Chapter 1965: The Mystery of the Ghost Skull 26
u「This bunch of lunatics! Lunatics!!」
At the stairwell entrance, Qing Kai listened with a deathly pale face to the noises inside the workshop; each time a sound appeared, it made his face turn a few shades paler.
He hesitated, struggled.
He stared at the pitch-black stairs ahead while involuntarily turning his head to look behind.
In his eyes, Golden Bull and Hai Yao must have gone mad, actually listening to that kid's words and running back to snatch the camera!
That's a ghost! It instantly killed the Divine Archer's ghost!
I don't know if it's because I heard Golden Bull's shout, but his tone already sounded somewhat desperate and painful.
Qing Kai hardened his heart, gritted his teeth, and actually chose to go downstairs.
I can't control it anymore!
He also knew the camera was important, but he absolutely could not die here!
The risk is too great! To take such a gamble based on just a bit of speculation—he would need ten lives to die enough!
"I'm not giving up... I'm not not daring... it's unnecessary! Really unnecessary! There's still a lot of information; over a hundred Fifth Stage have entered here—it can't be that only this place is important!"
"Yes... find others, let others take the risk! As a proper Star-Destroyer, I should be the one to break the situation—not to die for nothing!"
He gasped heavily, panicked and fled.
In the pitch-black stairwell, Qing Kai kept finding excuses for himself.
Thinking that way, he actually wasn't wrong.
Not many Star-Destroyers have come in this time; besides their team, there should only be a few scattered ones in other squads.
According to his theory, Star-Destroyers with high cognition are the key, while brawny War Stars are just cannon fodder sent to die for them!
Soon, almost taking three steps at a time, after descending six floors, Qing Kai could already faintly see the light of the outside world appearing.
"Qing Kai!?"
Before Qing Kai could even let out a big sigh of relief, almost wanting to dash straight out of the stairs, a somewhat surprised shout suddenly startled him.
He saw the troll lying at the exit, at that moment looking at her with a face of astonishment, as if thinking of something, and hurriedly asked him:
"You came down!? Where's 77!? Where are 77's people!?"
"That kid went up to save you guys! He went to get the camera! How come you came down yourself!?"
Unable to understand why Qing Kai would go downstairs alone, the troll's face turned white, and he immediately thought of the thing he least wanted to see!
"Dead! What's there to save? I need that kid to save me!?"
"Move aside, if you don't want to die, let's escape together!"
He was already somewhat annoyed; hearing the troll directly hit on his escape plan, Qing Kai felt a surge of anger and simply said Lin An was already dead.
Having said that, he without hesitation stepped over the troll and ran straight out of the building.
For some reason, perhaps because of the troll's words, or perhaps because he deep down couldn't believe a War Star could be stronger than him—at this very moment, Qing Kai even wished that Golden Bull and the others were really dead!
But just as he ran out of the building, before he could subconsciously look for an escape direction, he only heard a bang—a heavy falling object smashed down behind him with a boom.
At the same time, a chilling sensation slowly rose from behind him.
"Beep! Information complete, please immediately rendezvous with other task participants; the current task is about to enter the second stage! Please get ready!"
His whole body stiffened, Qing Kai listened in shock to the system prompt; even if his reaction were slow, he could tell this most likely meant Lin An and the others had obtained something!
But at this moment, his heart held no joy at all, only a wave of fear.
The reason is none other than that.
That ghost, jumped down.
It jumped to behind him!
"Andre, where do you think Lin An and they are?"
"What on earth is this mission? Why, from when we entered until now, have there only been the two of us? Where are the others?"
Walking in the dim underground passage, Jiang Haochen asked doubtfully toward Andre, who was walking ahead.
After entering, they found a clue that pointed directly to a place resembling a hospital.
"I don't know, maybe it's random teleportation."
"Complete the minimum cognition, do you have any ideas?"
Andre slowly stopped his steps and softly asked Jiang Haochen, seeming also not to know why they hadn't run into anyone else so far.
"Ideas? What ideas could I have... after coming in I lost all my abilities. This is terrible, and I don't know how Lin An and the others are doing."
"But this mission isn't said to be that dangerous..."
Jiang Haochen secretly sighed, boredly kicking a stone on the ground.
Besides the scene being eerily quiet, there was no sign of any living thing anywhere. From entering the mission until now, he hasn't even faced danger—his skin isn't even broken.
He and Andre just casually looked around and found some information—it was about a patient who had been in a car accident.
After pondering together, they felt the hospital might have a second clue.
"No danger would be good... otherwise, in my current state, I couldn't even help a bit..."
"But how did you end up like that last time? You really have no memory at all? I saw those Fifth Stage—good heavens, their pressure was almost crushing me; those people looked like they'd lost their parents before entering—this mission shouldn't be without danger, right?"
Jiang Haochen couldn't help but ask Andre again; frankly, he felt somewhat weird. He always sensed something was off, yet he couldn't put his finger on it.
Even if others were 'useless' and afraid of this mission, Lin An surely wouldn't be? In his mind, someone as impressive as Lin An taking this mission so seriously—there's no reason they'd come in and find nothing at all.
Or perhaps...
"The danger might be later on. As for memory, there is none."
"I don't know either... how I ended up like this."
After his words fell, Andre chuckled and simply continued walking forward.
Soon, as a burst of light came from below the overhead, Jiang Haochen felt certain in his heart, instantly realizing they had passed through the underground corridor and were almost reaching the second information point.
Only after he had just walked out of the passage did he look at the roadside sign, which indeed indicated this place.
Jiang Haochen, however, suddenly froze, staring blankly at the hospital he was supposed to go to.
"Psy... psychiatric hospital?"
He raised his head.
At the dim top of the distant hospital, starkly written was the Okayama Prefecture Mental Health Research Center.
