Chapter 118

Lin An stood up, he understood Gao Tian's fear.

If the whole Linjiang City had already been contaminated before and after the Apocalypse outbreak, that would mean any aquatic product carries the zombie virus and spiritual contamination.

Thus many Survivors who fish for shrimp and crabs out of hunger will be subject to a dual source of infection.

As long as an external factor triggers it, these people are potential Mutants.

"Don't worry, the situation probably isn't what you imagine."

Lin An spoke to comfort Gao Tian, indicating he need not be afraid.

"First, why would I say this batch of crabs should be from another area?"

"You can look at the black fish that were also shipped in November."

"After being contaminated by spiritual energy, organisms will show slight mutation, mainly manifested as corrosion of the outer skin as if by sulfuric acid."

"Look at this fish."

Lin An picked up a dead fish and handed it to Gao Tian.

"This black fish shows no abnormality, which indicates that other aquatic products after November have not been contaminated."

"If Linjiang City were entirely contaminated, these black fish could not escape."

"Moreover."

He took out the red tag he had picked up earlier.

"On November 1st, Le Company began supplying crabs to Shang Cheng."

"So these crabs should be two batches, coming from two places."

"Only this company's source is problematic."

After repeatedly comparing the black fish in his hand, Gao Tian also took the tag, and couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

Seeing this, Lin An nodded; in fact, he could be so certain the crabs came from elsewhere mainly because of his Past Life memory.

At this stage, the degree to which organisms are eroded by spiritual energy is not high; most have not even been contaminated.

The appearance of mutant organisms will have to wait until after the great catastrophe; at this stage, at most only a tiny number of organisms and plants have been contaminated.

We just don't know where this company's source actually comes from; in a batch of crabs, they actually possess both the zombie virus and spiritual contamination.

Moreover, according to shipping time estimates.

This batch of source already had problems at least one week before the Apocalypse outbreak.

Could there be an unknown area where a large amount of virus existed beforehand?

Lin An felt heavy-hearted; this place is probably not far from Linjiang City.

Although we can now confirm that the cause of the Mutants' appearance is that the spider-egg parasites ate the crabs.

So...

Just as Lin An was thinking, the system's notification tone suddenly came:

"Beep, Savior Team mission: investigation of Shang Cheng's secrets progress 30%."

"Next stage mission: find the origin of the spider eggs."

Indeed, it is a staged mission.

Lin An didn't think much more, directly summoned Gao Tian to prepare to go to the 4th floor.

Gao Tian was doubtful, somewhat puzzled as he asked:

"Brother Lin, why do we need to go up?"

The Savior Team mission is shared among all members, so Gao Tian also knows they need to investigate Shang Cheng's secrets.

However, the mission panel they see differs from Lin An's, containing only a simple mission description with no other content.

"If we want to investigate the origin of the spider eggs, I think the urgent priority is to find the first person who ate the crabs."

"I remember that guy (Wang Teng) said before he died that there was a woman who liked to eat crabs raw."

"That's what I think."

"Whether it's the first monster I killed with my own hands or the later Mutants, they all have a special place."

"That's why they actively ate the dead crabs; you know they were rational living people at the time."

"I think the woman who first ate the crabs definitely has a problem."

"The secret of the spider eggs is very likely on her..."

Lin An, hearing him say that, slightly nodded.

Gao Tian still has some thinking ability, at least not like Zhang Tie that Xiong Hanzi...

"What you said is correct; where do you think she would be?"

Gao Tian hesitated a moment, recalling the man's words before his death.

"Should be in the crab-catching pool?"

"No, I just looked, there's nothing there. It should have been thrown by them into some corner of Shang Cheng; after all, it's a corpse..."

Lin An let out a light sigh; Gao Tian's observational skills are still lacking.

If An Jing Tian were here, he wouldn't think that way.

He said while walking.

"Do you still remember the marrow-sucking spider we killed outside? Who do you think it is? Or whose legs are those people's legs?"

Gao Tian stood frozen, suddenly recalling that disgusting-looking monster.

"Those legs... are that woman's and the previous Survivors'!? Their corpses combined into the marrow-sucking spider!?"

"The front part is correct, the back part is wrong."

Lin An interrupted his words, closed his eyes, focused, and began to probe the situation above.

A silence prevailed, with only the Judgment Eye continuously returning?? and a large number of spider eggs present.

The marrow-sucking spider is just a marrow-sucking spider; that monster's eggs were likely already parasitizing the woman's head.

To hasten hatching, it controlled the woman into eating the contaminated crab, accelerating mutation.

That's why these people actively ate the contaminated crab.

Moreover, there is another important point.

After everyone had diarrhea, they stopped eating crab, indicating they had no spider eggs in their brains at that time.

Only that woman kept eating crab, which shows she was the first host of the spider egg.

Gao Tian understood Lin An's meaning and jogged behind him all the way.

Then we should definitely examine the marrow-sucking spider's corpse...

As the first monster parasitizing a human brain, its corpse must surely hold clues!

Lin An glanced irritably at Gao Tian behind him.

What you said is correct, but where is the monster's corpse?

.....!!!

Holy shit!

After hearing Lin An's question, Gao Tian then remembered that the marrow-sucking spider's corpse had long been turned into scattered ashes by the annihilation effect of his arrow, drifting away with the wind...

But I still don't understand why we have to go to the 4th floor!

Gao Tian felt a bit embarrassed, like a curious baby.

He usually thinks his IQ is pretty high, but for some reason, when following Lin An he feels like an idiot.

Lin An patiently began to explain; he still has a good temper toward his partner.

When we came, there was a mall directory on the basement level.

The 4th floor is the dining area, where there is a very famous sashimi restaurant.

Combined with the spider egg parasitism situation, it is likely transmitted via ingestion into the human body.

Since that woman likes to eat raw food, it is highly probable she came to the mall to eat at that restaurant.

Or she might have eaten there before.

Gao Tian, unwilling to give up, continued to ask:

Brother Lin, do you mean the spider eggs parasitized her while she was eating at the restaurant?

But she might have come just to shop! Not necessarily to eat.

Even if she ate at that restaurant, it doesn't necessarily mean she was parasitized here; could she have been parasitized at another restaurant?

Lin An:....

He never expected that one of the Six Kings from his past life, the Demon Hunter, would actually be such a stubborn idiot.

Read the mission description carefully.

【Investigate the secrets within the mall.】

If the spider eggs in the woman's brain came from the outside, what does that have to do with the mall? With so many fresh food restaurants in Linjiang City, how could we possibly find it within three hours?

Unless this mission is dead set on making me fail and die, it couldn't appear like this.

As if something had occurred to him, Lin An blurted out an aside.

Gao Tian, remember that any mission released in the Doomsday Game definitely has a way to be completed! It will surely give you a glimmer of life!

Not long from now, the Doomsday Game will continuously release missions.

By then, if you receive a solo mission.

You must remember every word of the mission, for it concerns your life and death...
