Chapter 67: You're Not Worthy

~7 min read 1,216 words

Zhang Tie's pupils contracted sharply; the long-haired man before him instantly transformed into a monster clad in scale armor, roughly his size.

The monster stood two meters tall, its bulging muscles covered in brown scales, white vertical pupils icy, a long hook-shaped tail swaying behind it.

"What the hell is this thing!!"

"Just like yours...."

"Awakened Ones!"

The man who had transformed into a Phosphorus Beast hoarsely withdrew his fist that had blocked Zhang Tie's giant palm, then gathered power and unleashed it!

The fist wind howled, swift as an afterimage, giving Zhang Tie no time to react.

"Boom!"

The tremendous force struck, hitting the black bear's chest; its massive body slammed hard into the abandoned car behind it.

The metal deformed; the weight of several tons plus the immense force instantly crushed the car into a sheet of iron.

"Such power!!"

"Roar!"

Zhang Tie let out an angry roar, quickly sprang to his feet, and saw another fist covered in scales coming at him.

"Too weak!"

The Phosphorus Beast's mocking words lingered in the air as its scale-covered heavy punch instantly slammed into Zhang Tie's head.

Blood flowed out; the black bear only felt dizzy from the heavy blow.

Zhang Tie struggled to rise and counterattack, but the brute force he had just swung with his giant palm was instantly dodged by the Phosphorus Beast man.

"Hiss!"

The Phosphorus Beast's sharp tail, whipping back like lightning, pierced the bear's paw and pinned it to the ground.

Without relenting, the Phosphorus Beast turned and threw another heavy punch at Zhang Tie.

"Roar!"

The black bear howled in pain, instinctively trying to block the Phosphorus Beast's next punch with its left hand.

However, his left arm was empty; he hadn't yet had time to attach a new limb with sutures.

"Boom!"

Dust and smoke rose.

Zhang Tie could only watch helplessly as the fist grew larger, then in an instant was smashed into the ground by a single blow.

"Hah."

"The battle is over."

The Phosphorus Beast slowly retracted its right fist, its vertical pupils cold, then lowered its gaze to the badly wounded, unable-to-fight Zhang Tie, eyes full of contempt.

"Trash."

"Good for nothing but brute strength."

"Hahaha, I knew this guy definitely wasn't a match for Ze Ge!"

The man who had fled first earlier burst out from behind the Phosphorus Beast, overjoyed and excited.

"Idiot, thinking you're that strong with just this much power."

"Really a brainless fool."

The few who had fled back couldn't help jeering at Zhang Tie in the pit, arrogantly, as if it hadn't been them who had been scared and run away earlier.

"I was wondering why that kid in the car acted so strange earlier—turns out he's relying on having an Awakened One on his side!"

"Damn it, you think only you guys have them?!"

"Pah!"

"Ze Ge, tear off this fool's arms and legs—he just killed the boss!"

The Phosphorus Beast gave a light chuckle, didn't answer, and simply strolled to the edge of the deep pit.

That was the boss of their group, but not his boss.

He just couldn't be bothered to fight for that position; if he died, he died.

"Looks like you're the Awakened One of your team, huh."

"No wonder your companion in the car was so calm and unhurried."

"But you think you're invincible with just this strength? Ridiculous."

"Be my dog, and I might spare your life."

Inside the deep pit, Zhang Tie's black bear avatar panted with effort, eyes full of reluctance.

He may have been rash, but the power gap between them is absolutely not that huge!

If he weren't still unaccustomed to lacking a left arm, instinctively wanting to fight with his left hand, and relying on his high physique, the outcome of their continued fight would still be uncertain.

He lifted his head, glaring at the Phosphorus Beast ahead, yet in its vertical pupils he saw Lin An walking calmly toward him.

"Hah, what's wrong? Not convinced?"

"Don't worry, I'll kill them all right away...."

"Huh?"

The Phosphorus Beast suddenly lifted its head to look at Lin An walking over not far away.

"Hah, looks like your companion came over on his own."

"Yo, another Awakened One—no wonder you're so confident."

"There's another Awakened One!!"

The crowd behind heard the Phosphorus Beast's words, frightened and hid again, but after recalling its earlier performance they plucked up courage and stepped forward.

Even such a terrifying black bear isn't a match for Ze Ge, let alone this pretty-boy in front of us.

Ze Ge, kill him!

Let them know what the gap is!

Maybe he's here to beg for mercy—didn't you see he doesn't even have a weapon?

The phosphorus beast stared at Lin An ahead, unfazed; under the crushing weight of Lin An's vast mental power, he could only sense from the man before him the unique aura of an Awakened One.

His aura is feeble; he doesn't look strong at all.

What, you want to plead for your friend?

The phosphorus beast's spiked tail lashed out, easily slicing the road and plowing deep grooves.

Same old line—be my dog, and I might let you go.

Unlike the mindless villains in films, his opening line is to kill everyone, no mercy.

To him, those ordinary players behind him aren't fit to stand beside him.

Even if the man before him is weak, he's still an Awakened One—taking the two wouldn't be bad.

Lin An stood rooted, silent, as if pondering something.

The phosphorus beast gave a light chuckle.

What? Still thinking? Don't think being an Awakened One changes anything—the power gap between Awakened Ones is beyond your imagination.

For scum like you to be taken in by me as a dog is your honor.

Tch!

The metallic, reflective spiked tail sliced the air, appearing instantly before Lin An's brow, as if it would pierce his skull the next second.

Die or submit!

Killing intent pressed in; the phosphorus beast's hoarse voice betrayed some impatience.

I am indeed considering...

Lin An suddenly spoke, his tone calm, even tinged with a hint of worry.

Want me to take you as my dog?

Hearing Lin An's words, the phosphorus beast flew into a rage, bursting out laughing.

Not only him, but even the few behind him seemed to have heard the biggest joke.

Take Ze Ge as a dog? With that puny build, the phosphorus beast could slap him to death with one palm.

Ze Ge, kill this idiot—I think his brain is broken!

Damn it, even your strongest aren't a match for our Ze Ge—I don't know where this moron gets the guts to seek death.

Lin An's words completely enraged the phosphorus beast; he found the man before him utterly ridiculous.

If you want to die, I'll grant it.

Clang!

Power burst!

Power nearing the peak of Second Level exploded suddenly; at near-sonic speed, a fierce blade flash vanished instantly, and Lin An's form appeared like a phantom behind the phosphorus beast.

Pat!

A blood line slowly spread from the phosphorus beast's foot to its right shoulder; its massive body split in two like a laser cut and collapsed to the ground.

I've thought about it, and you don't deserve it.

Clang!

The blade slid into its sheath.
