Chapter 1463
Long An's corpse... the Bronze Gate?"
His complexion strange, he secretly grew half a body, with flesh and blood writhing all over, the Annihilation Overlord endured the pain and whispered:
"Emperor Lin.."
"You don't know what's going on with the corpse, we don't know either..."
"In fact, we didn't even notice that Long An's corpse had disappeared. Or rather, his corpse had already been completely digested from the very beginning."
"At least I personally saw his corpse being divided into several parts; the portion belonging to the Alien Species side had long been thrown into the transformation core, becoming nourishment."
"Are you suspecting that someone inside us stole the corpse?"
It seemed they were also curious about how Lin An could become Long An.
The Annihilation Overlord nervously answered the first question.
To be honest, they initially didn't even consider Lin An taking on that Long An identity, simply because they never thought corpse resurrection could happen.
Afterward, it was simply that the white bone monster resembled Long An too closely, which led them to dreadfully conclude this possibility.
As for the traitor stealing the corpse? Sorry, he truly doesn't know; the Alien Species probably never even considered it, and such a thing couldn't possibly happen.
As for traitors... there really aren't many; most died in various accidents, leaving only him.
Those not of our kind must have different hearts; this principle is understood by any race.
Noticing that the Annihilation Overlord's spiritual fluctuations showed no abnormality, Lin An nodded slightly after listening, indicating he should continue, though his doubts grew deeper.
Did the trader come from the Mutants? Or is the answer simply that Chu An deceived him?
All the clues we have now point more and more to Chu An, after all he blew up the Alien Species planets. No matter what those beings who traded corpses originally sought, they surely wouldn't want their own world destroyed, would they?
From beginning to end, Lin An never detected any Alien Species world deliberately making contact with him.
Everything seems like a riddle shrouded in darkness.
"As for the Bronze Gate..."
"Emperor Lin, that gate seems to have been opened first from your world."
"Initially the gate was closed; the Alien Species tried to break it open by force, but couldn't. Then one day, probably a few years ago, a crack suddenly opened. After the Alien Species high-level discovered it was a new world, that's when the subsequent events happened."
"The gate's origin... I'm certain the Alien Species don't know either. After all, how long have they even existed? That gate has obviously been on this planet for a very long time!"
While speaking, a flicker of mockery flashed in the Annihilation Overlord's eyes, as if deep down he didn't regard the Alien Species as a civilization at all.
As if afraid that his successive bits of information were too little, he hesitated a moment, then quietly added:
"I suspect... that gate is very likely a product of the previous civilization. Or rather, it's related to the fugitives."
"Your world probably also has fugitives, right? Those are the legendary impostors pretending to be gods!"
"Fugitives?"
Lin An raised his eyebrows, looking at the Annihilation Overlord with some surprise.
He hadn't expected the other side's information to actually mention fugitives (remnants).
This world.. also has them?
Seeing Lin An suddenly show interest, as if he knew nothing of certain secrets, the Annihilation Overlord gave a fawning smile and spoke earnestly:
"Emperor Lin, this counts as a secret. The apocalypse progression you've experienced should still be quite short, and you probably haven't had much contact with other civilizations, right?"
"I'll tell you a secret you may only learn in the future: actually, civilizations like ours, which are low-level, are in fact 'newborns'."
"The apocalypse process began a very, very, very long time ago...."
After a long sigh, the Annihilation Overlord briefly organized his words, as if the forthcoming secret information was immense.
"First, you need to know that civilizations like ours, ranked below third before the apocalypse, cannot undertake interstellar colonization, plane shifting, or crossing big and small worlds; such low-level civilizations are generally artificially made."
"Our history is basically fake!"
Lin An paused upon hearing this, but did not interrupt the Annihilation Overlord.
He had heard similar information from Clein and Chu An. Civilizations below third level? All fake?
Having been reborn, he has constantly sought strength and resolved crises; regarding some abnormalities in human history, including remnants, he had actually reached similar conclusions.
Earth may have experienced the apocalypse more than once.
Even in Lin An's earlier speculation, he had doubted that Earth might be akin to a punishment dungeon! Of course, looking at it now, it probably isn't?
Seeing Lin An not interrupt him, the Annihilation Overlord saw no need to hide anything; he knew his survival depended on whether he could provide truly valuable information!
