Chapter 112: Money Spent

Zhao Chi headed north all the way.

He kept looking around on the road, avoiding running into those District 7 nobles.

Other pedestrians also hurried along.

It seemed everyone had received similar notices.

Fortunately, the road only had dust and horse dung—no nobles encountered.

Zhao Chi wanted to buy stockings outfits, and the clothing shops in this town might not necessarily have them.

Moreover, modifying outfits also required materials, and rare materials at that—rare materials might not be available in this town either.

To buy everything, he'd need to run to several places.

Things weren't peaceful outside now; it wasn't worth risking for a little money.

He could just buy directly at the Exchange.

Although the Exchange charged a handling fee, it had a complete range of goods.

Zhao Chi arrived at the Exchange.

There were very few people inside, and surprisingly the director was sitting there.

The moment Zhao Chi entered, he immediately drew the gaze of a large number of staff.

Seeing Zhao Chi's clothing and attire, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

A clerk came over from the door to attend to him.

He was led to Counter No. 14.

Unfortunately, there were no blueprints here.

Then he could only buy ready-made outfits.

But when looking at these outfits, Zhao Chi was dumbfounded.

He hadn't expected stockings to have so many categories.

Pantyhose, long socks, mid-length socks, short socks, over-knee socks, dance socks, split-toe socks, garter stockings, crotchless stockings, snakeskin stockings, polka-dot stockings…

And so on, many varieties.

But could they all be classified as stockings?

Many of the names were the first he'd ever heard, though a few of them he quite wanted to choose.

Crotchless stockings, for instance.

It wasn't that he had any special thoughts, but rather he felt these stockings would be very convenient for those women.

But in that case, there would be a patch between their legs that couldn't enjoy the defense bonus.

And that was precisely their sensitive spot.

So crotchless stockings were out.

Garter stockings and over-knee socks were also nice, but they had drawbacks too.

What are split-toe socks? Why does this even exist? How strange.

After a moment's consideration, Zhao Chi ultimately chose pantyhose.

After all, although this type of stocking wasn't the best-looking, it had the largest coverage area.

It could not only wrap the legs and feet.

Even the buttocks, and even the waist, could be wrapped.

This way, it was equivalent to letting their entire lower body enjoy the defense bonus.

This one it is.

But besides style, there were surprisingly many thicknesses too.

Ultra-thin, thin, standard, thick, ultra-thick.

On thickness, Zhao Chi didn't hesitate—he chose ultra-thin.

In the end, what he bought for them was ultra-thin pantyhose.

Next was buying materials.

Fortunately, all the materials were available.

He also bought some Energy Pills for the craftsmen to eat.

He finished selecting quickly.

The staff member said softly, "Mr., please double-check again. After confirming it's correct, click confirm to pay."

Zhao Chi checked carefully.

【Shopping List】

【Stockings Outfit】 ×24

【Silk Thread】 ×24

【Cotton Thread】 ×24

【No-Return Grass Juice】 ×24

【Basic Energy Pill】 ×300

【Payment】 850 silver coins

【Commission】 25.5 silver coins

【Total】 875.5 silver coins

Zhao Chi already had a mental expectation, but when he really saw such a large amount, he was still a little startled.

The unit of these amounts was silver coins.

Whether here or in his original world, this was still the first time he had directly spent so much money.

The most expensive thing in here is that "No-Return Grass Juice," even more expensive than silk stocking fashion items.

But there's no way around it — it's the key material for the modification, it has to be there.

Silk thread isn't exactly cheap either.

The cheapest is cotton thread.

Adding it all up, buying a pair of silk stocking fashion items, then consuming materials to modify them, the total cost comes to about 35 silver coins.

After all, it's a super-modified fashion item, so this much money is worth it.

And it's definitely much cheaper than purchase finished goods.

Energy pills aren't too expensive, but the quantity bought is large.

The main thing is these pills can replenish energy.

Their effect is similar to coffee, or tea leaves.

They can let those female craftsmen eat them to replenish energy and stay alert.

They can go without sleep for long periods, working continuously, and working with full energy at that.

Although this does have a bit of a grueling meaning for those women.

But right now it's the early stage of territory development, they really do have to work overtime.

Later on, I'll compensate these female meritorious contributors doubly.

The 10 gold coins just borrowed are almost spent already.

Besides these goods payments and commissions, there's still tax to pay…

Zhao Chi said: "Please give me the receipt, I'll go to the counter over there to pay the tax."

Unexpectedly, that staff member said: "Don't bother with all that today, I'll quickly help you finish paying it, you hurry up and leave, don't run into those nobles."

Zhao Chi couldn't help but laugh: "Alright, then thank you."

【Tax】 119.85 silver coins

"What? This much?"

Zhao Chi was shocked.
