Chapter 507: The Spider Beast Vanishes! Reward Received!

"Major, is your demon bear alright?" Liu Mengyun asked, leaning against the corpse of the Dragon Frost Spider.

"It's fine, it's slowly recovering," Su Yang replied with a smile. "I can feel it—it was truly happy today, even before it passed out."

"It's just naturally warlike!" Liu Mengyun recalled the demon bear's grotesque scars. "You can tell it loves fighting!"

"I must have restrained it too severely in the past!"

Liu Mengyun thought of the demon bear's incredible vitality—its heart pierced through by the Dragon Frost Spider's massive pincers yet still alive—and shook her head. "Hard to say. Keeping it by your side is certainly safe; if it were me, I'd make the same choice!"

Looking at the carcasses of beasts scattered across the hills, Su Yang asked, "What kind of pet should I choose next?"

"Starlight Rank?"

The moment Liu Mengyun spoke, she realized it was a pointless question.

She herself was now a Platinum Top-Grade Beast Tamer.

How could Su Yang's strength possibly be weaker than hers?

After all, the Ice Moon Sprite had advanced so rapidly only with Su Yang's help.

"Do you have any ideas, Major?"

"I have many. Originally, I wanted a control-type pet, but now that you have the Ice Moon Sprite, I don't think I need to add another!"

"Mm!"

Liu Mengyun nodded.

Su Yang had included her in his calculations, and she was quite satisfied.

"I originally wanted a healing-type pet, but lately I've realized… I might be lacking firepower!" Su Yang chuckled. "I want a pet with massive area-of-effect attacks and devastating destructive power—you know what I mean?"

"You could search for two pets simultaneously," Liu Mengyun suggested. "What you want and what you can obtain are two different things. Healing-type pets with high growth potential are extremely rare—far rarer than mental-type pets—and they usually lack offensive capabilities, making survival in the wild difficult."

"Mm!"

"Large-scale offensive beasts like the one you want, however, should be relatively easier to find," Liu Mengyun said. "I recommend a fire-element beast. Fire-element beasts are renowned for their high damage output. You can submit your dual requirements to Commander Yao—let the Southwest Military Department help you search. That's far better than searching alone."

"Alright, I'll tell Commander Yao when I get back."

When you have resources behind you, you might as well use them well.

As a member of the Southwest Military Department, you might as well enjoy the benefits!

Besides, the Southwest Military Department is quite reliable—just look at the Void Wandering Spirit; they might have other hidden treasures!

Although Su Yang could simply sign a contract with any fire-element beast and gradually cultivate it using the Beast System,

signing a pet with outstanding growth potential would indeed save him considerable time and energy.

Su Yang was no longer the ordinary soldier he once was.

After resting awhile, Liu Mengyun released her pet and began clearing the battlefield, starting with the Dragon Frost Spider.

Su Yang also stood up and released Storm Eagle and Void Wandering Spirit to assist.

There were too many valuable materials on the battlefield to expect Su Yang to collect them all alone.

Materials from beasts below Platinum Rank were discarded outright.

By nightfall, all collected materials except cores had piled into a small mountain.

Neither of their space pouches could hold so much.

Su Yang and Liu Mengyun could only sigh helplessly and first transport the materials to a damaged warehouse in the western district of Wanyang City using their space pouches.

Ordinary beasts never touched the materials from these corpses.

Su Yang could send someone to retrieve them later.

"Ding~ Host has repelled invading beasts and held Wanyang City for three days. Mission completed."

"Ding~ Mission completed. Reward calculation complete. Please select the pet to enhance!"

"Wait a moment!"

With the reward secured, Su Yang no longer felt anxious.

Night fell, and in the empty Wanyang City, only one ordinary house in the western district glowed with light.

By candlelight, Liu Mengyun and Su Yang ate dinner.

It wasn't that they wanted romance—it was because Wanyang City's power system had failed.

Though they could see in darkness, they still preferred a little light to adjust more comfortably.

Eating in total darkness felt strange.

"Major, should we keep guarding?"

"Wait a bit longer. If they keep coming and their strength remains high, we'll flee!" Su Yang chuckled. "Besides, haven't you noticed how quickly the Ice Moon Sprite is growing stronger after this battle?"

Liu Mengyun paused her chopsticks. In her mind, she linked the Ice Moon Sprite with Su Yang's other pets.

As she made the connection, she noticed many commonalities.

"I'll follow your lead!"

"Mm!"

One day passed in Wanyang City. Two days passed.

Soon, five days passed.

Storm Eagle had only spotted scattered spider-type beasts.

But none showed any signs of attacking Wanyang City.

"They probably won't come anymore," Liu Mengyun speculated. "They may have truly shifted their target!"

Su Yang sighed mournfully: "What a pity!"

Behind Su Yang, the Earth Rampager, now recovered, lay on the ground and mimicked Su Yang's sigh!

Hearing Su Yang's words, Liu Mengyun could only laugh and sigh in exasperation.

Others feared beast hordes; Su Yang seemed to actually hope for one!

But seeing that demon bear and the blood-red vines stretching over ten miles, she had to admit that Su Yang truly wasn't afraid of any beast surge!

"Tomorrow, we'll go to Zhangcheng."

The civilians of Yangcheng are all retreating toward Zhangcheng.

"Good!"

In one day, the Hellblood Vine consumed all its offshoots.

"Ding~ Your pet, the Hellblood Vine, has leveled up to Star-Shine Mid-Grade!"

On Su Yang's hand, both the Earthquake Bear and the Hellblood Vine have leveled up to Star-Shine Mid-Grade.

After this battle, Su Yang's strength surged several times over!

At this moment, Su Yang began considering how to distribute the mission rewards.

After some thought, Su Yang set his sights on the Ice Moon Sprite and the Hellblood Vine.

The Hellblood Vine performed excellently this time and deserves a proper reward.

The Ice Moon Sprite has a legendary-tier innate talent; even a slight enhancement will greatly boost its power.

This battle also made Su Yang realize the advantage of having a control-type pet.

Once again, Liu Mengyun released the Ice Moon Sprite, and under Liu Mengyun's curious, resentful, and gloomy gaze, Su Yang took the Ice Moon Sprite outside.

Liu Mengyun felt a persistent unease inside.

As if her wife had been taken away by another man…

Near the collapsed western city wall, a stunningly beautiful girl with blood-red, eerie eyes waited silently for Su Yang.

When she saw Su Yang, her heart stirred slightly with excitement.

Because she was eagerly anticipating Su Yang's reward!

But when she noticed the Ice Moon Sprite beside Su Yang, she became displeased.

The Ice Moon Sprite — Su Yang's pet kept outside!

She knew.

"Master!"

"Mm," Su Yang smiled. "Both of you worked hard. I'll enhance your innate talents first."

"Thank you, Master!" The Hellblood Vine girl grabbed Su Yang's hand and hugged him tightly. "I knew you'd treat me best!"
