Chapter 365: Space Distortion

The salary is collected by Su Yang.

But the miscellaneous tasks on hand should naturally be assigned to the deputy officer.

Su Yang's self-positioning is clear: he is responsible for leading combat teams, and occasionally might spare time to train his beast-tamers.

But the internal miscellaneous affairs of the Fourteenth Squad, he didn't want to manage.

He had neither the energy nor the time.

His primary task remained cultivating his beast and enhancing his strength.

Even Ma Wenhong felt the same way.

"Yes, Major!"

Liu Mengyun did not refuse Su Yang's order.

Su Yang greeted Hao Ren: "Captain Hao, I'm leaving the rest to you!"

Hao Ren nodded blankly: "No problem, go attend to your business!"

He had indeed prepared himself for Su Yang to be a hands-off boss, but he hadn't expected Su Yang to be this straightforward.

On the very first day, he just vanished!

After Su Yang left, Hao Ren felt deeply unsettled.

"Captain Hao, the Major is only fifteen years old. You know that for a beast-tamer, from awakening until forty, is their golden period for growth," Liu Mengyun said. "This time is extremely precious. You understand."

"I understand your meaning!" Hao Ren took a deep breath, then smiled at Liu Mengyun. "But at least he left you behind."

Hao Ren quickly came to terms with it.

He had originally planned to shoulder the entire structural work of the Fourteenth Squad alone.

Su Yang had left, but he left Liu Mengyun behind!

Liu Mengyun's abilities were no slouch—she could greatly reduce his workload.

This was a good thing!

While Hao Ren and Liu Mengyun were busy building up the Fourteenth Squad, Su Yang, the hands-off boss, rode his Storm Eagle out of Wucheng.

The Void Wandering Spirit was only Black-Iron High-Grade; its upgrade path was long indeed!

Just as it flew to the edge of Wucheng, Storm Eagle informed Su Yang that a group of Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs were devouring crops nearby.

This surprised Su Yang.

Near Wucheng's safety zone's wasteland, patrols composed of beast-tamers were stationed day and night.

To prevent ferocious beasts from entering the safety zone, destroying farmland, and killing civilians.

Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs, a Silver-level ferocious beast, were temperamental and easily enraged.

If they entered the safety zone, it would be extremely dangerous.

"They must have been negligent. Let's go check!"

More than ten minutes later, Su Yang saw the group of Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs.

Thirteen Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs total: two adults with a litter of piglets, feasting happily in the fields.

A Bronze-level beast-tamer on a Green Wind Wolf glanced at them from afar, then immediately turned and fled—clearly going to report.

"Ding~ Task released: Use Void Wandering Spirit to exterminate the Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig family."

"Ding~ Task reward: Randomly upgrade Void Wandering Spirit's talent by one level!"

Right after stepping out, Su Yang received good news.

He ordered Storm Eagle to fly above the Bronze-level beast-tamer, its massive shadow engulfing the man.

The beast-tamer looked up and saw Su Yang riding atop Storm Eagle.

"I'll handle those Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs!"

The Bronze-level beast-tamer couldn't see Su Yang's face, but he saw Su Yang's military uniform.

"Thank you, sir!"

Generally, the stronger one's strength, the higher one's military rank.

Though most military ranks were merely nominal.

"But you can notify someone to come and carry off the bodies!"

"Got it!"

Su Yang looked down on the corpses of Silver-level ferocious beasts, but others didn't.

He summoned Void Wandering Spirit and ordered: "Void Wandering Spirit, kill those Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs. First kill the two adults—they have thick hides and tough flesh. Attack their internal organs directly!"

Void Wandering Spirit was currently only Black-Iron High-Grade.

Its opponents were Silver Mid-Grade.

The difficulty was high, but it should still be achievable.

After all, the system never issued impossible tasks.

Void Wandering Spirit flew toward the two Silver-level Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs; the two pigs sensed the danger, raised their heads, and spat two massive fireballs directly at Void Wandering Spirit.

Su Yang hadn't expected the two Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs to act so decisively!

"Void Wandering Spirit, try bending the trajectory of the fireballs!"

Upon hearing Su Yang's words, the gray mist around Void Wandering Spirit thickened further.

The space before it instantly warped, then returned to normal—the two fireballs veered off course, narrowly missing it.

Immediately after, Void Wandering Spirit locked onto the two Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs.

Both pigs let out simultaneous shrieks and collapsed to the ground, blood spurting from their mouths.

The other eleven juvenile Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs, seeing this, scattered and fled in all directions.

"Ding~ Your beast Void Wandering Spirit has learned the skill: Space Distortion—Deflection!"

"Ding~ Your pet, Void Wanderer, has killed a Silver Mid-Grade Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig! Experience +100000!"

"Ding~ Your pet, Void Wanderer, has killed a Silver Low-Grade Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig! Experience +30000!"

"Ding~ Your pet, Void Wanderer, has leveled up to Black-Iron Top-Grade!"

"Ding~ Your pet, Void Wanderer, has leveled up to Bronze Low-Grade!"

Although he had prepared himself mentally, Su Yang was still stunned when Void Wanderer actually killed two Silver-Grade Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs!

With Black-Iron High-Grade strength, it crossed the Bronze rank and killed two Silver-Grade beasts.

It was simply insane!

The main reason for this terrifying record was Void Wanderer's bizarre attack method and its mythic-level spatial distortion talent.

If Void Wanderer tried to use Spatial Distortion-Red to break through the Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig's tough outer hide, it might not have succeeded.

But Void Wanderer possessed the ability to bypass defenses entirely and strike directly at vulnerable internal organs!

Void Wanderer had mastered the skill "Spatial Distortion—Redirect," which also delighted Su Yang.

The system had not lied—Void Wanderer's talent for spatial distortion was indeed beyond imagination.

This skill, which alters the trajectory of an attack, can be used not only for defense but also for offense.

The "Redirect" skill consumed very little energy from Void Wanderer, far less than using "Tear."

The more resilient the enemy's body, the greater the energy cost for Void Wanderer when using the "Tear" skill.

But with "Redirect," Void Wanderer merely slightly warped space, causing the Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig's fireballs to naturally veer off course along the distorted spatial field…

Once he understood this, Su Yang realized that the "Redirect" skill was nearly invincible for defense.

Unless the opponent could control the trajectory of their ranged attack after firing it, the attack would absolutely miss Void Wanderer—unless it pierced through space itself!

After killing two Silver-Grade beasts, Void Wanderer appeared somewhat weakened.

Still, to complete the mission, Su Yang had Storm Eagle carry it to finish off the remaining baby Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs.

Although the baby Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs had fled, they could not escape Storm Eagle's eyes.

Of course, during the killing of the baby Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pigs, Storm Eagle only handled reconnaissance and transport—never striking a blow.

"Ding~ Void Wanderer has successfully eradicated the Red-Skinned Demon Flame Pig clan! Mission completed!"

"Tsk tsk! What a true massacre!"

Hearing the system prompt, Su Yang gazed at the thirteen neatly arranged corpses before him and couldn't help but sigh.

"Ding~ Your pet, Void Wanderer's rare Spatial Sensing talent has been upgraded to Legendary-level Spatial Sensing talent!"
