Chapter 116: Jin Pili
"Where to?"
Gu Lianxing asked with hesitation, her gaze subconsciously falling on the gym bag Pili was carrying. Her eyes widened slightly, "The gym? Then I have no problem. I exercise every day."
She could run ten kilometers in one breath.
Shen Ci, however, frowned. She had indeed started running recently under Lianxing's influence, but now she could only run three or five kilometers at most each time.
She couldn't compare to Lianxing, and the Pili in front of her was definitely even more formidable, just looking at her solid leg lines.
This Jin Pili wouldn't be taking them to the gym to drill them, would she?
Shen Ci felt like backing out, "Um, it's Lianxing who wants to understand you more. You take her."
Gu Lianxing looked at Shen Ci in shock, "My dear, you..."
"Don't worry, we aren't going to the gym. There are five minutes left; I can't be late," Pili said, looking at the time.
Hearing that they weren't going to the gym, Shen Ci breathed a sigh of relief, looked at Gu Lianxing, and nodded.
Mysterious.
She wanted to see what kind of person this Jin Pili, who was so unconventional, really was.
The three of them came out from the school's south gate and arrived at the bus stop on the side of the road.
"Taking the bus?"
Gu Lianxing asked with a look of surprise.
Pili nodded and said expressionlessly, "I usually ride a shared bike myself. Considering you are with me and the weather is hot, let's take the bus today."
Shen Ci looked at Pili. She could see that Pili wasn't a selfish person; otherwise, she wouldn't have cleaned the entire dorm by herself. Choosing to take the bus at this moment was also subconsciously considering the two of them.
"But you have to pay for yourselves." Pili added.
Shen Ci smiled suddenly, capturing the charm of Pili's personality in an instant.
She would subconsciously consider others, but when encountering matters of principle, she was very self-centered, such as things related to money.
This wasn't called being petty. For people who lacked money, money was the most important thing. Shen Ci had also had such a life stage, but she didn't have Pili's straightforward personality, which left her in many dilemmas.
After changing bus after bus, an hour and a half later, the three appeared in a desolate wilderness.
Twilight was sinking, and the surroundings were barren land. Not far away, there was something like a road sign. Gu Lianxing stared at the rusty, mottled characters—"Xijing Wetland Park."
Two bare sand piles, and there wasn't even a tree two meters high in sight. This place deserved to be called a wetland park?
Yet in such a desolate place, a gold-colored van was parked on the side of the road. Gu Lianxing stared straight at it, as if she could already imagine five or six burly men sitting in the car, identifying her photo. Tomorrow, the "Longcheng Legal Channel" would feature a headline titled "Young Girl Tragically Dies, Body Exposed in the Wilderness."
Thinking of this, her body couldn't help but shiver. She quickly grabbed Shen Ci beside her, "There isn't even a shadow of a person here. Why did she bring us here?"
Seeing her look of being scared yet curious, Shen Ci couldn't help but chuckle, "Isn't this where you wanted to come? It probably hasn't arrived yet. Don't be afraid."
Her calmness made Gu Lianxing feel a bit more relaxed. The two followed Pili to the van.
The driver's side window rolled down. The driver was a middle-aged man wearing sunglasses. He subconsciously let his gaze fall on Gu Lianxing and Shen Ci, his brows furrowing, "Who are these two?"
"They're with me. They wanted to come and see the excitement," Pili said.
The man didn't seem reassured. Although he was wearing sunglasses, Shen Ci could still feel the scrutiny in his gaze. Finally, he said, "Watching the excitement isn't allowed. Everyone who goes in must participate."
As he said this, he looked at Pili again, "This is the rule. You know that."
Pili nodded, "Don't worry, I'll have a word with Old Zhou, so you won't be in a difficult position."
The man nodded only after hearing this, "Get in."
Shen Ci was confused by their conversation, and Gu Lianxing was even more clueless. At least at this moment, not only did they not have a further understanding of Jin Pili, but they felt this person was even more mysterious.
The van drove forward for a long time until the sky was almost dark before it slowly stopped.
After getting out of the car, Shen Ci looked around and discovered that the surroundings were full of vehicles, many of which were luxury cars worth over a million.
In the center of the sand dunes was a huge building, like an abandoned tailing plant, and also like a huge warehouse. Neon lights were hung everywhere, flashing with colorful light that didn't belong here.
Gu Lianxing was shocked by the scene before her, "What is this? Utopia?"
Shen Ci shook her head. Although she could see people coming in and out, she didn't understand the situation either.
"Stop being curious. You'll know when you go in." Pili walked to the front and said this before walking straight toward the building.
Shen Ci and the other quickly followed. The closer they got to the building, the fainter the unease in their hearts became, replaced by anticipation and excitement.
"Pili! You're here!"
"Go Pili, we're rooting for you!"
Walking near the main entrance, someone recognized Jin Pili and greeted her enthusiastically. Jin Pili also rarely smiled and nodded to these people.
Gu Lianxing said in surprise, "So she can smile."
And the second they stepped through that main gate, a deafening "sound wave" instantly swept over, completely swallowing Shen Ci and Gu Lianxing, who were new to this place.
Music.
Cheers.
Shouts.
There was even the sound of gongs and drums.
Yet these sounds couldn't be heard at all outside this building, showing that this seemingly abandoned building had actually been renovated with very advanced soundproofing materials.
Ahead was a straight corridor extending forward. On both sides of the corridor were many rooms with closed doors. When Shen Ci and the other followed Pili to the end of the corridor, they discovered that it was actually a sunken fighting arena!
The stands on all four sides were full of spectators—men and women, old and young.
Some were dressed casually, others in suits. Looking up, one could see exclusive boxes made of glass at the very top. The glass was also a very special material; people outside couldn't see inside, but those inside could overlook the entire scene below.
Gu Lianxing froze instantly on the spot, her mouth and eyes both slightly agape. Having grown up in a wealthy family, the well-behaved young lady had never seen such a scene before.
No, she had seen it—in movies.
Shen Ci was naturally shocked as well. She looked around and then fixed her gaze on Pili, asking in disbelief, "Pili, you aren't going to fight underground boxing here, are you?" ===== CHAPTER 117 =====
