Chapter 126: Test Rules

It's still early.

Zhao Chi didn't waste stamina running to the academy.

Instead, he walked at a brisk pace.

There weren't many people on the village roads, but once he entered the town, the streets were noticeably more crowded.

It was the morning rush hour.

There were plenty of pedestrians and vehicles on the road.

A horse-drawn carriage passed by, and a wave of horse-manure smell hit him in the face.

A mechanical vehicle rolled past, kicking up another cloud of dust.

This kind of mechanical vehicle was powered by spirit energy, and each refill wasn't cheap — it was a symbol of a wealthy household.

Zhao Chi bought a fried dough cake on the street for 8 copper coins.

Very oily, very greasy, maybe not too clean either, but it tasted good.

Just 8 copper coins — as long as it fills the belly, that's enough.

"Zhao Chi? Come on, hop in!"

A familiar woman's voice.

He turned his head — it was Chief Instructor Li Ruanyu.

She was driving a spirit-energy mechanical vehicle, a compact ladies' model.

Today was another formal day, and she was still wearing a full formal outfit.

Zhao Chi waved his hand: "No need, Instructor Li, I'll just walk over."

Li Ruanyu had already pulled over to the side of the road.

"No need to be so polite? Come on."

Zhao Chi smiled, opened the door, and got in.

Mechanical vehicles were about the same as horse carriages — both were made of steel and wood.

Except mechanical vehicles didn't need horses, and the interior was a bit more luxurious.

Li Ruanyu started the vehicle, glanced at Zhao Chi: "Eating something this greasy first thing in the morning? Can your stomach handle it?"

Zhao Chi laughed: "I just like eating this kind of thing — don't you like it?"

Li Ruanyu gave a light laugh: "I used to like it, but a woman has to keep her figure, so I can only stay away from that sort of thing."

Zhao Chi nodded and swallowed it all in one bite.

"So how about it, Zhao Chi — has your development these past few days been going alright?"
