Chapter 1595: Unsolvable and Unfair
The laboratory was utterly silent.
Only the constantly shifting virtual images floated silently.
Under the eerie blue light, it seemed to silently display the terror of the future.
In the brief silence.
Lin An turned his head and looked at Klein.
Under Klein's somewhat surprised gaze, Lin An slowly spoke.
"I admit I can't go on."
"But, that only represents the present."
"It's still the same problem."
"If reaching the Fifth Stage means higher difficulty, then the Fifth Stage is a dead end—we might as well all run away."
"But why is everyone pursuing greater strength? You, your civilization behind you, advanced humanity, including every race I've seen—everyone is chasing more powerful power."
"This isn't a certain death; it's just that the difficulty has increased, which is fair."
Lin An took a deep breath while speaking, then simply removed his mask and looked seriously at Klein.
"Essentially, the difficulty is still the same."
"When I was weak, the first time I encountered a Meme doll, I was also terrified."
"I was once nearly killed by a Second-Level Mutant; that battle was just as unsolvable for me."
"I have died at the hands of Supernatural Incidents, perhaps a hundred times, a thousand times."
"When I first saw the Alien Species Emperor, I also thought I couldn't possibly defeat him, but I could only force myself to rush through that door, fighting with my life."
"I have died, many times..."
"But in the end I still survived."
As his words fell, Lin An's gaze was firm, as if knowing these things still did not affect his choice.
The difficulty is the same.
When weak, enemies are weak; when strong, enemies are stronger. In this apocalypse, it's nothing more than fighting with our lives.
He has died.
Mo Ling has died.
Zhang Tie has died.
The Second Will also died.
Looking around, in fact few people know how heavy Lin An's heart feels each time he recalls those around him.
He certainly knows the terror of the apocalypse; he has never relaxed for a moment.
Despite his doing everything possible to protect everyone, the people around him still die, still constantly fall into danger.
He is Lin An, the world's number one, the existence admired and worshipped by countless survivors, practically invincible!
But what of it?
To wish for smooth sailing, to hope to survive safely in this apocalypse, is utterly impossible.
After countless painful struggles and countless desperate thoughts of giving up, Lin An has clearly realized he has no way out.
In his dictionary, the words 'give up' will no longer appear.
Across from him, Klein stared blankly at the unwavering Lin An before him, his face full of surprise.
He seemed to be reacquainting himself with Lin An, a complex feeling flashing in his eyes.
He couldn't help but admit that, in some sense, Lin An is indeed stronger than him.
He is merely a small researcher, a pitiful worm hiding in an instance.
Although I find Lin An's steadfastness perhaps a bit laughable, anyone who dares to face the apocalypse is always worthy of admiration.
Just...
"Lin An..."
"You don't want to flee, you don't want to hide—I actually admire you for that. I believe Chu An would choose you, probably for this reason."
"I've seen too many so-called strongmen's beliefs collapse, and many civilizations that painstakingly persisted suddenly crumble, fleeing like stray dogs, never again having the courage to face the apocalypse head-on."
"But... some things are actually quite unfair."
A sigh, pitiful.
Without waiting for Lin An to instinctively ask, Klein retracted the light screen and spoke again:
"Have you ever thought that you're actually not normal?"
"Lin An... your growth speed is too fast, so fast it defies common sense! This might look like genius, a miracle, a savior to outsiders, but in the face of the apocalypse, it's truly dangerous!"
"Your strength surpasses everyone by a great margin—even several hundred times, several thousand times!"
"In other words, Lin An, your strength growth speed completely surpasses the progress of the apocalypse!"
"Do you know what that means?"
"It means Lin Dui is awesome!"
Suddenly, Zhang Tie chimed in with a foolish expression, almost making Klein unable to retort.
After Klein took a deep breath and couldn't help but glare at Xiong Hanzi, he then spoke his answer.
"This means that future missions and difficulty will be tied to your strength! Even if you, Lin An, can survive, others cannot!"
"The system has no feelings! The apocalypse is even less fair!"
"According to the system's judgment standard, you are Fourth Stage, so enemies are at least that level; switching to other types of disasters would also be this difficulty!"
"Lin An, if you were a selfish person, a cowardly weakling, I would actually not advise you!"
"Have you considered that when a group disaster breaks out, everyone around you could become your burden? You would surely be dragged to death, worn to death—even if perhaps you could have survived otherwise!"
Ke Laien's rarely seen emotions were somewhat agitated.
That is a very strange kind of 'hatred'.
He seemed to have already foreseen Lin An's fate; besides feeling regret and pity, he actually felt annoyed by Lin An's showing off.
"According to my strength, to be hooked?"
Lin An's expression changed slightly; with his thinking ability, he could instantly simulate what the disaster described by Ke Laien would mean after it occurs—what does it ultimately mean?
In fact, he actually had a similar idea when he first broke into the Alien Species world.
His appearance accelerated the Apocalypse's progress, causing some hidden enemies to appear earlier.
To humanity, he is both the foremost hope and, to some extent, the root of the disaster.
In his memory, the enemies of his Past Life were far less terrifying than they are now.
Just look at Luo En and the others to know.
Although his strength increased quickly enough, in the Fugitives' War he could only become cannon fodder.
Seeing Lin An understand his meaning, Ke Laien suppressed the emotions he shouldn't have and spoke coldly:
"Lin An, normally for a civilization to reach Fifth Stage, it takes decades at the slowest, centuries at the slowest, and even the fastest takes over ten years."
"During this period, no matter how divided the civilization is among themselves or how individuals are, under the baptism of the Apocalypse, the whole will obtain a great improvement, able to clearly realize what must be done to survive."
"Put simply, all members of other civilizations have gone through a complete novice tutorial; their strengths are roughly equal, especially high-level powers, which will be quite balanced."
"But Earth is different."
"You haven't even finished the novice tutorial, and many survivors simply haven't experienced the three major events. As a result, under your leadership, you have directly unlocked Hell difficulty."
"Perhaps you think strength can be forcibly increased; I know you definitely gained a lot on this trip."
"But what about experience? What about what you've been through?"
"A few slightly stronger Mutants are enough to make humanity panic; the three major events of the Anomaly Point are enough to leave everyone helpless. Those people out there are still fighting Zombies—do you think they can adapt to fighting natural disasters?!!"
"Relying solely on you to solve it? You couldn't do it even if you worked yourself to death!"
"Moreover, Lin An, you actually have very little experience."
"How many dungeons have you gone through? How many battlefields have you been to? How many missions have you completed?"
"Frankly pointing out Lin An's shortcomings, Ke Laien gave a cold laugh and bluntly said:"
"Put bluntly, Lin An, you are pulling up seedlings to help them grow; your strength largely does not come from your own accumulation!"
"Becoming Fourth Stage Peak in a short time... If I'm not mistaken, you haven't even reached advanced rules yet? Do you think you're strong? Lin An? You're just a kid waving a pistol! You're far from the true limit of Fourth Stage."
"It's not about strength! Not about combat! It's about experience! It's about lessons! It's about understanding power!"
