Chapter 3

Their relationship with humans is also one of both enemy and friend.

Sometimes they join forces to attack magical beasts, and sometimes they wage war against each other.

After all, they are different races; they simply cannot fully trust one another.

Humans themselves are generally not that powerful.

Their strength is inferior to that of beastfolk.

Their agility is inferior to that of elves.

But the 【World Stone】 that humans have obtained through war allows them to carve out territories that belong solely to them.

Within these territories, they can grow food and train troops.

Thus they are able to contend against the vast numbers of magical beasts outside.

Although other races also possess World Stones and can likewise carve out territories,

humans are clearly the most adept at managing them.

However…

the number of World Stones is not large.

Most people only get one chance to obtain one for free.

And today, in addition to activating talents, World Stones will also be distributed.

And there is also a school benefit: a 【Heroic Soul】 that can summon an initial hero.

So today is of vital importance to these twenty-year-old students.

The principal clapped his hands at the front.

Then he urged, "Students who haven't chosen a talent, please choose quickly. We'll soon be distributing 'Heroic Souls' and 'World Stones.'"

Zhao Chi immediately pulled his thoughts back and looked at the three talents before him.

The first:

【Talent】 Female Scholar

【Grade】 E-rank, Growable

【Effect】 1. Skill effects used on friendly females +20%.

【Effect】 2. Skill effects used on friendly males -10%.

This is a basic talent.

The effects are average, not considered strong.

It has one positive and one negative effect.

Whether human, beastfolk, elf, or other humanoid races, females are naturally somewhat weaker in strength.

So in combat, females are at an inherent disadvantage.

As for fish-men, kobolds, spider-people, skeleton-people, stone-people, and so on.

Some of them are divided into male and female, some into male and female animals, and some simply have no gender distinction at all.

For these races, this talent cannot take effect.

So, to make this talent work, one can only choose a humanoid race.

And specifically a humanoid race that has females.

This talent has requirements regarding race.

However, this talent is a growable talent.

It can advance later and grow stronger and stronger — that is a merit.

Zhao Chi looked at the second talent:

【Talent】 Judging by Appearance

【Grade】 E-rank

【Effect】 When using skills on friendly members of the opposite sex, every 1 point in the Appearance stat grants +5% effect.

This talent…

To be honest, it's also average.

This world has an Appearance stat — naturally, the higher the stat, the better-looking one is.

This talent is limited by appearance: the better-looking someone is, the greater the bonus.

True to its name, Judging by Appearance.

But after all, there aren't many good-looking people; most are ordinary.

Ordinary people only have an Appearance stat of 4-5 points.

Calculating it out, the bonus is only 20%-25%, and it's limited to the opposite sex.

So its applicable range is rather narrow.

This is also not a growable talent; its ceiling is low.

It's not as good as the first talent.

Zhao Chi looked at the third talent:

【Talent】 Gluttony

【Grade】 F-rank

【Effect】 1. Food intake +500%

【Effect】 2. Fecal output +500%

This…

What is this thing?

Completely a trash talent.

Maybe it's of some help for making fertilizer.

No wonder that trainee just now hated goblins, yet ultimately chose a talent related to goblins.

After all, with this kind of garbage talent.

The third talent, give up directly.

Looks like he'll have to choose between the first and second talents.

Zhao Chi was somewhat disappointed.

None of these were the talents he had in mind.

Then let's pick the first one, after all, it's growable.

Zhao Chi was just about to choose, when he suddenly noticed these two talents shining with golden light.

The same color as the talent "Flower-Plucking Jade-Substitution" he had just awakened.

Why is there golden light?
