Chapter 181

"It's really terrifying!"

He Yingzhuo asked, "Then why is Su Yang fine?"

"Either he's carrying a powerful psychic-type pet beast on him, or he's already Gold-rank!"

"Indeed, he's already Gold-rank—I hadn't had the chance to tell you yet!" Su Yang did not deny Huo Kun's guess, but instead asked, "Captain, that one enemy… is it powerful?"

"When it unleashed its psychic control, I couldn't detect anything amiss at all. Its psychic ability is above mine—it's very likely a Platinum-rank fierce beast!"

"Then why weren't we controlled?"

"Maybe its main target wasn't us!" Huo Kun frowned as he looked toward the sealed window and said, "This is a bit troublesome now. Those three were probably controlled and ran out… It looks like I'll have to go out for a trip!"

Just at that moment, the speaker on the worm train broadcast another message:

"Hello everyone, this is the conductor of Worm Train No. 1056, Platinum-rank Beast Tamer Wang Hong. I am now issuing a temporary conscription order. All Gold-rank Beast Tamers aboard, please assemble at Car No. 1!"

The broadcast played three times.

Neither Huo Kun nor He Yingzhuo hesitated; they headed straight for Car No. 1.

Su Yang thought for a moment, then followed as well.

The conductor of a worm train is generally a field-grade officer, with the authority to conscript all Beast Tamers aboard for combat when passengers are in danger or the train itself is in peril.

Because they stayed in Car No. 3, Huo Kun, He Yingzhuo, and Su Yang were almost the first to arrive.

Soon, ten minutes later, Car No. 1 had already gathered seventeen Gold-rank Beast Tamers.

Adding the ten Gold-rank Beast Tamer guards of Worm Train No. 1056, a total of twenty-seven Gold-rank Beast Tamers were present.

Adding Platinum-rank Beast Tamer Wang Hong, the conductor, they had already gathered roughly the high-end combat power of an entire base city!

"What exactly is going on?"

"I don't know either. I just saw them running out like mad—I didn't even have time to stop them!"

"It must be psychic control!"

"My wife was right at the door and got shoved straight out… When does the worm train open its doors?"

……

Not long after, a burly middle-aged Beast Tamer walked out, dressed in a tight white uniform.

The moment he entered, everyone fell silent.

"Hello everyone, I am Wang Hong!" Wang Hong raised a hand to stop a Gold-rank Beast Tamer who was about to speak. "I'll keep it brief. Something has gone wrong across all of Upper Qingcheng. I sent a signal to the Upper Qingcheng military, and the Upper Qingcheng military did not respond."

The expressions of everyone present turned solemn.

Every person had a very bad guess in their heart!

"You may not be able to see it, but I can see it very clearly!" Wang Hong said with a grave expression. "Upper Qingcheng has been invaded by Illusion Butterflies. Among this swarm of Illusion Butterflies, there is very likely also a Platinum-rank Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly that is skilled in both the psychic and illusion systems!"

Hearing this, even Su Yang's expression turned somewhat grim.

Psychic and illusion-type skills, once unleashed, are silent and traceless, bizarre and unpredictable, impossible to guard against.

Let alone when it's a Platinum-rank fierce beast?

"However, the only good news is that the strongest Platinum-rank Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly very likely hasn't noticed us!" Wang Hong explained. "If it had noticed you, you probably wouldn't be standing here right now!"

If the enemy really was a Platinum-rank Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly, these Gold-rank Beast Tamers of theirs would probably all die without even knowing what hit them.

A Beast Tamer said with an ugly expression: "Then what does the conductor mean by having us assemble here? It can't be that he wants us to go deal with that Platinum-rank Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly, can it?"

"I hope you'll cooperate with me in battle. I must go see whether I can rescue Upper Qingcheng, and I still need to bring those passengers back—this is my duty!"

"Conductor, can you handle that Platinum-rank Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly?"

"I possess a psychic-type pet beast, so I do have some confidence. Outside there are two Gold-rank Illusion Butterflies; I can take them out. The remaining Illusion Butterflies won't affect you much!" Wang Hong continued explaining. "Then I'll go deal with that Seven-Colored Illusion Butterfly. You only need to help me bring the people back… Illusion Butterflies love to feed on brain matter. I'm afraid if I'm too late, those people will be dead!"

Huo Kun and He Yingzhuo both stepped forward, and the other Gold-rank Beast Tamers also stepped forward one after another.

Including Su Yang.

With a temporary conscription, they could not back down.

If they backed down now, the Huaxia Federation would come after them later!
