Chapter 2039
Not much information, no idea whose territory this is.
But since it was sent by Li Ruanyu, there shouldn't be any problem.
So after explaining the situation to Gu Qing, he immediately teleported to the coordinate location.
In an instant, Zhao Chi arrived inside a simple, grand building.
Very spacious.
It looked like a stone structure built from marble, dark yellow overall, with a rather modern style.
Zhao Chi felt that the spot he'd appeared in was a lobby; ahead was a simple front desk, and behind it sat two women in uniform — the standard uniform of the World-Breaking Army.
Around them, people in twos and threes were chatting, their expressions tense.
Behind him was a massive glass door, with two rows of bronze statues flanking it.
That spot was probably meant for guards or stone lions.
This lord's taste was rather unique.
But on closer inspection, Zhao Chi realized those weren't bronze statues but iron golems — they really were sentries standing guard.
He turned back around.
One of the uniformed women had already stood up and was walking toward Zhao Chi.
"Hello, sir. May I ask which captain invited you here?"
Her tone was even, a smile on her face.
Zhao Chi replied politely, "Jade Squadron, Li Ruanyu."
"Oh, Captain Li. Please come with me."
"Alright, thank you."
The woman gestured for Zhao Chi to follow.
The two walked into the corridor on the left, and just as they turned the corner, Zhao Chi heard a fierce argument.
But it was clearly muffled by a door — although the argument was intense, the sound wasn't loud, as if coming from somewhere very far away.
The uniformed woman stopped in front of a door.
"Sir, this is the meeting room. Please go in."
Zhao Chi hesitated slightly.
After all, the argument was so heated right now, and it sounded like the meeting inside hadn't ended yet — would it be rude to barge in?
But on second thought, what kind of time was this to worry about that?
So he thanked her and pushed the door open.
The moment the door opened, the arguing voices instantly grew louder.
The meeting room wasn't very big, but there were a lot of people inside.
At least forty-plus.
There were no windows around; the walls were all smooth white stone.
Soft light emanated from the walls, making the room well-lit without being harsh on the eyes.
In the center was a large brown round wooden table, with water and some food set on it.
Ten people sat around the table.
Zhao Chi had basically met them all — they were all squadron leaders or above. Li Ruanyu was among them, currently talking with Gu Zhan.
Behind them sat over thirty more people, all vice-captains or squad leaders of various squadrons, or Zhili subordinates.
These people packed the meeting room full.
Steel Eagle Squadron Captain Xing Yi, sitting by the round table, was arguing loudly with Blaze Squadron Captain Feng Liyan — their voices were the ones he'd heard outside.
The others weren't all paying attention to them either; each was discussing among themselves.
This didn't look like a meeting in session, but rather a break between meetings, with people resting.
Li Ruanyu spotted Zhao Chi coming in and waved.
"Zhao Chi, over here."
Zhao Chi nodded and squeezed through between the seated people.
He was a little puzzled — why did so many squadron leaders have to squeeze into such a small place for a meeting?
Wouldn't it be better to pick a bigger meeting room?
Maybe this place had some special properties?
Forget it, never mind that.
He quickly made his way behind Li Ruanyu, but there were no empty seats behind her — the only five chairs were all occupied by five women.
Zhao Chi had seen them before; he knew they were Li Ruanyu's Zhili subordinates.
Female lords with squad-leader-level strength serving as her subordinates.
But he only knew their names; he couldn't match their faces to their names.
Though they were all beauties, that was for sure.
Although they were all made up, their looks probably weren't below a 6.
"Zhao Chi? You can take my seat."
A uniformed woman with twin tails stood up; she looked a bit older than Qi Yue, but still very young.
"Oh, no need, thanks. I'll just stand."
"Don't stand, you can sit in mine too." The uniformed woman with a bun next to her stood up as well, also very young.
"Really, no need. I'll just stand for a bit."
"Why stand? You sit in the middle."
The uniformed girl with twin ponytails pouted slightly as she sat down, only sitting on half her bottom, leaving half the seat open.
"Mm, right." The uniformed girl with a bun also left half the seat open.
Zhao Chi was a bit dumbfounded.
What's going on?
Are they this warm?
Want me to sit between them?
The chair isn't that big — wouldn't that mean pressing right up against both of them?
If it were somewhere else, fine, but this is behind Li Ruanyu, so he still had to consider Li Ruanyu's feelings.
He didn't expect Li Ruanyu to turn her head and look.
Then she smiled at the two of them, and said to Zhao Chi: "It's fine, sit down. They're all on our side. Everyone's sitting, it'd look odd if you kept standing. Xiaobai, help introduce Zhao Chi — we should have let you meet long ago. Hold on a moment, I still have things to finish discussing with Captain Gu."
Even Li Ruanyu was saying this…
"Got it, leave it to me." The uniformed girl with twin ponytails nodded in reply, then she said to Zhao Chi: "I'm Gongsun Bai, and this is Yu Chan."
So it was them.
Zhao Chi had known these names long ago, and had heard Su Qin mention them too, but only today did the names finally match up with the people.
Gongsun Bai pointed at the women beside her and introduced them one by one.
"This is Liang Mengzhen." Uniformed, long ponytail, a refined mature woman.
"Yan Yan." Uniformed, short hair, a regal beauty.
"Guan Qing." Uniformed, hair in a bun, a regal beauty.
"Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello." Zhao Chi kept saying hello over and over.
They all had different personalities and looks, but every one of them smiled and nodded back at Zhao Chi in reply — very polite.
They seemed very friendly toward Zhao Chi?
Why?
Was it out of respect for Li Ruanyu, giving Zhao Chi a friendly smile?
Liang Mengzhen asked softly: "Zhao Chi, are you twenty?"
"Yes, I'll be twenty-one tomorrow."
"Oh~ then everyone here is your older sister."
"Ah? Really?"
Zhao Chi looked at Gongsun Bai and Yu Chan, feeling they were younger than him.
Yu Chan laughed: "Don't look at us two like that — we're both a little older than Su Qin. It wouldn't be wronging you to have you call us big sister."
"You know Su Qin too?"