"Emperor Lin, you can understand it this way: civilizations below third level are too weak, their history inherently short. Though it seems like a span of a few thousand or even tens of thousands of years appears vast, to higher civilizations it's hardly worth mentioning."
"I'm not entirely sure where your system lies relative to the Fei Yi Shijie's system, but I can confirm that our star cluster belongs to the most desolate, remote, backward region of the universe."
"Therefore, whether it's your civilization or ours, our origins likely come from the 'seeding' of some higher civilization."
"They span major star systems, continually scattering the seeds of life, even remaking entire star systems. It's like planting trees in a desert, treating us as a protective forest sharing the burden of the apocalypse process."
"Of course, it's also possible they hope we can become part of them to resist the apocalypse."
"Higher civilizations seeding? Are the remnants their people? Are they creating our history and controlling human progress?"
"If a civilization cultivated at a certain stage is insufficient to resist the apocalypse, they would choose to destroy and start over!?"
Lin An instantly asked, a flash of astonishment crossing his eyes.
He had long suspected that the apocalypse had erupted many times.
He nodded, then shook his head.
The Annihilation Overlord hesitated before speaking, as if he himself wasn't entirely clear on the specifics:
"One could say that, but we know very little about the true situation of those higher civilizations."
"Emperor Lin, you might have misunderstood one thing: in the eyes of higher civilizations, we are actually insignificant specks of sand. Just like if you casually went to an ordinary technological world, would you pay attention to them?"
"After higher civilizations do the seeding, they won't bother with us anymore, merely leaving a trace in our genes."
"Actually, the information I know comes from us purchasing fragments at high price from other civilizations on an apocalypse battlefield."
"According to their given information, after higher civilizations finish seeding, they basically won't care what we develop into. After all, for higher civilizations, mass-producing third- and fourth-stage cultivations is too simple; they want no interference, naturally arising civilizations, seeking diversity and something entirely unlike artificial manufacture... a kind of 'possibility'."
Forged history, or rather something is guiding it. Generally it's the Fugitives who do it.
After a moment of contemplation, the Annihilator Overlord, with some effort, raised the half-hand that had just sprouted flesh buds, and carefully condensed a galaxy image in front of Lin An.
"Fugitives are generally civilizations that have failed in the Doomsday Game. They neither want to be dogs nor resign themselves to waiting for death; in other words, they want to eke out a living."
"Then these stronger remnants will sneak out of their own region, and by various means mix into newly born civilized planets. Of course, some also hide in instances."
"The stronger ones on the planet are also living a bit better. Those in the instance are the most miserable; once reset, they're basically as good as dead."
"They are like parasites, usually accustomed to hiding behind the scenes, silently guiding the direction of civilization while trying to live as well as possible. So they generally like to pretend to be gods and ghosts."
"And because of their existence, even if these guys hide very well! They will still attract the system's attention! Causing some civilizations, while still weak, to inexplicably suffer disasters not belonging to civilization levels!"
"This bunch of guys are just a bunch of cowardly, death-fearing worms!"
At this point, the Annihilator Overlord's eyes flashed with contempt, as if extremely disdainful, or even disgusted with such fugitives.
Although they also want to escape, or rather the Alien Species want to flee to Earth. But essentially they still want to persist, relying on the Alien Species Emperor to break through the Fifth Stage and then face the Apocalypse again!
"So, you just ran away, also wanting to become fugitives?"
Speaking softly, I noticed that when the Annihilator fled with the Alien Species, there was clearly a definite goal.
Lin An simply spoke up and asked.
"Are the Fugitives in the instance the weakest? That Soviet warzone, the evil god in the instance?"
Hearing Lin An's offhand question, the Annihilator Overlord's expression suddenly stiffened, and after being stunned for several seconds, a bitter smile actually appeared on his face.
Damn it..
They used to look down on fugitives, but now thinking about it, if they want to survive, they can only become fugitives.
Exactly, he plans to escape into the instance.
Realizing that he had actually become the very existence he once despised most, the Annihilator Overlord instantly felt how ironic all this was....
Subconsciously, he couldn't help but turn back and glance at the planet continually shattering in the cold space.
"That was, their home."
