Chapter 349

Su Yang raised his hand and pressed down.

These seventeen beast tamer officers gradually fell silent, eager to hear his answer.

Su Yang said solemnly: "Liu Mengyun, after joining our Seventh Squad, you will temporarily serve as my deputy officer!"

"What the hell!"

"Awesome!"

"Female deputy?"

"Female secretary?"

"…"

Many of the younger members of the Seventh Squad couldn't help but curse.

"I know you might be shocked—I was shocked too!" Su Yang shrugged helplessly. "But it was ordered from above; I couldn't refuse."

Su Yang wore the expression of a victim.

This made many Seventh Squad members feel sour inside!

"I think you're taking advantage and acting innocent!"

"Exactly!"

Even Xu Jiutian, Su Yang's closest friend, said: "Su Yang, I really want to punch you!"

"I want to beat him up too!"

"Honestly, I think Su Yang deserves a beating!"

"…"

Su Yang is a man who dares to take responsibility.

Seeing so many wanted to beat him, he said outright: "If you really want to hit me, I'll stand right here—go ahead and hit!"

"Really?"

"Are you serious?"

"We're actually going to hit you?"

A few Seventh Squad beast tamers even rolled up their sleeves, looking eager!

Of course, a few who knew Su Yang's true strength were smirking quietly beside them.

Su Yang nodded seriously: "Of course I'm serious—but don't dirty my uniform!"

"We were just joking!"

"Yeah, we were just kidding!"

"How could we ever dare to hit you!"

"…"

Several squad members who had claimed they'd beat Su Yang now laughed and gave up.

To beat Su Yang—they knew they lacked the strength.

When Su Yang was Gold Rank, he could withstand an entire pack of Rock-Armored Rhinos.

Now that he's Platinum Rank, Menzhe Gang, all Gold Rank beast tamers, aren't that foolish.

Yes, Xu Jiutian, that big-mouth, had already told everyone about Su Yang's strength.

But since Su Yang told Xu Jiutian, he never expected him to keep it secret.

News of the Emergency Corps' expansion also spread through the Seventh Squad.

Su Yang also received word from Liu Mengyun that Wucheng had issued a recruitment order.

The recruitment order had been disseminated to all major cities in the southwest, primarily seeking civilian Gold Rank beast tamers.

Gold Rank beast tamers from all southwest base cities and military units may apply and will be given priority.

Wucheng's recruitment of Gold Rank beast tamers isn't just to fill the newly formed Emergency Corps' Fourteenth Squad—it's also to address the manpower shortages in the other thirteen squads.

At this point, the competition for the positions of commander and deputy commander of the Fourteenth Emergency Squad was no longer a secret.

Currently, the Emergency Corps consists of thirteen squads and one special operations unit.

The members of the special operations unit are mysterious and rarely appear.

Each of them is a true elite of the southwest, said to be composed entirely of Star Radiance-ranked beast tamers with extraordinary talent and battle-hardened experience.

Most of the time, they operate alone or in teams of two or three.

Occasionally, when the Thirteenth Emergency Squad deploys on missions, if Commander Yao or Deputy Commander Ma deem it necessary, they assign available members of the special operations unit to accompany them.

After joining the Seventh Emergency Squad for half a year, Su Yang had participated in one moderately large defense mission but had never yet gone on a mission with the Star Radiance-ranked beast tamers of the special operations unit.

After all, the base cities of the southwest couldn't possibly suffer beast disasters every day!

If they did, the Emergency Corps would have been wiped out long ago.

The day before the competition for the Fourteenth Emergency Squad commander, Zhu Xiaoshuang's deputy officer notified Su Yang that Zhu Xiaoshuang wanted to see him.

As soon as Su Yang entered Commander Zhu's office, he smelled blood.

He immediately became alert, even saluting more precisely than usual!

"Sit!"

"Tomorrow's the trial—do you have confidence?"

"Su Yang, your only disadvantage is your youth. From the perspective of seniority and command experience, most senior officers in the Southwest Military Department don't think highly of you. It was only because General Qin and Commander Yao insisted that you were included in the candidate list. You must work hard!"

"Mm!"

Su Yang nodded heavily.

The positions of commander and deputy commander of an Emergency Squad aren't granted just because you have strength.

He wasn't actually very interested in the Emergency Squad commander position.

What interested him was the space-type ferocious beast egg hidden by the Southwest Military Department.

"I also think you have no issues—you've led several missions with outstanding results, and your teammates all hold you in high regard. Someone as talented as you should be promoted beyond the usual ranks… though every time I think of your age, I feel a bit inferior!" Zhu Xiaoshuang chuckled helplessly.

Su Yang smiled awkwardly along with her.

"Your opponents this time are all battle-hardened veterans of the military, nearly all Platinum High-Grade Beast Tamers; more than half come from our Emergency Squad—they're not easy to handle, so be careful!"

"Are there no Platinum Top-Grade Beast Tamers?"

Zhu Xiaoshuang couldn't help laughing: "Everyone else hopes their competitors are as weak as possible—why do you want your opponents to be stronger?"

"Just curious!"

"Most Platinum Top-Grade Beast Tamers won't choose to become Emergency Squad leaders—they'd rather strive to break through to Star Radiance rank!"
