Chapter 3102: Battle (1)

Breaking World Army notices came one after another.

Zhao Chi read them carefully.

The Breaking World Army is fairly reliable; most of the messages it puts out can be trusted.

Unless the intelligence is wrong.

Of course, occasionally they do send out false messages, to let the internal spies see them.

There's nothing to be done about that.

【Bulletin】:

【Regarding the werewolf reinforcements not setting out, we have exchanged information with our other allied forces】

【Based on the intelligence gathered from every legion and noble house, the likely reasons can be inferred as follows】

【1. The resistance inside White Grass City is fierce — both family and noble resistance — and the werewolves, unable to attend to everything at once, need personnel to keep suppressing them, so they may be unable to dispatch reinforcements as planned】

【2. Internal werewolf divisions within White Grass City have widened; conflicts over interests have broken out between werewolf groups, and several internal clashes have already erupted, making it even harder to send out reinforcements】

【3. "Tianhai City" to the northwest of White Grass City was recently overrun by magical beasts; the entire city was destroyed, and the magical beasts near Tianhai City have turned to attack "White Grass City" and "Ice Mountain City," causing White Grass City's defensive pressure to surge and its demand for military force to increase】

【The above three reasons may have caused the previously reported plan for two werewolf regiments of reinforcements to fall through】

【Therefore】

【Our strategic objectives and missions need to be readjusted】

【1. The two werewolf regiments the werewolves sent out a week ago are indeed heading toward Snowfield City; the lord mission at the spatial rift remains unchanged — continue to stand by, stay vigilant at all times, and be ready to strike at any moment】

【2. All villages, towns, and outposts within Snowfield City are to increase patrol intensity; the werewolves are very likely to shift from their previous defensive posture to an offensive one, which is to our advantage】

【All units must remain vigilant; the moment you spot any sign of the werewolf army breaking through, immediately send out a request for aid and activate the formation; if necessary, raise the Truce Banner and wait for friendly support】

【We have now shifted overall from the attacking side to the defending side; everyone going out must pay attention to safety. The werewolf reinforcements may have failed, and they could launch large-scale breakouts and raids at any time】

【All units, prepare for a decisive battle】

【Lords with questions may contact their superior lords】

【End of bulletin】

"Zhao Chi? Why did you stop?"

Zhuang Ya turned her flushed face and looked at Zhao Chi.

Zhao Chi explained, "I got a notice I need to read; give me a moment."

At a time like this, how could Zhuang Ya possibly wait?

She offered, "How about I get on top?"

"Go ahead."

Zhao Chi once again looked carefully at the Breaking World Army notice.

He hadn't expected trouble to crop up on the werewolves' side too.

Or rather, an accident.

But these accidents were almost inevitable — all perfectly within reason.

The werewolves had only just taken White Grass City not long ago; their momentum was at its peak, and they controlled all the formations.

But fortunately, the time since they had occupied the whole city was still short, and quite a few lords had survived, hiding in various places.

The lords all understood that although the werewolves had won a great victory, their losses were considerable too; their combat strength needed time to recover, and the loot needed time to digest. Right now the werewolves were at their weakest — every extra day they waited, the werewolves grew another fraction stronger.

To resist, they had to seize the moment now.

Otherwise, after another stretch of time, once the werewolves fully controlled the whole city, there would be nothing they could do.

The various families and factions would certainly mount resistance.

Zhuang Ya pressed her lips together and sat on top with a delighted look.

"Ooh… in a bit those are definitely going to get all over your waist~"

"It's fine, you know I don't mind."

"Hehe, okay~"

Zhao Chi paid her no more attention and continued looking at the system.

The nobles of White Grass City were utterly useless.

Their mass surrender was the main reason White Grass City fell.

But those were nobles — the very power the werewolves feared most.

How could the werewolves truly accept their surrender?

Only by wiping them out could the werewolves feel at ease.

Surrender meant death.

Just a matter of dying sooner or dying later.

He had no idea what those nobles had been thinking back then — such a simple truth and they couldn't see it, and they actually surrendered to the werewolves?

Had the nobles over there truly been driven to a point where they had no choice but to surrender?

Zhao Chi didn't know.

All of that was external situation.

And within the werewolves, of course there would be disputes too.

Even within the Breaking World Army such things were unavoidable; a savage, plunder-loving race like the werewolves would naturally have even fiercer infighting.

Especially after such a great victory, dividing up the loot was the moment most likely to spark conflict.

Good — let them fight among themselves and beat each other to death.

When there were internal conflicts, even fewer would be willing to send out reinforcements; after all, whoever sent reinforcements would have that much less strength, and the interests right before their eyes mattered most.

But there was also an accident.

He hadn't expected Tianhai City to have fallen.

And fallen to a tide of demonic beasts, no less.

"Ah! Zhao! Zhao Chi!!"

Zhuang Ya suddenly threw herself at him.

His whole body went rigid, his breath stalling.

Inside, it pulsed in tight contractions, the grip strong.

Zhao Chi let out a long breath and went back to looking at the system.
