Chapter 1031

~9 min read 1,615 words

Nobody's buying it...

He wore a worried, bitter expression.

Several Awakened Ones sitting on the truck's cargo bed angrily pounded the cargo hold, as if venting their resentment.

As minor figures like them, the messages they sent were mostly dismissed as trash; whereas Kre, who held the highest hopes, simply threatened them outright, daring to act superior—when they return, they'll be dealt with.

They gave a bitter smile, glanced at each other, and for a moment didn't know what to do.

There was no way around it; their private chat method of selling goods really did resemble that of scammers.

Undeterred, the burly man sitting among them looked around, then hardened his resolve:

"Private messages are useless; let's go see Lord Kre directly! I don't believe that, even if we meet him in person, he'll still think we're scammers!"

Just as his words fell, a young Awakened One couldn't help but interrupt him:

"Come on, Alte, we have no standing to go to the command headquarters—let alone see Lord Kre; even seeing a mere Captain, they wouldn't bother with us."

"Yeah, Alte, as minor figures like us, nobody believes anything we say."

"To be honest, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe there exists such a powerful Awakened One in this world—if not for the video, I'd still think it's fake."

The discussion grew noisy; hearing the few's retreat, the burly Alte's expression turned urgent—just as he was about to say something, he suddenly heard the sound of a convoy approaching from afar.

Only to see on the main road back to the city, an armored convoy resembling a long dragon, flying Kre's banner, speeding toward them.

Huh!?

His eyes widened to ovals; Alte stared at the familiar banner and instantly realized that the person they wanted to see was on the lead armored vehicle!

"What person!? Still dare to block the vehicle!?"

"We have important secrets to tell Lord Kre! Please believe us!"

"Let us see Lord Kre!"

Amid the clamor, the several scavenging Awakened Ones, panting, desperately suppressed their inner tension, their eyes locked fixedly on the lead armored vehicle.

This was their last chance. If they didn't take this opportunity to sell the information to Kre in person, they might never get another chance!

Poking his head out, Kre, who had originally been arranging a plan to surround and kill Lin An, looked out with a displeased expression.

Upon hearing the message from those few, he instantly realized they were the ones trying to sell him false information.

Already interrupted, Kre felt anger well up inside him.

"What nerve! Do these people really think I'm an idiot!?"

However, just as he was about to order his subordinates to directly take out these idiots, the nearby Wind Hunter, thinking it over, stopped him:

"Let them come over."

"Kre, don't you think these people might be telling the truth? Otherwise, what gives them the nerve to come before you?"

"Even if we assume the report of killing a third-rank elite is false, perhaps there really is a mysterious expert who made a move."

Being cautious, as Wind Hunter spoke, Kre hesitated a moment then coldly fixed his gaze on the lead Alte.

"Fine, I'll give you one chance."

"If the information is false, I'll personally strike you down!"

Inside the armored vehicle, Kre glanced askance at the trembling Alte as he climbed aboard.

He wore a mocking tone, asking contemptuously:

"You're the ones who sent the message, right?"

"You say that just now, an Awakened One, right before your eyes, instantly killed a third-rank elite?"

As he spoke, Kre felt his own words sounded a bit laughable, like someone telling him an ant could kick an elephant to death with one foot.

"Yes, sir!"

Summoning courage, Alte lowered his head and began speaking at a rapid pace:

"Just an hour ago, we were picking up coal near the mine. After hearing a few violent explosions, we saw a third-rank elite mutant launched into the air by a mysterious person! Then, within just a few seconds, that mysterious person struck and killed the monster!"

Listening to Alte's description, Kre raised his eyebrows, half-smiling, and asked:

"A mine? An elite mutant? You might as well just say it was a Sunwalker."

"I have to say, your nerve is indeed huge. But do you know that the Sunwalker's most abnormal trait is its defense and regenerative ability?"

His tone exaggerated, Kre let out a cold laugh and continued:

"Don't say that any Awakened One at the current stage could fight it; even if the world's top fighter came, against it they'd be trash!"

"Killing it in a few seconds—why don't you just say you stared the monster dead with one glance!?"

Having said that, Kre looked at the frightened Alte and felt he was merely wasting his time and insulting his intelligence.

