Chapter 189: White Ocean Town
In the camp, broken limbs litter the ground everywhere.
The dark red soil on the ground is mixed with unknown debris.
Throughout the camp, there are almost no intact skeletons; they look as if torn apart by brute force.
The corpse horde, numbering over ten thousand, has devoured every corpse clean.
Inside the largest olive-green tent, everything is in disarray.
Scattered white papers on the ground are stained with dried blood.
"Lord Lin An, this should be the troops' command post."
Huang Haitao noticed that on the simple table, there were many handwritten Military Region documents.
【Looking River Fourth Military Region Rescue Plan】
【Weapon Institute Personnel Transfer List】
【Survivors Statistics Table】
Lin An picked up a thick stack of documents, flipped through them a few times casually, and then threw them into the ring.
There wasn't much useful information; the only thing worth noting was the Weapon Institute personnel list.
Transfer?
It seems the Military Region received a mission early in the Apocalypse outbreak; I don't know if they brought these people along.
As for the Weapon Research Institute, he was still very interested.
But if they were brought over, they probably died as well.
"Lin Dui, I had them calculate it."
"There aren't many intact rifles, only about 300, all of them Type 97 rifles."
"I estimate most of them are in the zombies' hands outside..."
Zhang Tie easily carried several stacked wooden boxes, which were full of ammunition:
"The ammunition is actually quite a lot; there are probably still 60 boxes left, and I see it printed as 1440 per box, so that's over eighty thousand!"
"About 100 grenades, and we found 17 sniper rifles; they appear to be Type 28, domestically produced."
Lin An nodded slightly, then stored the moved ammunition boxes into the Space Ring.
He had used the Type 28 sniper rifle before; it's an upgraded version of the Type 26, quite costly to produce, but it's a bit awkward to use...
But it's still better than having none.
Zhang Tie thought the ammunition was plenty, but in reality it's far from enough.
Over eighty thousand rounds, it looks like the troops were indeed hasty when withdrawing.
Under normal circumstances, a thousand-person unit's normal ammunition reserve is at least 7.2 million rounds.
Don't think this quantity is a lot; this is still normal wartime readiness.
On the modern battlefield, the ammunition consumption to enemy kill ratio is usually 250,000:1.
Like in TV dramas, killing an enemy with a single shot is basically impossible in modern warfare.
Even with high-precision rifles, infrared aiming, and even micro personal assistive devices equipment combined.
Killing an enemy while consuming 250,000 rounds of ammunition is considered a gain.
In most cases, ammunition is used for fire suppression.
Even when dealing with zombies, which don't dodge or avoid, hoping to kill one with each shot during a zombie horde attack is unrealistic.
Zombies won't give you that much time for careful aimed shots, and under tremendous pressure, even trained soldiers can't restrain the urge to fire empty magazines.
In Lin An's view, eighty thousand rounds could take down a few thousand zombies, which would be pretty good.
This is also thanks to player datafication, which speeds up training and keeps physical fitness up.
"Other supplies, any special equipment or heavy weapons?"
"Heavy weapons?"
Zhang Tie pursed his lips and waved his hand.
"Lin Dui, we quickly went through everything; there's only some food, but not much."
"I estimate it's about half a truckload, all individual combat rations."
"But there are all kinds of flavors..."
"Oh, there are also 2 armored vehicles and six military transport trucks."
"But those are at the town gate; should we bring them down?"
Lin An frowned slightly upon hearing this, waved his hand, indicating others should temporarily not go to the town.
This outpost is really poor.
Compared to my plan, which requires at least equipment for arming three thousand, it's far short.
Looks like we still need to make a trip to the military base.
I just don't know where the location of this outpost, the Fourth Military Region, is.
Having withdrawn here in such haste, there should be a large amount of supplies and equipment left there.
Most importantly, we don't need to have friction with the Military Region.
As for the zombies attracted by Mo Ling that still have some weapons on them, Lin An no longer plans to retrieve them.
He can't possibly slowly kill all these nearly ten thousand zombies and then check each gun for damage, can he?
For some small-force survivors, these zombies are like a boon.
Not facing Awakened Ones and Mutants, firearms still have considerable deterrent power at this stage.
"Getting one over comes with a gun; for Huaxia, a gun-ban country, it's simply awesome."
But for Lin An, that's purely wasting time.
He didn't hesitate much.
Since the equipment here is insufficient, let's head to the next location.
After returning to the vehicle, see if we can find clues about the Fourth Rank from the data, or the location of the weapons Research Institute.
We need to secure heavy firepower, and ideally get an amphibious tank.
Otherwise, with a corpse tide of 300,000, the defensive pressure would still be too great.
He lifted his foot and left; Lin An also didn't plan to stay any longer.
Mo Ling couldn't hold out for long; although the town above might have some problems, he didn't intend to look into it.
For Lin An, he won't do anything that doesn't help the goal.
Curiosity is the most foolish trait in the Apocalypse.
Don't court death and you won't die, no matter what abnormalities you have.
"Let's go, we'll take the armored vehicle and leave the few transport vehicles behind."
"It doesn't mean much."
Lin An's steps were extremely fast; he directly ran around the town toward the armored vehicle parked at the town gate.
These two armored vehicles definitely need to be retrieved.
Although they lack an artillery system.
But just the twin-mounted heavy machine gun on top can serve as the firepower of half a company.
This thing, a single bullet can split a normal person's body in half.
For the current stage Awakened Ones, it poses a great threat.
If not for the Splicer's body offsetting damage, even Lin An wouldn't dare take a few hits head-on.
After all, firearms have little effect on Awakened Ones and Mutants, not in terms of lethality.
But rather in rule suppression and being hard to hit.
Like Zhang Tie's shield, his own Splicer's body, and the Iron Body skill book in his ring.
They are all rule‑level Props, which can domineeringly offset regular damage.
As for weapons controlled by ordinary players.
Lin An doesn't need to be faster than a bullet; he just needs to be faster than the opponent's reaction speed.
In high‑speed combat, ordinary players can't aim.
"Lin Dui!"
"Can I drive this armored vehicle?!"
Zhang Tie's eyes lit up, following behind Lin An with an excited expression.
"No problem, you want..."
"Whoosh"
Before Lin An finished speaking, he lowered his head to look at the white paper he had stepped on.
"【Baiyang Town Special Event Report Explanation】"
Black characters on white background, the handwriting is somewhat neat.
