Chapter 827

Even if high-ranking officials are too busy, they will send deputy heads to attend the meeting.

Large departments usually have two deputy heads, so there's no fear of absence.

"Colonel Liu, briefly explain what happened!"

Qian Qian Hailong said little and got straight to the point.

Liu Yun did not embellish or speak recklessly; he tried to remain neutral and recount the events as they were.

He knew that if Su Yang continued to develop, he might one day sit in this meeting room.

He did not want to offend anyone.

After Liu Yun finished speaking, the high-ranking military officials of the Southeast Military Department fell silent.

Liu Mengyun was indeed somewhat capricious, but no one spoke out to criticize her.

Liu Yun did not want to offend Liu Mengyun, nor did he want to offend Su Yang.

They actually held the same thoughts.

A Sovereign-level Beast Tamer is already among the top combat forces in the Southeast.

Moreover, these two are absurdly young.

Don't be fooled—they're high-ranking military officials, but in terms of combat power, they truly dare not claim they're stronger than Su Yang or Liu Mengyun!

As long as Su Yang and Liu Mengyun don't commit any principled offenses, they also don't want to offend these two.

Teachers have high tolerance for good students.

Superiors have equally high tolerance for outstanding core personnel!

They must be cherished!

Seeing everyone remain silent, Qian Qian Hailong could only speak up: "What do you think we should do about this?"

An Hang asked quietly: "Should we just respect Liu Mengyun's wishes?"

Hearing An Hang say this, the other high-ranking officials gradually voiced their opinions.

"Just leave it like this! Since Liu Mengyun doesn't want to leave, we shouldn't force her!"

"If Liu Mengyun refuses, even if we forcibly transfer her, she might harbor resentment toward us!"

"Su Yang will probably be upset with us too!"

"Exactly!"

"I also think we should play it safe—if they're truly unhappy and apply for transfer to the General Military Department, our losses will be huge!"

One official joked: "These two youngsters like sticking together—let them stick together!"

The others laughed along.

They also felt there was something between Su Yang and Liu Mengyun.

"Worst case, if there's an emergency on the Southeast border, we temporarily assign one of them—Su Yang or Liu Mengyun—to respond, then return them afterward. Su Yang won't have grounds to complain!"

"Perfect!"

"Yes, this plan is excellent!"

"It wastes no combat power and even eases the burden on the emergency response unit!"

"…"

Qian Qian Hailong finally understood.

This group of high-ranking officials had all chosen to compromise.

They didn't plan to separate Liu Mengyun and Su Yang.

This didn't surprise Qian Qian Hailong.

After all, Su Yang and Liu Mengyun were too exceptional to be treated like ordinary soldiers.

Ordinary soldiers almost never get transferred across military departments.

But Su Yang and Liu Mengyun were different—they had connections in the General Military Department; applying for transfer would take minutes.

If they truly drove Su Yang and Liu Mengyun away,

the other seven military departments of the Huaxia Federation would fight over them!

The other seven departments, once they got them, wouldn't praise them—they'd likely mock them behind their backs as fools.

"Alright! I understand your meaning. Let's keep them together… Do you have any other differing opinions?"

Qian Qian Hailong asked.

The high-ranking officials said nothing—that meant no other opinions.

"Then let's talk about something else. There's no precedent in the entire Huaxia Federation for a Sovereign-level officer!" Qian Qian Hailong said softly. "If this gets out, won't people think our Southeast Military Department doesn't value Beast Tamer elites? I propose we leak the story that we intended to promote Liu Mengyun, but she refused to leave. What do you think? Even if the General Military Department asks, we can deflect!"

"Agreed!"

"There's no other option!"

"Using a Sovereign-level elite as an officer does risk appearing disrespectful—leaking this story will protect our Southeast Military Department's reputation!"

…

No one objected.

This was best for their Southeast Military Department.

As for whether Su Yang would be upset by the leak,

it was simple: just let it leak as if no one cared.

Thus, with the Southeast Military Department's active promotion,

within just two days, everyone in Haicheng knew that the Sovereign-level elite Liu Mengyun had refused a military promotion and transfer order, choosing to stay by Su Yang's side as his officer.

"What? Liu Mengyun actually wants to stay by Su Yang's side?"

"What's going through Liu Mengyun's mind?"

"I think Liu Mengyun and Su Yang's relationship is definitely unusual!"

"Isn't that obvious? If their relationship weren't unusual, how could Liu Mengyun have refused promotion?"

"Could they be lovers?"

"Don't be so vulgar. Su Yang truly defends Liu Mengyun—haven't you forgotten how Su Yang defended Liu Mengyun during the Battle of Shengjing City? Maybe Liu Mengyun is simply grateful and returning the favor!"

"The Southeast Military Headquarters isn't bad—they still respect Liu Mengyun's opinion!"

"Of course they would! If you were a King-level powerhouse, the Southeast Military Headquarters would respect your opinion too!"

"…"

Soon, the worm train departing from Zhanghai City spread this news throughout the entire Southeast, as well as to major cities in the nearby East, South, and Central regions.

Su Yang's figure appeared in the wilderness.

Looking at the nearby wreckage from the explosion and the ferocious beasts devouring corpses, Su Yang nodded in satisfaction.

The Void Walker's Void Stride skill had become increasingly refined.

He teleported directly to the target with almost no deviation.

Yesterday, Su Yang's appearance was restored, allowing him to designate one pet beast to learn a new skill.

Su Yang decided to grant this skill-learning opportunity to the Void Walker.

The Void Walker's skills were still too few!

Now, among his pet beasts, the Void Walker was his top priority for cultivation.

"Ding~ Your pet beast, the Void Walker, has learned the skill—Spatial Distortion—Elongation!"

Spatial Distortion—Elongation: Can contract or extend space to achieve short-range teleportation!

Seeing this skill, Su Yang nodded in deep satisfaction.

Spatial Elongation was an extremely practical skill!

This skill had no offensive capability, but it could support any pet beast in battle—when used properly, it was a divine technique!

Looking at a Platinum-grade Jin Gang vulture pecking at the corpse of a Swift Wolf Spider, Su Yang extended his hand.

Su Yang asked tentatively: "Void Walker, I want to strike that Jin Gang vulture. If I throw a punch, can you contract the space between me and the Jin Gang vulture so my fist hits it?"
