Chapter 515: Four Types
Suddenly, a commotion arose outside the vehicle.
"Alert! The guard squad's Awakened Ones are going into battle!"
The marching unit seems to have attracted the attention of zombies and mutants.
Amidst the alert cries, Lin An's spreading mental power unexpectedly discovered that Mo Ling had gotten off the vehicle together with AnXia to handle things.
Those two little rascals, how did they end up playing together?
I don't know why.
Since yesterday started.
AnXia no longer follows him; instead, she wants to squeeze into a vehicle with Mo Ling.
"Captain Lin, should I go down and check?"
Zhang Tie shifted his gaze away from the Wolf Fang and instinctively asked.
He was getting itchy hands.
"No need, it's just a First-Level mutant. Mo Ling can handle it herself."
Lin An replied offhand, merely holding the Wolf Fang before his eyes.
Wen Ya, sitting in the vehicle, also withdrew her spreading mental power and lightly nodded.
With AnXia "holding down the fort," the whole unit need not worry about safety.
After a moment.
After several people failed to find any clues about the Wolf Fang, Lin An turned his head toward Colonel Chu and casually said:
"Call Huang Shaohua out and ask him if he knows any information."
He took out the crystal and, habitually, used mental power to jolt the old man awake.
I don't know if it's because being held in Chu An's hands is too much of a torment, but each time he wakes Huang Shaohua, the old man always shows a feeling of mental collapse.
"Lord Lin An..."
"Don't stab me with mental power..."
"I'm in hibernation, not deaf... you can call me..."
His voice was hoarse.
In the crystal ball, Huang Shaohua's eyes were lifeless, his back hunched, truly looking pitiful.
If it weren't known Huang Shaohua's background, anyone seeing this would think they were abusing an elder.
"Regarding the secret realm of the Wolf Fang and Moon Wolf, how much do you know?"
"Or something like Yin Mountain."
He went straight to the point, meanwhile holding the Wolf Fang before Huang Shaohua's eyes so he could see it more clearly.
Just awakened, Huang Shaohua stared blankly for a moment before realizing Lin An was asking him about the secret realm.
Furrowing his brow slightly, after painstaking thought he finally gave an uncertain answer:
"It seems... I have a faint impression?"
Seeing that Lin An seemed dissatisfied with his answer, he hurriedly said:
"My lord, there are too many types of secret realms in the Doomsday Game..."
"I've only been to one or two myself; most of the time it was just exchanges, knowing only a bit of information."
"Normally, secret realms and dungeons are divided into four categories."
"Ancient, modern, future, fantasy worlds, etc."
"Themes are similarly divided into four categories: natural disasters, apocalypse, cataclysm, catastrophe, etc."
Hearing this classification for the first time, Lin An couldn't help but become interested.
In his past life, he had never heard anyone analyze it this way.
However, it seems Huang Shaohua is indeed a survivor from a previous or even earlier Doomsday Game; just unsure which era.
Bound by system rules, if he spoke it he would die; otherwise Lin An really wanted to force him to talk.
After a pause, Huang Shaohua cautiously glanced at Lin An's expression and continued:
"The four world types, my lord, you should know."
"Natural disasters correspond to celestial catastrophes, such as meteorite extinction, global earthquakes, ice ages."
"Apocalypse corresponds to biological disasters, such as radiation contamination, zombie sieges, genetic mutations, logical annihilation, interstellar war..."
"Cataclysm corresponds to otherworldly disasters, such as demonic beast invasions, interplanar wars, spiritual pollution, genetic inducement..."
"And catastrophe..."
When speaking of catastrophe, Huang Shaohua paused a moment, a flash of fear crossing his eyes:
"Catastrophe is then a mixture of the above three theme types... and it will erupt with many special events, meme events."
"One could say that once entering such a dungeon or secret realm, upon entry one faces an inescapable deadly situation...."
Upon hearing this, Lin An's heart stirred.
According to what Huang Shaohua said, he then understood why the previous Amoeba Worm dungeon mission was labeled as a cataclysm.
Clearly there were zombies, which should correspond to apocalypse.
But the Amoeba Worm world was classified as a cataclysm mission.
It seems likely that the crisis in that world was actually caused by beings of the Wizard World, and we ourselves became the cause that fueled it.
Therefore, in the system's judgment, it was categorized as cataclysm (otherworldly disaster + genetic inducement).
Thinking while listening.
"The four eras and four themes combine to form numerous dungeon worlds and secret realms."
"But generally speaking, secret realms of the ancient type are prone to natural disasters and apocalypse."
He glanced at the moon wolf fang held before his eyes, and Huang Shaohua pondered for a moment before swallowing a mouthful of saliva:
"My lord."
"If the fang in your hand truly comes from the Yin Mountain Secret Realm, then it is probably an ancient fantasy-type secret realm."
"I guess inside there will be zombies, weird monsters, vicious ghosts... maybe even natural disasters..."
He felt somewhat worried.
It looks like Lin An is preparing to enter this secret realm.
If Lin An dies, I too will die; for a moment I couldn't help but worry about my own tumultuous fate.
"Lord Lin An, you'd better be careful..."
"This kind of ancient fantasy-type secret realm is second only to the future apocalypse type, making it the most troublesome scenario."
"Why do you say that?"
Lin An retrieved the moon wolf fang and asked seriously.
He sighed, and Huang Shaohua wearily sat on the ground:
"Under normal circumstances, the danger of natural disasters doesn't affect us much. After all, we are Awakened Ones with extremely strong physiques; even being buried in the earth for ten days or half a month would be fine."
"The danger of the apocalypse type basically means fighting zombies or monsters. This kind of disaster has a uniform characteristic: the enemy numbers are extremely large."
"If it were a modern, contemporary, or even future world, after entering this apocalypse-type scenario we could at least rely on technological means to obtain information, and even rely on \"local\" humans to fight the enemy."
"Just like when you previously summoned all of humanity to fight in the Amoeba Worm dungeon."
"But the ancient type is difficult; just gathering manpower takes a lot of time and may not even be useful."
"You can't possibly expect to mobilize millions of ordinary people to fight monsters with knives, can you?"
After listening, Lin An nodded and agreed with that.
Beside him, Xiong Hanzi suddenly blurted out:
"Ironclad cavalry versus zombies?"
Ignoring Xiong Hanzi's excited chatter, Lin An, after confirming he couldn't get more information, turned to ask Huang Shaohua:
"The base attributes at the peak of the Second Level are... 40 points."
"Do you know what's going on?"
"Besides, what exactly is the essential difference between the Third Level and the Second Level?"
"When I unleash my full power, I feel my strongest strike won't be much weaker than that of a Third Level."
"But I still feel it's quite difficult to fight a Third Level."
Lin An recalled the only time he had directly confronted a Third Level, which was the final battle in the Amoeba Worm dungeon.
Facing bodily collapse, the lowest-grade Third Level zombie.
He now recalls it and still feels the pressure intensely.
If it weren't for the monster's body collapsing, and given that he was already about to die, there was still the black dragon's aura suppressing him.
Dragging it out, the one who would definitely die would be me...
This shouldn't be.
His overall attributes now should not be much weaker than those of a Third Level.
The question is, where exactly is the problem?
