Chapter 1034: Hearts Toward the Light (5)
A flash of anger crossed Cao Feng's eyes, followed by a wave of sorrow.
He raised his cup and drained it in one gulp, then spat out two words: "She's dead."
Zhao Chi was stunned.
He hadn't expected this news.
Shi Juan was one of Cao Feng's followers, but she was plain-looking, and Cao Feng had never felt anything for her.
Shi Juan hadn't competed in the last Xinxiu Assembly, but she still came to cheer Cao Feng on.
He hadn't expected this outcome.
Cao Feng let out a long sigh and extended his cup: "Yang Xiong."
Yang Xiong poured a cup.
Cao Feng drained it in one gulp again.
Then his fist slammed heavily onto the table.
"Those bastard aliens, fucking hell…"
Zhao Chi said glumly, "Sorry, I didn't know you two had already…?"
Cao Feng gave a bitter smile:
"No, if we had really been together, that would've been better.
"Honestly, Shi Juan isn't my type.
"I like good-looking ones, with nice figures. Shi Juan only barely qualified on the figure part.
"But how the hell do I put this?
"When she died in front of me blocking damage for me, I still… damn… I really didn't feel anything for her… so why does my heart still feel like it's being wrenched?
"She was really something—while alive she always followed me around, and now that she's dead, she still goddamn keeps following me, I just can't forget her.
"What the actual fuck! Another cup!"
Yang Xiong filled it to the brim.
Cao Feng raised his cup toward Zhao Chi, staring at him.
Zhao Chi clinked cups with him.
The two drained them in one gulp.
Cao Feng said coldly, "Zhao Chi, do you know why I'm drinking this one with you? Because you're the only one who ever told me to cherish Shi Juan. Do you remember?"
"I remember." Zhao Chi nodded.
Cao Feng sneered, "Shit, that's the most fucked-up part—those words were actually said to me by you. Just for that, I toast you."
