Chapter 854: To Deal With You, One Move Is Enough!

On the plaza before the headquarters building of Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall, Liu Shan's voice exploded like spring thunder, spreading far into the distance.

The aura of an eighth-rank peak Grand Master had already erupted from him, and a pair of eyes stared fixedly at Xu Jingming.

"It's Hall Master Liu Shan! He's actually here?"

"He's been at headquarters lately — he must have seen the appointment and felt it was unfair, so he came looking for trouble."

"If it were me, I wouldn't accept it either. Having Hall Master Hearing Ling Shuang as Modu Inspector is still acceptable, but Xu Jingming is ultimately a level short."

"......"

There were quite a few people on the plaza; those who had been walking about stopped in their tracks.

While whispering among themselves, they also wanted to see how things would unfold.

Xu Jingming and Liu Shan — one represented Su Qingli, the other represented Hu Jinyu.

This clash between the two would likely draw out both of those big shots.

"Liu Shan?"

Xu Jingming narrowed his eyes, about to speak.

Suddenly the sound of thunder rumbled, and a slender figure wreathed in jade-green lightning appeared.

The willowy silhouette radiating an extremely powerful aura flew in from afar — it was none other than Hall Master Su Qingli.

Right after Su Qingli, Vice Hall Master Hu Jinyu flew over as well.

"Liu Shan, what do you think you're doing? Publicly provoking the man who led my Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall to first place in the exchange tournament?"

Su Qingli's willow-leaf brows shot upward.

Her rebuke was ice-cold and biting, clearly angered by Liu Shan's behavior.

Xu Jingming had assumed Hu Jinyu would help Liu Shan smooth things over with some kind words.

But to his surprise, Hu Jinyu's face was equally dark as he rebuked in a low voice:

"Liu Shan! You've acted rashly! Come back with me right now and accept the Hall Master's punishment!"

"I didn't act rashly! I'm just genuinely unwilling to accept this!"

Liu Shan's eyes had already turned an utterly bloodshot crimson.

His voice had even grown shrill and grating from the roar, and he stretched out his right hand to point at Xu Jingming:

"Why? Why does Xu Jingming get to be Modu Inspector? That position should rightfully be mine!"

He had been stuck at eighth-rank peak for seven or eight years now.

Reaching this point without breaking through to ninth rank meant his potential was already exhausted.

With no chance of breaking through the bottleneck on his own, the only possibility was using external resources to break through.

Originally, when he was at the Moben branch in Dayangzhou, he held great power and still had a chance of obtaining such a top-tier resource.

But ever since he was transferred to the Nixi branch as Vice Hall Master last time, his status had plummeted, and there was no way he could obtain a top-tier resource to break through to ninth rank.

And this Modu Inspector position had let him see hope again.

So during this period, he had been running over to headquarters, wanting Hu Jinyu to fight for this position.

But he never expected that, in the end, the announcement he waited for was Xu Jingming's appointment!

Without a position there is no authority — relying on himself alone, how many years and months would it take to buy the resources to break through to ninth rank?

To fight for one last chance, he had no choice but to do this.

"This guy Liu Shan has completely lost control."

Hu Jinyu's expression was ugly.

He had clearly already told Liu Shan about Cao Jun's account of Xu Jingming's true strength at the National Council.

But he had still underestimated how desperately Liu Shan craved ninth rank — he just had to come find Xu Jingming, refusing to believe the evidence.

"Liu Shan, are you questioning my decision?" A faint flush of anger glimmered in Su Qingli's beautiful eyes.

"I wouldn't dare. The fact that you, Hall Master, appointed him as Inspector proves Xu Jingming must have exceptional qualities."

Liu Shan shook his head, then looked at Xu Jingming again:

"It's just that I'm a man with a strong desire to fight, and I'd like to spar with this newly appointed Inspector.

If I lose, I'll quit Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall on the spot. But if I win, then the Inspector position should be given back to me!"

The moment the words fell, a chorus of gasps immediately rose all around.

"Holy crap? Hall Master Liu is planning to go all the way!"

"Going hard over the Modu Inspector position is understandable — there's too much behind it; it's basically the fourth-in-command seat of our Hall."

"True, but Xu Jingming probably won't agree."

"......"

With the Yer Secret Realm closed and Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall taking first place in the global exchange tournament, the news had indeed been quite a hot topic lately.

But the reports hadn't given any description of Xu Jingming's actual strength.

Apart from Xu Jingming's fans, basically everyone else on the plaza thought Liu Shan was stronger and that Xu Jingming would avoid the fight.

Just as they were thinking this, Xu Jingming's calm voice suddenly rang out:

"I can agree to that, but the Modu Inspector position was arranged by Teacher Su — she has to agree first."

Xu Jingming hadn't originally planned to get tangled up with Liu Shan.

But Liu Shan had already said that if he lost, he'd quit Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall.

A request like that — of course it had to be thoroughly satisfied!

After all, he'd been fed up with Hu Jinyu for a long time now, and Liu Shan at eighth-rank peak could be called Hu Jinyu's right-hand man.

Kicking him out of Lei Ting Martial Arts Hall would greatly weaken Hu Jinyu's faction.

At the same time, Xu Jingming also sent a spiritual transmission to Su Qingli: "Teacher, agree to him."

Su Qingli, who had long been clear on Xu Jingming's strength, did not hesitate either, and directly nodded: "Liu Shan, I also agree to your request."

At this moment, the anger on her Bai Xi pretty face had already vanished without a trace, replaced by a faint hint of mockery.

"Bastard!"

But Hu Jinyu beside her was nearly driven mad with rage.

He never imagined that Liu Shan would actually be this aggressive!

More critically, he had already sent Liu Shan multiple voice transmissions, yet the other party had not responded in the slightest.

This showed Liu Shan had already been dead set on doing this, with no room left for a turnaround.

"Ah, this..."

"What's going on? The Hall Master actually agreed."

The moment Su Qingli's words fell, the onlookers in the square were instantly dumbfounded, and Liu Shan himself was also somewhat surprised.

He vaguely realized that the contents of the National Council that Hu Jinyu had told him might not have been an exaggeration.

But having reached this point, he could only brace himself and go through with it.

"I just don't believe it, that Xu Jingming is really this strong!

I've been at the peak of the Eighth Order for nine years at least, and he's only just at the upper position of the Seventh Order!"

Liu Shan's gaze once again became firm, even carrying a faint hint of anticipation.

Once he won, he could take up the post of Magic Capital Inspector!

This position was even more important than the branch Hall Master of the Ink Capital.

When that time came, he would very likely obtain the resources to break through to the Ninth Order because of this!

"Since even the Hall Master my lord has agreed, then let's go, to the arena over there."

Liu Shan spoke.

However, Xu Jingming shook his head: "To deal with you, only one move is needed, there's no need to go to the arena."
