiled and asked, "But why were the beasts coming through your side so strong this time?"

"Perhaps they sensed my entry into this world."

"Looking for you?"

Phoenix nodded: "Probably."

"Won't you stop them?" Su Yang prodded. "If more keep entering this world, my subordinates might wipe them all out."

"No need—I also want to see how far that mermaid can go!"

"Do as you like—as long as you don't mind losing them, I don't care!"

Inside, Su Yang was genuinely pleased—Phoenix had fallen into his trap.

He knew that, after the provocation, the proud Phoenix would likely want to compete with him—to see whose subordinates were stronger!

After all, she seemed to care little about her subordinates' survival.

Su Yang didn't care who won or lost; as long as Sovereign Jiazi and the others gained from the battle, that was enough.

Phoenix's subordinates likely had many high-rank beasts—plenty to help Sovereign Jiazi and the others advance dramatically!

On the battlefield, seeing the Flame Element Lord defeated, Sovereign Jiazi exhaled in relief.

Discovering Jin Lin the mermaid had leveled up, she relaxed even further.

Her main combat pets were only three: Jin Lin the mermaid, the Face-Spider, and the Nine-Tailed Fox. The Nine-Tailed Fox had Divine-Rank potential, but it had never earned Su Yang's favor and remained stuck at King-Rank peak.

The Face-Spider had yet to mature and was only Imperial-Rank.

She could rely on only Jin Lin the mermaid.

If Jin Lin the mermaid couldn't defeat that Flame Element Lord, her mission would fail.

Now that Jin Lin the mermaid had leveled up, this was excellent news for her.

Because she didn't know what other powerful beasts might emerge from this spatial rift!

Sovereign Jiazi was somewhat like Liu Mengyun—a fiercely competitive woman.

She didn't want to fail. She didn't want Su Yang to look down on her.

"Xiao Yu, conserve your strength—we might be in for a long fight!"

"Sovereign Jiazi, General Su has arrived!"

"Arrived?"

Jiazi turned her head and saw Su Yang standing in midair in the distance, along with the Phoenix.

Her face lit up with joy; she was about to greet Su Yang, when his voice came to her ear: "Keep fighting—take this chance to strengthen your power!"

"Yes, General Su!"

Thus, Su Yang and the Phoenix stood quietly to one side, watching Jiazi fight.

"Ding~ Your Face Spider has leveled up to Emperor-Rank Top-Grade!"

Hearing this prompt, Su Yang turned his gaze to the Face Spider.

After many days apart, the Face Spider was still as beautiful as ever.

Under the glow of firelight, its body shimmered brilliantly.

Its silk drifted like flying fluff, filling the sky; countless flame-element beasts bursting from the spatial rifts were caught in the webs.

The Face Spider danced gracefully on its eight legs, leaping back and forth, slicing the trapped beasts into pieces.

Flame-element beasts naturally resist the Face Spider's poison skills and silk—but Su Yang had anticipated this, granting it Mythic-level Flame Resistance and the Mythic talent Dark Heart.

Ordinary flames could not harm it.

Even its silk could not be burned!

The Phoenix also noticed the Face Spider; among Jiazi's summoned beasts, only the Jin Lin Mermaid and the Face Spider were the strongest.

"That beast, looking like it's made entirely of crystal… what is it?"

"Face Spider!"

"Your Face Spiders are very different from ours!"

"Weaker than yours?"

"No—stronger… and even more beautiful!"

The Phoenix was not boasting here.

Su Yang smiled: "Maybe our soil and water are better!"

"Really?"

"Of course not!" Seeing the Phoenix slightly annoyed, Su Yang explained, "This Face Spider is a mutated Beast Emperor!"

"A mutated Beast Emperor? That's truly rare!" The Phoenix nodded, glanced at the spatial rift, and said to Su Yang, "Another Emperor-Rank beast has emerged—more than one!"

"No problem—Jiazi and the others need training. A few strong foes are perfect!"
