Chapter 481

Su Yang led Hao Ren and Liu Mengyun to find the two mayors of Wanyang City in a temporarily requisitioned building.

But before meeting the two mayors, Su Yang had already used the memory-recognition ability of the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly to pinpoint the cause of this spider-type ferocious beast outbreak.

In Tianzhu, near Wanyang City, a Beast King had appeared.

Its strength was unknown, but it possessed the ability to command spider-type ferocious beasts.

The Platinum Top-Grade Swift Wolf Spider under the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly's control had once seen that Beast King and, under its orders, launched an attack on Wanyang City.

That Beast King was also spider-shaped, not large in size—about the size of an ordinary military vehicle.

It was very easy to identify: its upper body resembled a young maiden, while its lower body was a terrifying spider form.

Its body seemed entirely made of crystal, slightly transparent, and looked extraordinarily beautiful from afar!

This ferocious beast reminded Su Yang of the extremely rare Imperial-growth-potential Human-Faced Spider.

But Human-Faced Spiders did not have bodies as beautiful as crystal.

The only thing that slightly pleased Su Yang was that the spider Beast King did not seem to be near Wanyang City.

If that Beast King had been nearby, Su Yang might have already taken Wanyang City's survivors and fled!

As for the mission… just abandon it!

"Captain Su, we truly owe you our thanks for arriving in time—if not, Wanyang City would have been finished!"

"No need to thank us; this was our duty," Su Yang said. "But I'd like to ask Mayor Yu—do you have any intelligence on this beast surge?"

The Swift Wolf Spider also knew very little.

"This beast surge may have been caused by a Beast King, but we were likely just caught in the crossfire—it had no intention of breaking through toward us," Yu Hao sighed heavily. "We found out too late… Lao Long, you tell them."

Tan Shulong forced a smile and glanced at Liu Mengyun behind Su Yang. "Yesterday afternoon, a Gold-Rank Beast Tamer from Dada City fled to our Wanyang City. He told us that a spider-type Beast King had appeared near Dada City, capable of commanding spider ferocious beasts. Four cities in Tianzhu have already fallen one after another. He kept fleeing, but finally took a wrong turn and ended up here."

"Four cities?"

Su Yang frowned.

Losing four cities in Tianzhu was not impossible.

If Su Yang hadn't arrived, Wanyang City would have been lost too.

From the Swift Wolf Spider's memories, when it first saw that Beast King, over a dozen Star-Rank Golden Radiance Buddha Spiders were kneeling at its feet.

"Twenty days ago, Tianzhu lost four cities—we don't know the current situation!" Tan Shulong chuckled bitterly. "We've lost contact with Tianzhu for a long time."

Yu Hao said: "After we received the news yesterday afternoon, we sent Beast Tamers to report to the Southwest Military Headquarters, recalled all Reclamation Units, and strengthened our defenses—but we still couldn't hold it."

"Mm."

Su Yang knew this wasn't Wanyang City's fault.

The power disparity was too great.

Yu Hao said: "Sudui Society, I'm deeply grateful you helped us hold Wanyang City, but I still think we should prepare for evacuation."

"You can start preparing for evacuation," Su Yang nodded. "But have you considered that even if you leave Wanyang City, those spider ferocious beasts won't keep chasing eastward and threaten other cities behind Wanyang?"

Yu Hao whispered: "I just want to save as many lives as possible."

"I understand."

Su Yang knew Yu Hao was right.

It was just that their perspectives differed.

Yu Hao was thinking from Wanyang City's standpoint.

He wanted to protect his Beast Tamers and the remaining civilians of Wanyang City.

Su Yang was thinking from the Southwest Military Headquarters' standpoint.

He was considering how to ensure no other western city in the southwest would fall to spider ferocious beasts like Wanyang City did.

Su Yang said: "Then prepare for evacuation for now. We'll assess the situation first—if there's truly no other option, our Fourteenth Emergency Team will protect your evacuation."

If it became truly unavoidable, Su Yang would abandon the defense mission.

He couldn't risk the tens of thousands of civilians and surviving Beast Tamers of Wanyang City just to complete his own mission!

If the mission was abandoned, it was abandoned.

After all, failing a mission carried no punishment!

Yu Hao gratefully said: "Thank you, Captain Su, for your understanding!"

"It's nothing."

"Then excuse me for a moment."

"Go ahead."

Only Tan Shulong remained in the room.

While Su Yang spoke with Yu Hao, he had been watching the female Beast Tamer behind Su Yang.

As a Platinum-Rank Beast Tamer, Tan Shulong held high status in Wanyang City and had no shortage of women around him!

But the woman with glistening white hair, icy demeanor, and stern aura was the most beautiful Han woman Tan Shulong had ever seen.

Standing before her, the Deputy Mayor of Wanyang City himself felt utterly inadequate.
