Chapter 1760: Stars' End 6
The picture ended, black and deathly silent.
Standing beneath the faintly glowing exchange-point light sphere, Lin An could not snap out of it for a long time.
Even though the demonstration picture had already ended.
But at this moment, an absurd, shocking emotion, like a reverberating bell, kept surging in Lin An's mind.
The system didn't explain this in text as before, but showed him a more intuitive picture.
What exactly is the World-Extinguishing Starfall?
Or rather, after Lin An spent the permission, the system kindly and casually told him what Star-Shattering actually was.
This is good, but for Lin An the impact was simply too great.
"This is the terror of the Star-Shattering level?"
"This is what Star-Shattering really is?"
"So those Star-Destroying level beings fear me so much!?"
His cognition was reshaped.
Lin An trembled slightly all over, his face deathly pale.
He wasn't afraid, nor was his courage shattered. Rather, he suddenly realized how laughable his previous understanding of the Star-Shattering level was, and how full of holes his earlier disguise had been!
He could deceive everyone up to now for only one reason!
That is because the Star-Shattering level's power far exceeds his imagination, to the extent that even if Hei Di and others spotted a hundred mistakes, they would not dare risk exposing him!
"It's not just blowing up a planet that counts as Star-Shattering."
"The true meaning of Star-Shattering is, with one's own power, with the might of a single strike, to pulverize an entire star system in an extremely short time!"
"Under Star-Shattering, no matter how many Fifth Stages there are in that star system, before Star-Shattering they are merely ants!"
He took a deep breath.
Lin An first witnessed the terror of the Star-Shattering level, and thereby understood his previous doubts.
Is it hard to shatter a planet?
Not hard, not at all.
From a data standpoint, no matter how large a planet is, to a Fifth Stage it is nothing more than a somewhat laborious big stone.
Already at the Fourth Stage, Lin An had early on wondered whether he could blow up a planet.
The answer is yes, it merely takes a lot of time.
But between destruction and destruction, there is a stark difference.
Crushing celestial bodies, destroying an entire star system, appears to be merely multiplying the work of destroying a planet by ten, by a hundred.
But to accomplish all this in an extremely short time undoubtedly requires a thousandfold, hundredfold increase in power!
Just like a 100-meter sprint, a 0.1-second difference is a world of difference!
"War-Star, under regular combat, after landing on a planet can kill most life on that planet. If willing, one can spend a large amount of time, by continually attacking the core, to shatter a planet."
"Star-Destroying, possessing the ability to instantly destroy all resistance on a planet, then with full-force eruption, shatter the planet's core in a short time."
"Star-Shattering.."
"It is to skip all steps, with a strike to annihilate the celestial bodies, so as to destroy an entire star system in an extremely short time!"
"As long as there is no same-level obstruction, the Star-Shatterer is the end!"
"Tenfold, hundredfold, thousandfold!"
"The power gap after the Fifth Stage is even greater and more terrifying than before the Fifth Stage!"
After reshaping his cognition of the Fifth Stage power system, Lin An couldn't help but bitterly laugh, feeling like a clown.
He always felt that, with such hard work disguising himself, he even managed to 'instantly kill' Star-Destroying.
He somehow managed to pretend to be that.
But looking at it now...
"If I were a true Star-Shatterer, probably the moment I appeared on the battlefield I would just slap everyone to death."
"A single thought detonates a continent; one strike and it's over."
"No wonder... no wonder Hei Di and the others act like dogs, yet are utterly unwilling, constantly unable to resist probing me..."
"It's so fake... really so fake..."
"In their eyes, my every performance bears no resemblance to Star-Shattering at all; from beginning to end, it's merely the rating given by the system, which frightened them..."
Silence, bitterness.
Lin An looked up at the light sphere above, his eyes full of complex emotions.
Probably no one can understand how he feels now.
Of course, he might not be that inadequate; he really could be growing stronger at an unimaginable speed, and his long effort to disguise his killings still has some use.
Moreover, perhaps it's just that the system's given World-Extinguishing Starfall is overly powerful, while a normal Star-Shattering isn't that strong.
That is not impossible.
As one of the four fundamental forces, the electromagnetic rule is theoretically one of the strongest!
He let out a long breath, Lin An closed his eyes then opened them again.
No matter what, he can now be certain that the permission he exchanged was not wasted!
"World-Extinguishing Starfall..."
"This ability, can I master it?"
He couldn't help but stare fixedly at the three major plans given by the system.
Lin An directly ruled out the second option.
Although the second clause's enhanced rating reached the astonishing Death-Star level, one level higher than World-Extinguishing Starfall, seeing the numerous prerequisites that made his scalp tingle and that he could barely comprehend, Lin An unhesitatingly chose to give it up.
Don't even mention whether he has enough points to exchange for that many rules; even if he did, he doesn't have the time.
Zero foundation, surpassing first level by three levels to master Death Star Level ability?
This is no longer a matter of genius or not; it's simply impossible!
As for the third clause.
"Fourth Stage Initial Level Cataclysm Rules..."
"The preceding rules are actually fewer than Doomsday Starfall..."
"Moreover, the level is lower, and I have some foundation. It seems easier to grasp."
Lin An frowned, his eyes constantly shifting between Doomsday Starfall and Cataclysm Rules.
One Shattered Star Level.
One???
Perhaps because I'm familiar with the system's nature, Lin An could think of that???'s rating, which might be the coolest.
But the unknown also brings too much uncertainty.
After taking a quick glance at the points needed for exchange, Lin An unexpectedly found that if he exchanged for the Cataclysm Rules, his over five hundred points would be just enough.
If it were Doomsday Starfall, he would still have a little left over.
As for the second clause's Soul Walker, it's far lacking, requiring the last C-class Permit to be exchanged for it.
Moreover, Lin An keenly noticed that the system's exchange information included two explanations.
"Rule Understanding, Rule Information."
The former is expensive, only exchangeable in Doomsday Starfall and Cataclysm Rules.
The latter is cheap, appearing in the Soul Walker of the second clause, with many rule branches that sound bizarre.
"This means... the expensive one, once bought, I can master it? Like fragments, just digest it?"
"The cheap one is because I can only afford the information for these few rules; I have to study them myself?"
"The difference between buying tools and buying books?"
As he continuously analyzed each piece of information, Lin An's brow furrowed even tighter.
If he's right, then the second clause's Soul Walker need not be considered at all. Understanding rules by reading books is almost as difficult as letting a primitive person manually assemble an atomic bomb.
Kneading a little sculpture is about the same.
Then...
Now there are two paths before him.
"One is to choose between Cataclysm and Doomsday; the former I have a better foundation, with a clear combat power increase."
"The latter has greater potential, and perhaps it could help me detonate the Black Lock."
"The problem is whether I can quickly master it after exchanging; there's not much time left on the mission..."
"Two is to give up rule enhancement, pretend I didn't see these things, and directly exchange for equipment..."
"It's not a loss; the rules exchanged with the C-class Permit are the optimal solution, greatly helping my future strength increase."
"But the problem is, exchanging for equipment is definitely not as strong as Doomsday Starfall."
"How to choose?"
Once again he fell into the choice.
At this moment, Lin An felt as if he were standing at the last fork of a labyrinth.
Right means life, wrong means death.
