Chapter 321

Su Yang frowned: "Why?"

"A Star-Rank growth-potential pet beast is not easy to control either!" Liu Mengyun said. "The higher a pet beast's growth potential, the higher its chance of defection. Didn't the Colonel notice that during the Southwest Grand Competition, most of the well-born teenagers used Platinum-Rank potential pet beasts?"

Su Yang remembered what Zhu Xiaoshuang had told him in Jiacheng.

Su Yang had begun to take Liu Mengyun's opinion seriously: "What do you think I should give?"

"I need to know his age and strength!"

"Same age as me, fourteen, probably still a Black-Iron Rank Beast Tamer!"

"My suggestion… a Cloudveil Eagle egg!"

"Explain why!"

"Platinum-Rank pet beasts aren't particularly proud. If you hatch them yourself and treat them well, their chance of defection is low," Liu Mengyun continued. "The Cloudveil Eagle is among the fastest in the Southwest's Platinum-Rank pet beasts, excels in wind techniques, grows quickly, and is extremely practical for both combat and escape!"

Su Yang realized this sounded like pet beast psychology…

"My first pet beast was a Cloudveil Eagle—chosen for me by my father. Any family in the Southwest with means prioritizes it!"

Liu Mengyun's reasoning convinced Su Yang.

"Also give him some wind-element core crystals—his family isn't well-off!"

"I suggest the Colonel give only one Cloudveil Eagle egg!"

"Why?"

"To say it bluntly: a measure of rice nurtures a benefactor, a bushel of rice nurtures an enemy. Giving one Cloudveil Eagle egg is already generous. If you send him a batch of core crystals afterward, he won't need to strive for a while… I don't know your friend's character or self-control, but fourteen-year-old boys generally lack strong self-discipline. Once he becomes dependent on you, your friendship may vanish!" Liu Mengyun stared intently at Su Yang, watching his expression closely. "Once he becomes dependent on you—or grows lazy—he may be ruined by you!"

"I think the Colonel needs to reconsider carefully!"