However, the burly man who had thought he'd been exposed suddenly lifted his head, looking at him with a conflicted expression.

"Sir! We have a recording!"

Huh!?

He blinked slightly, and moments later a video-sharing notification suddenly appeared on his system panel.

The video was very short.

As Kre, half-believing, half-doubting, opened the video, his originally disdainful expression gradually shifted—first surprise, then shock; after the video finished playing, he saw the two third-rank Awakened Ones inside the armored vehicle, now as if they'd seen a ghost, frozen stiff in place.

Although the image was blurry and almost lacked detail, from the residual psychic aura shown in the video they could tell at a glance that it was indeed a third-rank battle!

Unbelievable, their faces filled with shock.

Kre swallowed dryly, remaining speechless for a moment.

"Good heavens... these wastes actually told the truth! There really exists an Awakened One in this world capable of opposing a Sunwalker!"

"And that person is from our own war zone!"

"Unfathomable, unimaginable—if the Sunwalker truly died, this news would be a world-shaking bombshell!"

Imagine, a monster that is nearly one of the strongest known to humanity at this stage, easily slain by a mysterious person.

Doesn't that mean the opponent's strength could be Fourth Stage!? A Fourth Stage, a hidden superpower is in Soviet Russia!?

For the first time, Ke Lei felt as if the heavens were playing a huge joke on him!

Isn't it possible that he could single-handedly thrash them, crushing Lin An by a hundred streets!?

"Too abnormal... too unbelievable!"

As if realizing something, Feng Lie beside him muttered to himself, suppressing the shock in his heart, and took a deep look at A Er Tai who wanted to sell the news.

One second later, he quickly issued orders to his confidants:

"Quick, go check the war zone mission list right now! See if the Day Walker mission has been completed!"

Shortly after, the confirmed news arrived; in the not-so-large armored vehicle, Ke Lei and Feng Lei fell into an eerie silence for a moment.

The matter had already been confirmed true by both sides.

In an instant, a panic mixed with excitement spread in both of their hearts.

A Er Tai could think of selling the news, and they naturally could too! Moreover, compared to this First Level, they understood the importance of this news even more!

In the Soviet Russia War Zone, there is someone suspected to be a Third Level Peak, or even a Fourth Stage Awakened One hiding there!

Exchanging a glance, the Third Level Awakened One Feng Lie beside him couldn't help but speak:

"Should we still go and surround and kill that Lei En?"

"Should we first sell the news, or go find him trouble?"

As he spoke, his eyes held a hint of greed and eagerness. Helping Ke Lei kill the intruder, aside from the risk, the reward was only a piece of equipment.

Although Ke Lei promised to take the equipment from the opponent's corpse after killing them, compared to selling this earth-shattering news, everything seemed less important.

Hesitating and struggling, Ke Lei saw Feng Lei's thoughts, and for a moment he didn't know what to do.

However, while the two each had their own thoughts, preparing to first try contacting several familiar Third Levels to spread the news, a sudden commotion came from outside the vehicle.

"Who is it!?"

"Someone has broken in!"

"Quick, call Ke Lei.."

"Whoosh-bang!"

The ground shook, and consecutive sonic booms sounded like thunder falling to earth.

However, just as the people outside the vehicle panicked, looking at the black shadow approaching at high speed, that black shadow instantly disappeared again.

Who dares to ram into our own unit!?

Inside the vehicle.

Ke Lei, with a look of shock and anger, was about to stick his head out to check when he unexpectedly heard a calm voice in his ear:

"How come, you haven't been looking for me all along?"

In an instant, Feng Lei on the vehicle tensed up, a strong sense of danger surging in his heart. His pupils contracted sharply, and he couldn't believe his eyes as Lin An appeared like a ghost behind him.

He is... how did he get in!?

Fast, too fast!

No time to think, the stiffened Feng Lei instinctively wanted to flee, but he suddenly realized that his whole body felt as if it were locked on.

A huge pressure erupted from the mysterious person's body, as if a top predator were looking down on him.

One second later.

Just then, Ke Lei, having just come to his senses, turned his head with some fear to look at the source of the voice, and in an instant saw a demonic red light infinitely expanding in his field of view.

"No!!"
