Chapter 79: Entering Class A

~6 min read 1,156 words

With a crackle of static, the virtual scene instantly switched.

Jiang Xia found himself standing on a barren desert plain, where beyond the distant dunes lay a Rift Lizard, a Wang-jie monster over ten meters long.

The Rift Lizard’s skin was gray-brown, covered in sharp bony spines, its mouth spewing scorching magma, radiating a terrifying aura of early Wang-jie.

“Virtual Monster: Rift Lizard (early Wang-jie), battle begins!” the system announced.

The Rift Lizard lunged forward, its massive claw smashing through the air toward Jiang Xia.

Jiang Xia’s left Sharingan flared instantly, “Kai!” His body instantly phasing out of reality, evading the Rift Lizard’s strike. At the same time, blood trickled from his right eye, “Amaterras!”

Black flames instantly wrapped around the Rift Lizard’s claw, causing it to shriek in agony as its skin sizzled and charred under the heat.

It furiously whipped its tail, a massive appendage streaked with magma sweeping toward him.

Jiang Xia flipped midair, dodging the tail, and formed hand seals: “Susanoo!”

Spiritual energy surged from his body, coalescing instantly into a colossal skeletal form.

The skeleton gripped a black longsword—crafted from the black flames of Kagutsuchi.

Susanoo swung its blade downward; the black flame blade clashed with the Rift Lizard’s tail, producing a deafening boom.

The Rift Lizard’s tail blackened and charred from the black flames; it grew even angrier, gathering a massive ball of magma in its mouth and hurling it at Jiang Xia.

“Kai!” Jiang Xia used Kamui again, sucking the magma ball into another dimension.

Simultaneously, Susanoo surged forward, driving the black flame sword straight through the Rift Lizard’s chest.

The Rift Lizard let out a piercing shriek, its body slowly collapsing before dissolving into data and vanishing from the virtual scene.

“Battle ended! Score: S+! Overall performance: Dominant Victory!” The system announced as Jiang Xia’s results popped up on the virtual screen.

The instructor overseeing the test stared at his score, eyes wide with astonishment: “Itachi crushed an early Wang-jie Rift Lizard? Impressive—Itachi’ve got real potential!”

When Jiang Xia stepped out of the combat pod, a crowd had already gathered outside.

“Old Xia, how’d Itachi do?” Wang Teng asked eagerly.

“S+,” Jiang Xia replied with a smile.

“No way! That’s insane!” Wang Teng exclaimed. “I only got an A, but the instructor said my talent’s so unique I got into Class A!”

Ye Lingxi nodded: “I also got S+. I faced an early Wang-jie ice-type monster in the simulation.”

Wang Shichen adjusted his glasses: “I got A+. I faced a late Wu-jie monster.”

Ling Zhantian clenched his fist, frustrated: “I got S. I picked an early Wang-jie, but it took too long.”

“Looks like we’ll be in the same class again,” Ye Lingxi said, looking at Jiang Xia, a faint smile touching her cold eyes.

Next, Akatsuki Jin, Cui Jue, and other prodigies completed their assessments one after another.

Akatsuki Jin, Cui Jue, and all top-ten prodigies on the leaderboard scored S+.

The electronic screen in the testing zone lit up, beginning to announce class assignments.

Class A’s roster appeared first, listing twenty names—mostly top-twenty prodigies, with a few like Wang Teng granted entry due to exceptional talent.

“No way! I actually made it into Class A!” Wang Teng shouted, jumping up as he saw his name on the screen. “Even if I’m last, I’m still in Class A!”

Jiang Xia clapped him on the shoulder: “Congratulations. Now Itachi won’t be stuck in Class D.”

Ye Lingxi stared at the screen, a flicker of surprise in her eyes: “I didn’t expect Itachi’d actually make Class A, Wang Teng. The training camp clearly prioritizes potential.”

Wang Shichen nodded: “True. I assumed Class A was only for Wu Zong cultivators. I didn’t think someone at Da Wu Shi level could get in—your curse technique must be extraordinarily rare.”

At that moment, an unwelcome voice cut in: “Hmph. Can anyone and everyone get into Class A now? A late Da Wu Shi dares stand with us?”

They turned to see a young man in a white training uniform standing nearby—he was Zhou Hao, ranked seventeenth on the prodigy leaderboard and a genius of the Wu Alliance.

Zhou Hao looked down at Wang Teng with contempt, a sneer curling his lips.

Wang Teng instantly bristled, stepping forward to confront him—until Jiang Xia gripped his shoulder and held him back.

Jiang Xia looked at Zhou Hao, his tone calm: “The training camp’s rules judge potential and ability. If Wang Teng made Class A, he earned it.”

“If Itachi doubt it, why not test his strength yourself during the class challenge matches?”

Zhou Hao paused, then sneered: “Fine. I’d love to see what use a late Da Wu Shi waste is capable of.” With that, he turned and walked away.

Wang Teng clenched his fists in rage: “Old Xia, why did Itachi stop me? I’m going to teach this guy a lesson!”

“Don’t be reckless,” Jiang Xia shook his head. “Now isn’t the time. The camp just opened—we don’t need trouble.”

“Let him see your strength during the class challenge matches. That’ll be soon enough.”

Ye Lingxi added: “Right. Zhou Hao is from the Wu Alliance. His elders hold high positions in Ren Yuan Pass. No need to provoke him.”

Though still furious, Wang Teng knew Jiang Xia and Ye Lingxi were right. He forced himself to calm down: “Fine. I’ll hold off until the class challenge matches—then he’ll regret ever opening his mouth.”

The group ignored Zhou Hao and followed the crowd toward Class A’s training zone.

Class A’s training area lay at the deepest part of the camp, far more luxurious than any other class: it had private spirit liquid pools, top-tier cultivation chambers, combat simulation pods, and a vast open-air training ground.

Already, other Class A prodigies had arrived, gathering in small groups, chatting among themselves.

Akatsuki Jin stood beside the spirit liquid pool, surrounded by disciples of the Fentian Pavilion, scrolling through his phone, seemingly indifferent to everything around him.

Cui Jue sat on a stone bench outside the Enlightenment Chamber, eyes closed, a faint aura of yin energy swirling around him.

Jiang Xia and the others found a shaded spot to sit. Wang Teng pulled out his communicator and opened the camp’s resource exchange interface.

“No way! The resources in Class A are insane! High-grade spirit liquid costs only 10 points. One hour in a cultivation chamber? 20 points.”

“And there are magic treasures—even SS-ranked ones!”

“How do Itachi earn points?” Ling Zhantian asked.

Ye Lingxi opened the point system: “Complete daily training tasks, participate in sparring matches, earn high scores in simulations—all grant points.”

“Supposedly, outstanding performance on assessment missions grants massive points.”

Ye Lingxi nodded: “Let’s go explore the facilities first. Formal training starts this afternoon.”

They rose and walked toward the spirit liquid pool—a large circular basin filled with pale blue liquid, radiating thick spiritual energy.

Beside the pool were changing rooms and dedicated storage lockers.
