Chapter 65: Staying at Home, a Pot Falls from the Sky

~6 min read 1,121 words

Su Changfeng’s voice, heavy with gravity, shattered the joyous atmosphere after Jiang Xia’s breakthrough.

“But now Itachi have a more urgent mission: proceed immediately to Canglan City near Shanhai Pass.”

He paused, his tone growing even more serious.

“Shanhai unrest has erupted—yesterday, Shanhai Pass was torn open by a fissure, and massive numbers of demonic beasts have launched coordinated attacks on nearby cities. The headquarters has now deployed all rear-line Night Watchers.”

Jiang Xia and Wang Teng exchanged a glance, instantly erasing all smiles from their faces.

They both understood what it meant: an overwhelming tide of demonic beasts, a catastrophe for countless civilians.

Wang Teng clenched his fists, black runes surfacing on his skin: “We leave now. How long until we reach Canglan City?”

“The base will deploy the fastest military transport aircraft. Estimated arrival at Canglan City’s perimeter: two hours.”

Su Changfeng’s voice crackled with static: “Remember, your primary objective is not to stand against the beast tide, but to assist local garrisons in evacuating civilians.”

“Additionally, intelligence suggests high-rank demonic beasts are active deep within Canglan City. Proceed with extreme caution.”

“Understood.” Jiang Xia replied, ending the call, then turned to Wang Teng: “Let’s go. Head straight to the airport.”

The two hurried downstairs; soldiers at the base had already prepared vehicles, speeding them toward the military airfield.

Sitting aboard the transport aircraft, Jiang Xia watched the clouds streak past the window, his fingers unconsciously rubbing his palm.

Since breaking through to the Wu Zong realm, he could clearly sense the transformation of his spiritual power—especially the power of his Sharingan and Rinnegan, which had grown stronger with his rising realm.

“What are Itachi thinking about?” Wang Teng handed him a bottle of water.

Jiang Xia took the bottle, twisted open the cap, and took a sip. “I’m wondering if this beast tide is connected to the Evil God Cult.”

“Earlier, Zhao Tianxiong said the Evil God Cult had them transport spiritual energy weapons to Shanhai Pass. Now Canglan City is hit by a sudden beast tide—this can’t be a coincidence.”

Wang Teng frowned. “Now that Itachi mention it, it’s entirely possible.”

“The Evil God Cult is always scheming. Maybe they’re behind this beast tide, trying to divert our strength so they can act freely at Shanhai Pass.”

“Still, Shanhai Pass is brimming with powerful cultivators. They won’t be able to stir up much chaos there.”

“Achoo—”

Shen Wenru, dozing off at Shanhai Pass, sneezed. “Strange—I’ve reached the Saint realm. How am I catching a cold?”

As the two spoke, the transport aircraft suddenly jolted violently; the pilot’s voice crackled over the intercom.

“Demonic beast swarm detected ahead—massive numbers, closing in on our position!”

Jiang Xia and Wang Teng immediately rose, moving to the cargo door, peering out the window.

Below, the sky was thick with flocks of avian demonic beasts flying straight toward them.

Their wings spanned over three meters, claws like sharpened steel blades, eyes glowing with bloodthirsty red light.

“Ironfeather Eagles!” Wang Teng’s face darkened. “Their feathers are harder than steel, and they’re incredibly fast—regular bullets can’t pierce them.”

Jiang Xia’s gaze sharpened; he activated his Sharingan, the red pupils spinning rapidly with spinning tomoe. “I’ll handle them.”

He pulled open the cargo door; a violent gust of wind surged inside.

Jiang Xia took a deep breath and leapt from the aircraft, spiritual power surging through his body, his right hand forming a Chidori—blue lightning crackling from his palm.

Seeing a human jump from the aircraft, the Ironfeather Eagles instantly turned, diving toward Jiang Xia.

The lead fourth-rank Ironfeather Eagle opened its maw, spitting a black energy sphere toward Jiang Xia.

Jiang Xia’s eyes narrowed; he activated Shinra Tensei, his body turning intangible, avoiding the black energy sphere.

Then he leapt, landing on the back of an Ironfeather Eagle, gripping its feathers with his left hand, driving his right-hand Chidori deep into its body.

“Zzzt…” Blue lightning surged through the Ironfeather Eagle’s entire frame; it let out a piercing shriek, lost control, and plummeted toward the ground.

Jiang Xia used the momentum to leap again, landing on another Ironfeather Eagle, continuing his assault.

Within minutes, over a dozen Ironfeather Eagles had been eliminated by Jiang Xia.

The remaining ones, seeing how ferocious he was, dared not approach further, turning and fleeing into the distance.

Jiang Xia landed on the ground, watching the retreating flock, exhaling in relief.

At that moment, the transport aircraft landed on a nearby open field; Wang Teng jumped down and ran over to Jiang Xia.

“Itachi okay? Good thing Wu Zong can fly mid-air—if not, we’d have crashed.”

【Ding~System detected host facing the Shanhai Cataclysm】

【Task released: Eliminate all demonic beasts in Canglan City】

【Reward: Unknown】

“I’m fine.” Jiang Xia snapped back to attention, shaking his head. “Let’s hurry to Canglan City’s urban center and assess the situation.”

The two hurried toward the city center; the closer they got, the thicker the stench of blood became.

Streets were littered with collapsed buildings, shattered corpses, and demonic beast remains; occasional screams from civilians and roars from beasts pierced the air.

“Something’s happening up ahead!”

Wang Teng suddenly stopped, pointing down a nearby street.

Jiang Xia followed his gaze and saw a group of demonic beasts surrounding several civilians.

These beasts were the size of water buffaloes, covered in thick scales, each with a long, pointed horn on its head—Ironhide Rhinos.

Ironhide Rhinos had extremely high defense and devastating charge power; the civilians’ weapons couldn’t even pierce their hides.

“Let’s go help!” Jiang Xia shouted, charging forward first.

His Sharingan activated, scanning the Ironhide Rhino herd—he quickly located their only unprotected spot: their eyes.

Jiang Xia leapt onto the back of an Ironhide Rhino, his right hand forming a Wood Spike, driving it straight into the beast’s eye.

The Ironhide Rhino let out a shriek, thrashing violently, trying to throw Jiang Xia off.

Jiang Xia gripped its scales tightly, his left hand forming another Wood Spike, stabbing it into the Rhino’s other eye.

“Pthsh…” The Wood Spike pierced the eye; the Ironhide Rhino lost its sight, growing even more frenzied, charging wildly in all directions.

Jiang Xia seized the moment, leaping off its back, avoiding its chaotic charges.

At that moment, Wang Teng charged in, forming hand seals; countless black runes erupted from his palm, wrapping around the remaining Ironhide Rhinos.

The runes struck the beasts, instantly slowing their movements.

“Now!” Jiang Xia roared, leaping into the air, slamming his right-hand Chidori into the head of one Ironhide Rhino.

“Boom…” Blue lightning exploded; the Rhino’s skull shattered, brains splattering, its body collapsing motionless.

Wang Teng seized the opening—his black runes transformed into razor-sharp blades, piercing through the bodies of the remaining Ironhide Rhinos.
