Chapter 85

"It's fine, as long as you're happy!"

Seeing his mother and sister satisfied, Su Yang smiled gently.

Ensuring his family lived safely and comfortably, free from worry, and providing them with a secure haven—this was his pursuit.

Yet he could not remain indefinitely in this warm, comfortable home.

Su Yang never forgot that this was an extremely cruel world.

Su Liqun gave him such favorable treatment entirely because he recognized Su Yang's potential.

"Mom, I'm going to the military headquarters to see what suitable positions are available!"

"Son, you must protect yourself well!"

Zhang Xiuru knew perfectly well that their residence in the grand villa was due to Qixing City's regard for her son.

"Don't worry!" Su Yang joked with a smile, "You've seen my Storm Eagle—it runs incredibly fast!"

"Mm!"

Su Yang pulled out a large handful of core crystals and placed them in Zhang Xiuru's hands: "Mom, Xiao Xiao is starting at her new school in a few days—go to the supermarket and buy her new clothes, new study tools, dress her up nicely, and get yourself a few new outfits too."

Core crystals and Federal currency are both accepted in the market.

The purchasing power of core crystals is even more stable than that of Federal currency!

"Alright!" Zhang Xiuru took the core crystals and asked, "Should I buy you something too?"

"Sure!"

Arriving at the military headquarters, he sought out Yin Dong again; after entering Yin Dong's office, someone brought them tea.

"What else do you need?"

Su Yang smiled and said, "Of course, it's about joining the military!"

Yin Dong chuckled, "You just moved into a new home—don't you want to rest a few days?"

"No need—I'd rather start working right away."

"Good!" Yin Dong was a man of decisive action; he pulled out a booklet and handed it to Su Yang: "Here are all the positions in Qixing City's military. Deputy Chen already informed me—you can pick any you like, and he'll arrange it for you."

This was the treatment of a connection…

"Any recommendations?"

"This one!"

Yin Dong took the booklet, flipped through a few pages, then pointed to a position: "In Qixing City's military, this role sees the fiercest combat, suffers the heaviest casualties, carries the highest danger, yet offers the greatest freedom—take a look."

Reclamation Corps!

The Qixing City military publicly maintains two major units.

One is the Defense Force, responsible for protecting Qixing City's urban area and the safety zones beyond, as well as maintaining order through a police force.

Wang Tianlang's Ant Village patrol squad belongs to the Defense Force.

These military units are relatively safe.

The Reclamation Corps, however, faces an extremely arduous mission.

They must fight ferocious beasts in the wild, eradicate as many as possible, to secure more living space for Qixing City's residents and meet the demands of population growth.

The Reclamation Corps experiences the fiercest combat, the highest danger, and produces the most Beast Tamer elites!

"The Reclamation Corps is truly suited to me!"

"With your current Bronze-level strength, I can assign you near Mount Qixing!" Yin Dong pointed to the location of Mount Qixing on the military map behind him: "We have an iron mine within Mount Qixing—the Reclamation Corps' current primary target."

"Mount Qixing originally housed an extremely powerful Starshine-tier beast, but our Lord Mayor drove it away, and several Platinum-tier beasts have been eliminated!"

At this, Yin Dong's face brimmed with pride.

"Now, the strongest remaining are Gold-tier beasts… The recent Sparrow Plague also caused Suffered heavy losses among the beasts within Mount Qixing; I estimate that by next year or the year after, Mount Qixing will be fully cleared!"
