Chapter 1788

~7 min read 1,356 words

They had no objections — after all, given the combat power, they could only serve in a support role.

The plan was set.

Yuan Li said, "Then it's decided. While that Pang Hai is tied down by Captain Li's soldiers, we'll quickly take care of Bai Jiao. We might even grab a good chunk of contribution points from their side!"

Everyone: "Good."

Yuan Li: "Everyone form up. We advance in step in five minutes."

Everyone: "Yes!"

The lords of the World-Breaking Army began forming up, about to set out.

If the World-Breaking Army's lords were merely puzzled by Zhao Chi summoning Li Ruanyu's reinforcements, the Heavenly King Army's lords were downright shocked.

They had also seen the system notification.

Whether Li Ruanyu came personally or only dispatched reinforcements, that long string of numbers was right there — they still found it terrifying.

940,000 combat power.

Simply unbeatable.

Pang Hai stared blankly at the system and cursed: "What the hell? What kind of situation is this? A county-level lord shows up? 940,000 combat power, coming for me? Are they insane? Think that highly of me?"

Bai Jiao's whole body trembled.

When Pang Hai had come to support her a moment ago and the combat power had reversed, she'd felt a surge of excitement.

But then more reinforcements arrived for the World-Breaking Army, and her heart sank to the bottom.

And now — despair.

She sent a voice message to Pang Hai.

Bai Jiao: "Brother Pang, what do we do? In this situation we're sure to lose. How about we surrender? I hear the World-Breaking Army treats prisoners fairly well."

Pang Hai: "We can't surrender. We've killed so many of their people, and we took part in the massacre of North Flow Village. We won't survive. Let's make one last stand — kill as many as we can take with us."

Bai Jiao: "Sigh. If only we'd surrendered to those werewolves when they came to us last time. Now look where we are."

Pang Hai: "Don't worry. I see that Li Ruanyu only sent reinforcements. We may still have a chance."

Bai Jiao: "What chance? Even without that county-level lord, the other lords' combat power is close to 130,000. But the two of us only have 85,000."

Pang Hai: "Don't worry. One last stand. You hold the defense on your side. I'll take out the three lords here first — Zhao Chi, Ruan Yao, and Li Ruanyu's reinforcements — then come help you. Hold on, I'll be as fast as I can."

Bai Jiao: "Alright, Brother Pang, don't rush too much. I'm confident in my defense. I've got plenty of defense towers on my side, and most of my elves are ranged. I can definitely stall the enemy for a long time."

Pang Hai: "I believe in you. I'll get there as fast as I can."

Bai Jiao: "Okay, be careful, Brother Pang. We don't know how many reinforcements Li Ruanyu sent. You have to be careful."

Pang Hai: "Don't worry. You know my strength."

Bai Jiao: "Mm, I'll wait for you."

Zhao Chi had no idea what the others were thinking.

He only saw from a distance that the dozen-plus goblin formations that had left a moment ago had actually come back?

The distance was very far, and the view was blurry.

But he could confirm the enemy was indeed hurrying back.

What was going on?

Gone and returned?

Were they planning to take him out first?

Gu Qing: "My lord, no matter what, now that Pang Hai has recalled all his soldiers, we can verify the result of fighting against 50,000 combat power."

Zhao Chi: "Exactly right. Let's fight."

Immediately after, Zhao Chi pulled out a voice transmission talisman.

He tapped to select the target: Hunting Captain Yang Lu.

Zhao Chi: "Yang Lu, Li Ruanyu's reinforcements will be arriving in our territory. Have them stand by on the spot. Also, a friendly lord named Ruan Yao should have connected to our territory — don't let her enter our territory. Take people and stand guard outside the village."

Yang Lu: "Got it, don't worry!"

Although Yang Lu was an idle hunting captain, she was among the first batch of female villagers to come to the village, so she could now be considered a founding member.

With Gu Qing and the others out, the female captains were the ones whose words carried the most weight in the village.

Yang Lu had a good personality, and because she had nothing to do she often helped out everywhere, so she was familiar with most of the female villagers and got along well with them.

Added to her seniority, she could get the other female villagers to move.

Moreover, Yang Lu's loyalty had long since reached 10 points, so any task given to her would be carried out with great dedication. Zhao Chi felt at ease with her.

Everything was arranged.

Begin battle!

While Zhao Chi was thinking and communicating, the entire female soldier squad had already run toward the hillside.

The two leading goblin formations at the front spread out their formation — the square flattened, the rows decreased, the columns increased, forming a horizontal long-snake array. This formation was best suited for ranged projection.

Each goblin held a throwing spear in hand, with a dozen or so more strapped to its back.

The throwing spear was also the goblin race's signature attack method.

What they gained upon advancing was also throwing skills.

Those throwing spears looked like wooden shafts with metal spearheads.

The shafts were a riot of colors, looking very fancy.

He didn't know if it was paint or some other reason.

But it shouldn't be just for looks.

Perhaps they had been improved.

Even enchanted.

Every goblin was indeed wearing iron armor; normally, it would be very hard to kill one in a single strike.

Those higher-tier goblins mixed in among them had armor that looked even more silvery and bright — refined iron armor, or even steel armor, perhaps?

They also held colored javelins, but those javelins were entirely metal, clearly far superior.

Further away.

The dozen-plus goblin formations that had just withdrawn were also closing in from both sides of the slope.

The distance was still far.

But the general picture could still be made out.

Those goblins also wore iron armor and carried javelins; there was no real difference from the two formations directly ahead.

Seeing this, the numbers could finally be confirmed.

There really were about 30,000 of them.

A great number.

For the enemy to equip such a massive amount of goblins entirely with iron armor — they truly lived up to their 50,000-strong combat power.

The formations that arrived later did not merge with the first two, but instead headed straight down the slope, advancing calmly and swiftly.

They clearly meant to encircle and annihilate Zhao Chi.

Or perhaps those formations were still simply ignoring Zhao Chi altogether, and going after Li Ruanyu's reinforcements and that town-level lord Ruan Yao instead?

Both were possible.

No matter which.

Zhao Chi carefully observed the goblin formations.

At the front of each formation were Tier One and Tier Two goblins holding javelins, roughly 1,400 of them,

while at the rear were mostly large Tier Three and Tier Four goblins, around 500 or so.

At the very front and very rear of each formation were also some even larger Tier Five goblins, presumably serving as squad and team leaders, about 100 or so.

The large goblins were clearly the main force.

This was probably only the ranged-attack formation.

Once they engaged the enemy, those high-tier goblins at the rear would rush forward to fight.

After all, if the tall ones all stood at the front, they might get their heads blown off by javelins thrown from behind.

But for now, there was no need to worry about them.

They were still far away.

The first to clash would still be those 4,000 goblins directly ahead.

But likewise, the small goblins were in front and the large goblins at the rear, looking ready to throw at any moment.

The female soldiers ran lightly up the slope.
